I just watched a pass of it over my location, with an impressive brightening and fading due to its slow tumble (roughly 30-45 seconds between consecutive maximum brightness periods, sorry so vague, I didn't think to time the period). Based on the limiting magnitude of the nearby stars, I would estimate it peaked at about magnitude +1.5 and faded to fainter than +4.0 (my limiting magnitude in that region of the sky tonight, not sure how faint it actually got, but I did lose sight of it) before regaining sight of it and its return to around +1.5.

It reminded me of an observation about 11 years ago, when I saw my first tumbling satellite (I believed it to be Raduga 33, but sites like heavens-above weren't available to me at the time), which really ignited my passion for satellite viewing.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for tumbling payloads that fluctuate in apparent magnitude so much?

The drum will spin a little less than one full revolution, then a loud 'clunk' is head and it stops. I can spin it by hand in reverse endlessly, but when spinning it forward, it cannot complete one full spin. If I move the belt by hand, it does not come to a stop at all, and continues moving (in either direction) without any resistance.

All other functions of the washer seem to operate normally. It fills, washes, agitates, and drains fine. It just gets to the spin cycle and sounds like a death ray as it tries to spin but doesn't.

Do I need to replace the belt? Or something else? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

If gravity propagates at light speed, and there are objects beyond our observable horizon, would it be accurate to conclude that beyond the observable horizon, we are not gravitationally perturbed by such objects.

Does the inverse square rule only apply to objects we can see?

Follow up question.

If they don't have any affect, would it be possible to detect the presence of such an object based on its gravitational influence on an object just barely within our observable horizon, assuming our detection methods for such a ridiculous scenario were sensitive enough?

I remember seeing an excellent documentary about this event a few years back, I think it was on PBS. The documentaries I've been able to find so far aren't very detailed. Links would be great, or search engine terms you might suggest for me.

I've always heard them referred to as hypothetical, and no sighting claims have ever been confirmed. Would it be possible to detect them if they passed in front of a star, would we be able to measure the minute change in brightness to determine if they are really there?

1). Wouldn't this cause greater eccentricities of the planets affected, than what we observe today?

2). If accurate, could this period be responsible for Uranus' peculiar obliquity?

I've had this thought rummaging through my mind for a while, and maybe the biosphere is too dynamic to project all the variables, but I think it would be interesting to see some other ideas.

1. We would be in competetion with currently domesticated animals for plants to eat.

2. Grasslands for grazing would be converted into crops for human consumption, would we be able to turn over our fields fast enough for consecutive harvests?

3. The cost of produce would go up, with the extreme and sudden increase in demand

4. ???

I am trying to record my voice on a certain website, but in the process, after I select 'allow the website to access my microphone,' I am suddenly receiving a message that states they cannot access my microphone.

I have attempted a similar process on a couple other websites, with identical results.

I am thinking I have inadvertently turned off my mic. But I even shut down my computer and started it back up again, with the repeated undesired result. Where do I go and/or what should I do to resolve this problem?

Is there any data available, for any local region, that compares the meteorological forecast 24 hours in advance to the actual weather that occurred during the predicted time-frame?

I'm mostly looking for predicted temperatures and precipitation compared to the actual. Winds and cloudy/clear would be helpful too, but not necessary. I would prefer something with a timespan of at least one full year, without gaps in the data... multiple locations would be a bonus!
