A friend of mine has a very difficult situation going on at current. She is a single mum of 19 and has a year old baby. She has no criminal history. She has never harmed the child and is able to financially support the child and has been doing so. However, she had a disagreement with her mother, so her mother has now abducted the child and refusing is refusing to let her see her child, and has been calling her and proclaiming death threats towards her (although not towards the child,) but this to us does obviously bring the child's immediate safety into question. The local and state (South Australian) police have both been contacted about the situation, however, they have refused to take any immediate action as they say this is on the level of the Federal Police. There is no custodial agreement for the parent of the child's mother to be in possession of the child, or any Domestic Violence Order to prevent the child's parents from seeing him, which leads me to believe that this is a case of kidnapping. Attempts to contact government family mediation services available in the state have also failed to order my friend's mother to give back custody of the child. We would rather not draw this situation out and take it to court, as the threats that were given lead us to believe in the event that the situation were to go to court, the child's safety could be in question, or the safety of the child's parents.

Attempts to get the police to forcibly retain custody of the child have failed so far, so what options would be left for us to undertake? :\

I've been struggling for quite some time now to try and find a 4G Mobile Broadband plan in Brisbane, that will give me unlimited data, or at least, around 100GB. I'm aware that there are liberty plans available which offer no excess data charges, but the download speeds once over say 25GB of data just won't work for me, as I am looking to achieve at least ADSL speeds as I am a gamer, and also very active on Youtube (so I'll need upload as well.)

I do have a landline setup through Telstra that has 200GB of data on ADSL 2+. We also have Foxtel and were told it will work properly. However, I quickly discovered that I am not even getting download speeds of 1mb/s (lucky to get .7mb/s) and the internet is too slow and unreliable that Foxtel cannot operate properly, which is incredibly frustrating as this is a new contract, and even more so because I was working for them as a sales representative for quite some time. Attempts to fix the lines have provided no results, with the lines being too degraded and exposed to moisture, with no plans to ever fix them in the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, these are also the only land lines available where I live, and I am thus forced to resort to mobile networks (I do have 4G coverage with Optus and Telstra) to try and use the internet.

I'm aware of vividwireless having unlimited data plans elsewhere in Australia for roughly $80 a month, although unfortunately they are yet to open up such a network in Brisbane.

Are there actually any providers out there that have some sort of deal for this setup available in Brisbane? Or is it just another far off novelty for Australians desiring to actually get decent internet?

Ever since last night every application I attempt to run, with the exception of my web browser and applications supposed to run on start up immediately get suspended by my OS (Windows 8) and will never start. How can I stop my OS from doing this, and why is this only happening suddenly?

So I've recently moved houses from Mackay to Brisbane (about 900km away) and ever since then the new internet we have is unbearable. We have constant packet loss of around 30% or as high as 70%. We had problems so we bought a new router which hasn't made a difference, and the distance between the router and my computer (I do use wireless) is the same as it was in the previous house we used to live in. I live closer to many game servers now yet my ping climbs as high as 3000 - even sometimes 11000 is getting recorded, making any form of gaming impossible, and even browsing next to impossible as all connections will time out and will not load. This happens to all the computers on our network, which are all wireless. Our bandwidth is greater with our current ISP, and then even when no other devices are using the network the connection is unbearable. I have a noise attenuation between 40dB-55dB and I'm using ADSL 2. This happens more often after about 10:30am and will then continue on till as late as midnight, and even outside of this time frame it tends to happen.

I'm stumped as to what the problem is and what options I have left to try and fix this issue.

I got an offer to monetize my Youtube channel through Adsense with Google, however, I am a bit confused about their legal requirements for this to occur, and the terms and conditions have confused me a fair bit as well.

I mainly make videos that are cover songs involving piano and singing, and understand that I must have the written permission of the owner of the song to legally be allowed to monetize a video of a cover song, however, I am guessing there's probably more to it than that.

Could somebody please give me some relevant information that I will need to know in order to avoid infringing copyright laws and such?

