At the beginning of the year, I remember hearing that we would be receiving the stimulus checks again this year to make up for the fact that our SSI checks weren't rising at all. Well, it's the middle of July... What happened? I mean beside the obvious.

8 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntAspies how do you cope?
My son, an aspie, is on his the path to coming home from his current placement(hospital). He does not know this yet, all he know is that he has a home visit this week-end.In the past three days he has had four 'fits'. I'm afraid that this will cause them (the hospital) to say that he is not ready to come home. I tried telling him to concentrate on his visit home if he felt a fit coming on, but I got a call later that night telling me of another one. He told me that it wouldn't work.
How do you cope? Is it the same every time? How did you develop your coping system? How can I help my son?
4 AntwortenMental Healthvor 1 JahrzehntAre there Asperger blackouts?
My son is in placement right now. he was on track to coming home at the end of the month, but today he had one of his fits where he threw a table and hit a staff member. at least that is what I was told on the phone this afternoon. Tonight when I was talking with him he says he remembers hitting the staff, but has no memory of throwing a table. This means one of three things, he's lying to me, they (staff) are lying to me (which is unlikely), or worse case scenario, he blacked-out the table incident altogether.
Are blackouts common for Aspies? I haven't heard them associated before... I don't know what to think.

When you find that you have something huge looming over your head how do you find that you talk to yourself. Do you tell yourself that it will have a certain outcome, plead with yourself for a positive ending, wish for a happy conclusion, or none of the above?

I just lost 80 pounds and have loose skin and stretch marks that I want to disguise. I thought a tattoo might be a good way to do this. 5 AntwortenHairvor 1 JahrzehntIf religion is a personal journey then why?
I understand, to a point, the belief in one thing above all else. What I have a quandary about is why one belief should be seen to hold more value than another...From one angle, all that would be seen is a round eraser. If you change the view, now there is a straight pencil. Both statements are correct, yet contradict one another. It is all a matter of your point of view.
Every persons perspective is varied. Even the same god would be different to two separate souls. Religion is a personal journey, what is right for one person is not always right for the other. Why does that make one peson bad...not because of their behavior, but for the way they believe. Just like the certainty that Christians feel in their souls that 'God is the alpha and omega', others do not, or they have it for other gods.

3 AntwortenHairvor 1 JahrzehntWhat is your opinion on this banned book?
http://www.modbee.com/local/story/553033.html
Xians seem so afraid of the chance that children might actually see something that actually keep their child's minds open, or even worse open theirs...that is if they actually read it. It is a very closed way of thinking. "We do not agree, therefore it must be wrong. Get rid of it. It couldn't possibly hold merit."
Just because I am not Christian, doesn't mean I think the bible should be banned. Books are meant to be read. The information inside digested.
As far as the 'profane language and depictions of sexuality', it is also a coming of age story. To be applicable to today's teen it would require at least some of these things for realism. We all know it's the 'Pagan content' that is in dispute here.
