  • Need help regarding a motorcycle loan?

My husband currently has a motorcycle loan, however that is where it ends. The loan is basically a credit card with an obscene interest rate(over 25%). The payments keep going up because of the interest (against what we were told) but because it is not a traditional loan he doesn't think he can refinance it to a regular loan.

We purchased the bike in February of this year so it has only been a few months but I am hating the interest and the fact it is a credit card. Is there any way we can get it to a regular motorcycle loan or do we just have to take a personal loan to be able to pay that balance off and get a lower rate? However when we pay the balance it will still be effective as a credit card for the dealership basically where he could use the card for gear or even repairs on the bike. The card is from capital one but not a traditional cap one card either as it has it's own website that will redirect to cap one.

Advice, info something, I just want the interest rate cut in half!

    Thanks!

  • Finding a rent to own house?

My husband and I really want to get into our own house by the time our lease it up in our current home. However we are both rebuilding credit from bankruptcy and do not have much saved for a mortgage down payment and closing costs due to some bad decisions leading to the bankruptcy. We have two kids with a third on the way and are self reliant(no government aid) however even with the basics (not living out of our means) we still cannot save much each month, so we were looking into a rent to own house. However we don't know what the best way would be. Going through a company (like our current condo) or just finding an owner to do a rent to own contract with us. Most OWC situations though that I have seen, they wants at least 40% down on top of the monthly plus for credit which is way out of what we can do.

Are there any ways to find a good company that does lease or rent to own contracts on houses? I have searched a little but it all seems shady to me as they either don't have business numbers or refuse to give any information until you basically are in a contract with the business to find your home.

We live in Southern Nevada and are planning on staying here since we have certain ideals( that the laws provide for) and add in the low cost of living we are happy here.

Please only include legitimate sources. I do not want to see anything about how a mortgage is better or to just keep renting until we have the money saved because that won't happen for about 5 years.

  • Would this be a breach of contract?

My husband signed a contract in which he would have payments automatically drafted on or after the 15th of the month. The company has been taking the payments a week early for the past two months and this month it was denied because the funds were not available so my husband now has late charges because the company drafted early. I noticed the previous months were early as well when I looked after getting the call that they couldn't take the payment yesterday.

Would this be a failure of them to comply on their end for taking the payments early? If so what actions can we take as the company refuses to do anything but demand the payment plus the late fees and NSF fee.

    Thank you!

  • Why is my husband covered but I am not?(details inside)?

So I was looking for insurance through our state exchange as they have their own process. Well our kids are covered under medicaid. I went through the application process for my husband and I, we make a bit less than 30k per year. I found out that he qualifies for fully covered medicaid while I however have to pay $6350 out of pocket on top of a premium of $143 with no subsidy. How does that make any sense? He is a US citizen as am I. He is mexican and I am white. When we lived in a different state we were way below the income guidelines and didn't qualify for any assistance yet we made ends meet some how. We moved to a new state and the kids were approved no problem however now it comes to my husband and I and I am not. Is it because I am white? Seriously though someone tell me this is not a biased system. I read that the limit for subsidies for a SINGLE person is $45k or something like that per year so how is it that a family and the female head of household is not eligible for anything? We live in Nevada if that helps at all. We work, we live modestly and within our means and manage to save a bit but I don't want that bit we can save for emergency repairs on the car or house have to go to medical bills that we don't even need the insurance for.

  • Mobile home or house first?

So my husband and I are working on building our credit and saving money to buy a home in a few years. However we were thinking about buying a mobile home as a cheap investment and then renting it out down the road when we have improved our credit score to get a much lower rate on a mortgage for a house.

I have done a little research though there is really nothing clear cut on differences. I know with a mobile home it would have space rent on top of the mortgage. A house would have property tax. So I figure a mortgage on a mobile home would be cheaper and we could pay it off sooner. Helping credit and all that. Then as we build up a bigger down payment for an actual home we could purchase our home then rent out the mobile home or even just sell it depending on the park rules and regulations.

Would that be beneficial to us in any way or not really? I really want to get out of renting but a house seems so far away at this point in time.

