When emissions restrictions made air cooling no longer practical, Porsche came up with the 928 V-8 engine. While that did not sell as anticipated, and the flat waterboxer became the popular popular solution, what happened to the V-8? Now that V-8s are available from the Cayenne to the Touareg, VW Phaeton, etc., do they share any history with the 928 engine?

I often see people posting about how it is illegal to change a VIN or swap a car title, and that is obviously wrong. They give examples like firearm serial# or Social Security#, which have no similarity. The government owns firearm and social security production. The government does not own and has nothing at all to do with VIN or car production, at all. The laws are clear, and you can do what ever you want with VINs or titles, as long as you don't steal cars. I once had a VW with a swapped pan and other body parts so that it had 3 different VINs, and the government could not do a thing about it. You can make a car yourself any way you want, and people often do. There is no law that can prevent that, as long as you do not risk the safety of others.