I've been having a bit of a discussion with some mates, discussing the ballistics of 9mm Para and .45ACP rounds, and have a couple of things I wanted clarified, when comparing the ballistics of these rounds. The 9mm is fired with 115 gr, from a 251mm barrel; the .45 is fired with 165 gr, from a 300mm barrel (yes I'm comparing the MP40 and Thompson 1928 specifically.) The 9mm round weighs 7.45g, the .45 weighs 10.7g.

Couple of questions we wanted someone who knows their physics well to clarify:

-Which round will have the higher muzzle velocity?

-Which round will have more drag?

-Which round will retain it's initial velocity better and resist environmental effect?

-Which round will have the flatter trajectory?

-Which round will have the higher penetration?

-Which round will impart the most kinetic energy on impact?

Recently, my monitor has often been playing up. The motherboard works fine, and I can hear the sounds it should make from my startup programs, but the monitor itself won't work. If I take out the Video cable, it will detect there's no cable, but when I reconnect the cable, the monitor simply comes up with a message saying that it goes into sleep mode and won't do anything. I can't access the monitor menus by pressing the buttons either. The only way I can shut down the computer is of course a forced shut down. I've tried multiple VGA cables.

What would be the issue here, and what would I need to replace or fix? The monitor is at least 2 years old now.

I do covers of various songs of Youtube, but am confused as to how to word my titles because I seem to be giving off the impression to people I am claiming the original songs as my own when I am doing covers, and I have been receiving copyright notices as a result.

Currently, I've been wording like this: *Song Name* - *Original Artist* (*My Name*)

Should I word it differently or not?

I'm trying to find information on QR steam locomotives that were used on the Mackay-Netherdale/Cattle Creek Mill Branch Line, and in the Mackay region for a novel I am writing, focusing on a railway engineer who enlists in the Second World War. I'm aware the C17 and B18 were among the most common of QR's locomotives of the time, but I'm under the impression that these locomotives were more suited and used for mainline mixed, mail and goods services?

What classes of QR locomotives saw the most usage in the Mackay region, or on this branchline during the 1930's? What sort of cargoes were they designed to take? And how did the Sugar Crushing season affect their services?

If anyone could answer these main points, that would be much appreciated. :)

What would be the average time for a journey across the Atlantic in the early 1800's in say a Corvette style ship?

I'm trying to find information about the Order of Battle during the Battle of Talavera. I know the Spanish had access to about 30 guns, and the British deployed over 1000 artilleryman, but I can't find any information on the French artillery setup during the battle. Did the French have artillery during the Battle of Talavera or was it just purely infantry and cavalry? I find this a little hard to believe because it's not French doctrine.

I've seen sources that say he earned his Dukedom after Talavera, some that say after Vitoria, some that say after Toulouse and some that say after Waterloo. Does anyone know which battle it was that gave him the title of The Duke of Wellington?

I am looking for Regimental Military tunes (and lyrics if the march has any) for common tunes used during the 1700's or the later Napoleonic Wars, for one to implement being sung by soldiers during a scene in my novel set during the Iberian Peninsular War.

I am listing in the Australian Army as an Artilleryman and I have my job assessment coming up next month. The ADF are yet to send me job information that I was told I'd be receiving by a few days ago, so I wanted to know what are some general things I should know about Artillerymen that they'll ask me about?

I was recently watching a show on our brain's ability to create pareidolia. Originally it claimed that pareidolia was a defense mechanism to evade predators, by being enhanced to recognize a threat - ie seeing a face in the woods and knowing that you're being stalked by something, or enhanced recognizing of an animal growling to know that it's following you. Currently it is meaningless however, because we are no longer being hunted or attacked.

However, is it possible to enhance the instinct of pareidolia in a soldier, to enhance his ability to locate a camouflaged enemy? Does military training already do this?

I wish to record some Battleground Europe/WWIIOL dogfighting gameplay footage on the PC but I am unsure as to what would be the best recorder to use. I have tried Fraps, which is what everyone usually recommends, but it only results in severe lag when recording. Are there any other good recording programs out there that you would recommend?

All the sudden my keyboard on my home computer has stopped working. It will not work, and I do not know what caused it (it was a sudden thing.) The USB port is fine - I can plug my mouse in there and it will work just fine. The keyboard itself seemed fine until now. The computer will not detect it under it's device manager.

What could have caused this, and besides replacing the keyboard how can I fix this?
