I regularly donate blood and have been told I'm a good candidate for platelet donation...besides taking longer, how different does it feel than donating blood?

Please share your experiences.

A few more details...

--does it hurt more or less?

--is the needle size the same or different?

--does it bother you to have needles in both arms? can you move at all?

A friend of mine had a baby via C-section (spinal aesthesia) in mid-April. The baby has had problems with weight gain from the beginning. She has a very short tongue--unfortunately cannot be fixed with a simple snip like with severely tongue-tied babies...at this point the baby is nursing but not very effectively, using a SNS and some bottle supplementing. The mom is very committed to breastfeeding and working with a lactation consultant, (but I think not a very good one...) but she has serious supply issues. Almost as if the milk hasn't come in on one side--is that even possible? She has started a prescription medicine for milk supply-Reglan. Can anyone share stories about overcoming a similar situation or give helpful advice I can pass along? Thanks for reading!