  • How long does exposed film last?

I have a roll of film it says C-41 ISO400 on it. I have had it for at least 6 years if not more. It has not been developed. It has been stored in my home at basically room temperature. I know I had a disposable camera for a good 5 years after the film was all used, and some pictures still came out, most did not however. I don't know what is on the film I currently have but I would love to find out if there is a remote chance any of the pictures will still show up. Opinions? How long does fill usually last once exposed? Experiences? I couldn't find much online which is why I am asking here. Thank you!

  • Is my body detoxing from junk food? TMI question?

So recently my husband decided he wanted to join the military, well he has 80lbs to lose and I have 20lbs that I would like to lose as well from baby weight. So we decided to clean up our diets, eliminate junk food and for him salt, as well as working out. We started that a week ago. I also started with "no-poo" using baking soda to wash my hair. Both of us have been having diarrhea, and most recently last night I woke up feeling really sick and after my walk (wanting to build back up to running) I got home and after relaxing for a bit I puked up what was left of my dinner last night and my water this morning. I am feeling sort of crappy today and have not eaten a whole lot because of it. Husband has been feeling really good since he stopped adding salt to his food and eating any fat laden foods every chance he has. I was feeling good until last night.

We have been eating a lot of fruits and veggies, whole grains and chicken, only eating red meat once a week or so which is a change because we would eat a lot of refined grains and red meat plus all the junk like chips and sodas and so on. Dairy we have always limited anyway since neither him or I are fans of milk but we do eat cheese with a few meals during the week, eggs once or twice a week and are adding in yogurt.

Are these part of detoxing from all the junk food we used to consume? He has already dropped about 10lbs in a week and I dropped 5lbs that is holding steady so far. I just hate feeling like this but I don't know if it would be detox or just my body not agreeing with something since my whole family ate the same things yesterday.

    thank you!

  • Landlord not providing items in lease?

We reside in Nevada and have been in our condo for 4 weeks as of today. When we signed our lease it stated that we would be provided with a pool/tennis court key and a garage remote. We have not received either one. Yesterday my husband received a voicemail that the key is $10 from the HOA office and that we obtain the garage remote from them as well even though the condo is privately owned and we are leasing through a broker.

Since both items were supposed to be included in our lease and are not, what actions can we take?

Also they have not turned on the heat and the past few days it has been below 60degrees upon waking and we have two children under the age of two. We requested that when we first moved in and had the gas turned on. The gas technician said it has to be done by a specialist because of the tile roof where the heating unit is.

We also had a verbal agreement on them cleaning or replacing the carpet before we moved in, and that has not been done. The carpet was not cleaned before we moved in and there is evidence of that with all the stains, dog hair and pine needles (from a christmas tree most likely). Plus the smoke/wet dog smell which need to use air fresheners and scented candles to cover up. When we walked through, they did not acknowledge the smell even though my husband and I both know it is there and worse upon moving in and vacuuming the carpet.

He is going to call or go to the leasing agent today. I was trying to read the laws where we can withhold rent for the above items if we remedy the situation ourselves (excluding carpet) but I am not sure how to go about that. Please help us out. Thank you!

  • What should I do about this job?

I am babysitting a 6 month old with VERY (and I mean VERY) protective parents not to mention the schedule they will not allow to deviate from or they complain. The baby was in daycare for 3 months and mom could not stand it. Now I am watching said infant and it has been two days and I cannot stand the infant or the mother. I have never known a baby to scream over nothing no matter what is done (food, change, carried, etc) and mom says that he is spoiled at home to no end. She brought a time sheet for me to fill out every day he is here, a postropedic (sp?)mattress for him, and anything else she brings with him for the day. Mom is great when she is a person but when it comes to baby... I really need the money right now but at the same time I don't know what to do and if it is worth my sanity. Is there any hope it will get better over time or should I just get out as soon as possible?

