How do you transition from the relative minor of the fourth back to the root?
I was creating a masterpiece and I made the mistake of transitioning from C to D minor and staying in D minor for a few measures. Are there any clever ways to get back to C quickly? I think trying to throw in a G7 would be incredibly tacky. Any ideas very, very much appreciated :)

6 AntwortenPolls & Surveysvor 1 JahrzehntHow should we split up this project?
My group in sociology class is presenting a seminar on transformation of social relationships due to technology. We are trying to assign each person a topic to research. There are four of us, one of whom will talk about technology and social relationships in the past. How should we split up this topic for the other three?
We thought of having one person talk about how people communicate using technology and another person talking about how people communicate and how relationships work when technology is present (as when a TV is on or when someone receives a text while in a conversation).
1 AntwortHomework Helpvor 1 JahrzehntIs the word "on" always a preposition?
The answer is no, I'm 99.9% positive of that. But if you said "The road ran on," it isn't a preposition because it doesn't form a relationship either with the word "road" or the word "ran". Or does it? I don't quite grasp this whole thing. If not a preposition, what part of speech is this word "on"?

12 AntwortenBooks & Authorsvor 1 JahrzehntWhat effect does utopian writing have on the reader?
This isn't really a homework question, just something I'm having a hard time researching. I'm here for ideas only... I'm not cheating. I swear.
By this question, I mean what does the reader think about? How does the reader feel? What kind of impact is utopian work intended to have on the life of the reader? Even, what kind of style is utopian writing written in?
Answer one or all. It's cool.

There is this one that you have to stare at for ten minutes or so. You get sore eyes. There is one box that is green and one that is fluorescent... fuschia or something, and one has horizontal lines in black, and the other vertical. After you've flipped back and forth for a while, certain formations of lines appear in pink and green for the next 5-24 (I made those numbers up) hours. What's it called?

When i was in Newfoundland (like, Canada :P) in Grade 10, we got one of those textbook anthologies teachers always make you read- you know, with the poems, short stories, essays, short plays. It may or may not have been an Echoes book. There was one play in it that was really creepy. It was about a kid who is stressing about a test and basically starts seeing stuff... people holding up signs with all the answers etc... at different points throughout it there are people passing stuff to each other and saying "this is a ____" (and then the next person would say) "a what?" "a _____" (with the name of the item obv. you know the game right?). well at the end the kid wakes up from the classroom (which has turned nightmarish) and his mom tells him he's fallen asleep and he should get up for school, he has a test today, but then she fades out and the whole scene comes back. anyway i cant for the life of me remember the name, and somehow i need to find the script. i am completely lost. PLEASE, at least tell me if it rings a bell... DX
*PS. there was another creepy play in the book about a girl who is chased into an abandoned bus station by somebody who wants to kill her or something, and then a nice man comes in and sits down and talks to her, and well to ruin that plot for you ends up being the same person who wanted to kill her (or whatever). i dont need the name of that one.. but if it jogs your memory at all..... lol?
