Switching between 45W and 95W CPUs?
I'd like to upgrade my Athlon II x2 to something in the x3 or x4 variety. Most of these are 95W thermal designs, as opposed to the 45W unit I currently run on. If I were to get a CPU with a compatible socket but a different thermal spec, is there a chance that my cheap motherboard won't be able to hand the power demands? Or is a bigger cooling unit going to be my own concern?
2 AntwortenDesktopsvor 9 JahrenWhy doesn't my Rebel T3 auto-bracket when I tell it to?
I have a T3 (yes I know, cheap little toy) that's supposed to support auto-bracketing, and has menu controls for such that are fairly easy to understand. The only problem is: it ignores the auto-bracket settings and just takes pics as usual.
I've followed tutorials and am quite sure that I did in fact turn auto-bracketing on. I saw the little plus and minus dots extended to either side of the zero on scale. But when I pull the contents off the memory card, it's just a jpeg and a cr2 file, no bracketed versions.
I did see some strange feedback on the camera preview which made me think that something about the light levels and exposure were causing the camera to auto-disable the auto-bracketing, but not knowing how to read the hieroglyphics of a modern camera, I can only shrug at what they meant. Clearly the tutorials have oversimplified the reality.
Can someone either point me to a full-fledged tutorial that explains the conditions upon which the camera will decide to ignore the auto-bracket settings, or just tell me what the secret magical formula is?

I got my labret done with a stud 3 days ago, and it's annoying the hell out of my gums. I want to swap it out for a ring as soon as possible, but my lip is still pretty inflamed. How long do I need to wait before I can pull it out?

In general terms, is a cubic meter of smelted metal (let's say iron) going to weight more than a cubic meter of compressed granite and obsidian?
3 AntwortenEarth Sciences & Geologyvor 1 JahrzehntAny way to get image dimensions without downloading the file?
I would like to write a function (C#, not that it should matter) that will accept an image URL and do a web request to get the dimensions. I'm afraid that they only way to do this is to download the entire file into server memory.
Doing a HEAD request gets me the number of bytes, but that doesn't seem to help much.
Are there any low-bandwidth ways to scrape an image's dimensions?
2 AntwortenProgramming & Designvor 1 JahrzehntHow do install PHP 5.3 on a Win XP machine? (And have it actually work)?
And please don't refer me to some web page. I know that there's all kind of voodoo magic that "they" suggest, I want to know if anyone understands how this sloppy excuse for a platform actually works.
3 AntwortenProgramming & Designvor 1 JahrzehntWhat are the industry standard tools and SDKs for PHP developers?
I've spent most of my life writing VB and .NET applications, and only recently have I started to tinker with PHP. I'd like to know what IDE's and such are favored by professionals who turn out websites based on the LAMP platform.
I'm running Windows XP myself, so if I can get suggestions that don't involve a reformat to Ubuntu, that would be rockin'. Freeware is always nice to know also.
Thanks in advance.

I'd like to buy a truck in Washington and drive it to California. I know that vehicles shipped to other states are usually not compliant with the CA laws. If it's just a matter of installing some extra parts, I might go ahead and buy a 1995 to 1998 Ford Explorer. Not sure how to find out, even dealers never know this stuff.
2 AntwortenMaintenance & Repairsvor 1 JahrzehntAre the Shadow ACE and Aero electronics the same?
Some piece of **** cut the wire harness on my VT750C ACE. I see a harness on ebay that says it is for VT750C, but since it's a 2004 I assume it's off an Aero, not an Ace. The two bikes have the same engine but not the same dash. Can I use the harness from one model on the other?