Before anyone posts about it. I am a mother of two with my baby (8 months) being very needy but even when he screams for no reason I can get him to stop by doing anything unlike the infant I am watching. I was also going to school and majoring in Early Childhood Education as well as 9+ years of experience with taking care of babies to pre-teen. So I have plenty of experience even with the picky parents, this situation is just something else that is beyond any parent i have ever met and talked to. I love kids and can handle the baby but I just don't know about mom especially when she couldn't handle the daycare with her son.

  • What do we need to do to buy a house?

So my husband and I want to start preparing to buy a house. I know first thing is building up our credit which we are working on. My FICO is in the high 500's and his is high 600's. We have a bankruptcy from December 2011 (discharge date). We currently have medical bills that we are working on paying. He has a credit card that I am an authorized user on and I have a secure card that does report. He also has a car payment that I am not on.

What else do we need to do in order to prepare to buy a home by hopefully next summer. Aside from the obvious save money, pay off debt... I am trying to look into the process but it seems really confusing for me because I don't know where to begin with getting information together.

What is a credit score to aim for before seeking a mortgage?

What can we expect with the bankruptcy on our credit?

    Anything else that is important?

  • Can I get a CDL back?

So my husband and I moved to a different state. In the process he decided he did not want to keep his CDL class A since he had no luck getting any work with it. Well of course a week after he drops it he gets a call for a job offer for driving. Is there any way he can get it back without going through school again? Or will he have to go through school and testing all over again in order to get it?

  • What do I need to do about my car?

My husband and I traded in our car August 2012 towards the purchase of our current vehicle. Well the dealer was supposed to handle all transfers and what not. Well February we got notice that the vehicle was in impound and we were liable. Well We submitted all paperwork again to the DMV as well as to the impound. The impound said we were no longer liable. However today I receive yet another notice that because we are the last register owners we are liable for up to $3000 minus the auction amount of the car.

What other options can we take? We moved out of state so we don't have the option of driving to the impound (which was 75+ miles away from where we were previously living anyway). We cannot afford to be liable for this. We already have damaged credit that we are on the path to repairing and cannot afford another hit to it. Frankly the whole situation is making me extremely mad and I don't know what other steps to take short of hiring an attorney which we cannot afford.

  • How will Obamacare affect my family?

All I know is we will be fined a couple grand if we don't have insurance by 2014. Right now my kids are covered under Medi-cal in California and my husband and I are covered under his employer insurance plan.Right now we pay $164 bi-weekly for insurance that comes directly out of his paycheck. So over $4200/year in our premium costs. Plus 20% after the $2000 deductible has been met per person and $30 per office visit. It adds up to a lot and eats into a lot of our income and I can't find a job due to the amount daycare costs, we don't qualify for any government aid yet the kids qualify for full medi-cal and we qualify for low-income housing. He makes $30k a year with over time to cover all the taxes and insurance that gets taken out so it is more like $25k in take home.

The whole situation is confusing and just stinks to say the least. I would just as soon cancel his insurance for the two of us which would allow him to not work overtime but I don't want the fines for not having insurance. So what would our options be? I looked at a calculator that said

Based on your income, your annual premiums for that plan would be no more than $900 to $1,200. Your maximum out-of-pocket costs for deductibles and co-payments would be capped at 6 percent of the total cost.

What would the 6% be calculated on? After we pay $1200 or what? And how do we get that insurance? How would it effect us if we opted to not get insurance and my husband stop working overtime so our income drops to $25000 before tax?

    Thank you!

  • What is wrong with my cat?

We won't have money for another week or so to take my cats to the vet so we are trying to figure out some things on our own until we have the money. What I have found from searching equals to UTI or food allergy as the major two.

    Sushi: 1 year orange tabby

    Princess: 3 years black tuxedo

One cat is peeing on the floor outside the litter box, we don't know which one. We often find hairballs from Princess on the floor. Princess also has scabs around her neck (haven't been able to check the rest of her body) and fur has fallen out where the scabs are. My cats don't fight so I know it isn't from that. They are both strictly indoor and do not have fleas. Right now we have the cats in separate rooms to figure out who is the one that is peeing outside of the litter box. Neither are acting out of the ordinary although last night Princess actually came up to us to be petted when she usually stays away as both cats are very independent unless their food bowls are empty.

