  • What does XinHua mean?

Not the People's Republic Newspaper - just the name.

  • What are these odd spots/blisters all over my body?

I have been getting these little itchy blisters pretty much everywhere on exposed flesh (legs, arms, chest), but not my face. It starts out looking like an ingrown hair or small blister - they itch and if I burst them they don't bleed, but might fill with clear fluid again. Some go hard and have a hard white scab that doesn't come off (almost like a callous).

It's not chickenpox - I've had that and this has been going on for about 10 days now without the usual all over breakout that epitomises chickenpox..

  • Were you a teenage runaway?

Details are a 13yr old girl ran away for the first time - to a friend's house (this time).

She shoplifts and lies, but does well at school and I can say that she has a lovely home - not abused, own room, although mum is not well off. Family of 5, single mum who works hard, but is there in the afternoons and evenings to spend time doing homework. They spend time as a family doing crafts and going places, but kids allowed to go to the park or see friends if they want.

School is no help at all.

My question is - if you were a teenage runaway, what brought you back to earth. Was there a single action that you wish your parents (whichever adult) had done that would have stopped you - or eventually did?

  • What could be making my siamese sick all the time - and how do I stop it?

I have an 8 yr old purebred Siamese. I usually feed him a vet-sold kibble diet. Sometimes this is supplemented with a can of wet food, or other types of kibble.

However, he goes through phases when he throws up after he has eaten - and I mean pretty much immediately after he has eaten, you could almost scoop the food up and put it back in his bowl.

I also have a moggy eating exactly the same diet without a problem.

The siamese has had blood test, gets checked annually by the vet and doesn't appear to have toilet problems.

    Any suggestions would be welcomed.

  • Do pigs naturally eat meat?

I know that domestic pigs will eat most things and that starving pigs will scavenge carrion if pushed - however, I was under the impression that wild pigs are clean and mostly herbivorous.

Can anyone shed some light providing citations and evidence please?

  • How does one construct a beehive hairstyle?

My hair comes to just below my shoulders and is VERY straight. I would like to make a beehive hairstyle, but other than the backcombing don't know where to start.

I need instructions to be able to do my own hair - or a website with similar would be appreciated.

  • What was the colour orange called before oranges arrived in England?

As I understand it, oranges originate from the east and were known by their sanskrit name of narang (a narang). So before they arrived in England, there must have been another name for the colour orange - please quote sources other than wikipedia.

    Thanks.

  • Calamari LM style?

Does anyone have a recipe for Calamari rings LM style?

I don't want crumbed calamari please. If you have to ask what LM style is...I suppose I'd better answer - it's Lorenso Marcs(?) in Mozambique, there was a special way of doing calamari rings in garlic, lemon and butter.

  • Where did the Intelligence Cycle Originate?

For all those military historians out there - I am trying to find the true origins of the Int cycle. The first time it was formalised into the 4/5 diff stages (depending on which one you work with).

I am writing a paper, so references would be very much appreciated.

  • Question for Muslims re Ancient History.?

I heard a comment from an archeologist regarding the Muslim world's perception of ancient artifacts and I'd like to know if it's true, as well as your personal views - These are not my own views and measured responses would be welcome.

'Anything that came before the prophet is irrelevant. Anything that does not adhere to the teachings of God should be destroyed. Therefore the Muslim world considers the heritage of their respective countries, before the prophet, irrelevant and sees no reason to protect them.'

  • Why ask a question here when sites like Wikipedia exist?

There are so many research sites and everyone on here obviously has, pretty much, unlimited access to the web, so why not find your own answers?