We buy cheap food from the dollar store or the cheap walmart brand food for them 99% of the time. Needless to say the brand gets switched every other week or so.

I have been cleaning the cat box twice a day and one is still urinating outside of it. My husband is ready to take them to the shelter because he is sick of it.

We have only ever had one box and both cats were fine with it until the past few weeks. We had our second child in July but I think that this is a bit after the fact to be stress from the second baby.

  • Is my baby gaining weight ok?

His doctor wasn't helpful at his appointment a few weeks ago so I figured I would ask here.

My baby was 16lbs 3oz and 25 1/2" long at his 2 month check up. We missed the 4 month due to insurance changes so went in at 5 months. He weighed 18lbs 8oz and 27 1/2" long.

He has 4 wet diapers a day that are hardly even wet, even after going 8-10 hours at night. Yes he sleeps that long, I got lucky:) He is breastfed, however I have been giving a bottle of formula occasionally when he refuses to nurse anymore but is still screaming with hunger. Only then does he have a full wet diaper that seems like it is going to burst. His doctor said to just keep doing what I am doing (breastfeeding and supplementing with bottles as needed). I love his doctor but the last appointment just bugged me because he didn't seem as attentive as he usually is with my concerns.

I have an appointment in a week and a half or so and they are going to weigh the baby and I am going to bring up my concerns then, with WIC. But until then I want to see what I can do because I really don't like giving formula but I don't want him dehydrated or starving.

I had him nursing all day long yesterday and the day before without giving a bottle and it still did nothing to help increase my supply.

  • What political party am I?

Since I don't feel like I identify with the two major parties, I vote republican when there is no independent party but I don't know which one I truly identify with and what I have found online isn't helpful.

    Here are my views:

    Pro-Choice

Pro 2nd amendment and right to bear arms

    Pro-limited government power/terms/benefits

    Pro-military

Anti-war when it is not doing anything to protect our country, just for the purpose of invading to assist another country in their civil war

Anti-foreign aid when our country is billions in debt. If we had a surplus then a limited amount would be OK.

Pro- Gay right to marry (or eliminate marriage altogether and everyone has a civil union with the same rights)

Any other major topics I missed, feel free to ask and I will respond.

  • Confused on getting a 2nd degree?

I am working towards an A.S. in Early Childhood Education. I also want to get my A.S. in Education Paraprofessional since it is only a few classes more to complete the degree. However I don't understand the requirements of getting a second degree at my school. I don't have time in my schedule to make an appointment to see a counselor at school to ask so I am asking here... I still have 10 classes to the first degree then 3 more to the second degree so I have a while to plan if I need to graduate with one in one semester then the following semester graduate with the second.

The following is from my school.

    Second Degrees:

Students may earn one Associate of Arts degree, one Associate of

Science (General A .S .) degree, and any occupational Associate in

Science degree for which they qualify . This means that a student

may qualify for more than one degree during any one given term .

Students who complete and apply for a degree within the same

academic year will be awarded the degree effective the term in which

all requirements are met . Students who have met degree requirements

in a previous academic year and have not maintained continuous

enrollment will be awarded the degree in the term in which the

application is submitted, provided all current requirements are met

  • Gift ideas for parents/grandparents?

Husband and I are on a low budget hence the planning now for Christmas gifts. I am going to attempt to make tile coasters with pictures of my kids (20 months old and 10 weeks old right now) for my parents, his parents and maybe my grand parents. I want to do something else though but can't think of what. My grandparents do drink coffee but have a billion coffee mugs so that is out. Grandpa is retired and Grandma is thinking about retiring soon as well. I did pictures in frames for them all last Christmas so I want to do something different.

I am just sort of stuck with ideas but want to plan now so I have time to either make or save to buy things for family. And they always do big things for us(well my family) which makes me feel bad (and yes even though they are my parents and grandparents it still makes me feel bad) and we can't afford to reciprocate with much so to speak because I have not been able to find a job.

Yes I know Christmas is not supposed to be about gift giving but it is the highlight with my family since we are not really religious.
