Can someone provide an example on how devaluations affect a contract between a lender and debtor? ?
I'm trying to understand this passage from a book I'm reading, but I don't get it. Can someone provide an example based on this quote here?
Here's the passage: "The devaluations of the national currency compare to foreign currencies can hurt both parties of financial contracts of loans. If there is a payment due at 3 months that is labeled in a strong currency, the purchaser-importer is left with goods with a higher cost price than the locally-producing competition. Importers are condemned to sell with a loss.
On the other hand, a contract signed in a weak currency meant that a seller-exporter had to convert its payment at 3 months into the local currency at a lower than expected exchange rate. "

2 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrQuestion on early banking?
Ok, first off, hi! I am reading a book, "The history of money for understanding economics" by Vincent Lannoye.
Whether you're familiar with the book or not, I'm struggling to decipher a passage in the book. The author points out that in time of antiquity, banks would try to preserve the amount of gold in their reserves (in order to multiply the loans they can offer later) by
1) Encouraging their clients from withdrawing coins from their deposits and loans.
2) Favoring written transfer orders between their "bank accounts" to settle any payments without coin withdrawal.
I'm struggling to figure out how those methods solve that issue. I don't know if anyone can conjure up an example for clarity. I appreciate any help
1 AntwortCreditvor 2 JahrenI'm looking for a "brief" rundown of what's going on around the world. Can anyone assist?
Point blank, I don't really know what's going on around the world. More specifically, I don't know how events post WWII have led the world to where it is now.
I was hoping to get some background (as much as anyone's willing to provide) before I start reading any articles or books. For instance...
1. Saudi Arabia and whatever issues they have with surrounding countries
2. What issues are surrounding other Middle Eastern countries that resulting in their people fleeing for Europe or elsewhere?
3. Europe and the significance of the EU
4. The relationship between the US, Russia and China
5. China extending its reach into Africa
6. How did North Korea become a nuclear power?
I'm not looking for someone to answer all these questions. If someone can answer one or two, that could point me in the right direction. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

From what I understand, MRSA is resistant to a huge number of antibiotics, including vancomycin which is often used as a last resort.
But I've read that MRSA are a bit susceptible to novobiocin. I'm curious as to why that isn't addressed more, unless I haven't looked further into it

I've checked a Youtube video on it but it wasn't very reliable.
For example, once I press data put my data in the first column of the table, I'm supposed to press 2nd and then "stat-reg/distr". Then I press "statvars" and press enter.
But some message says "Calculate 1-Var, 2-Var or a Regression" and I don't know what that means.

3 AntwortenMathematicsvor 6 JahrenI'm struggling understanding this statistics question?
Express the absolute uncertainty in
[3.43 (+- 0.08) * 10^-8] + [2.11 (+- 0.04) * 10^-7]
My textbook states I must express each term with the same power of ten. So it advises that the 2nd number become a multiple of 10^-8.
So the 2nd number will become 21.1 (+-0.4) * 10^-8 and the absolute uncertainty is 24.5 (+-0.4) * 10^-8.
However, I decided to try making the first number a multiple of 10^7 or (0.343) (+-0.008) * 10^-7. But I wound up getting a different answer.
I guess my question is how will I know which multiple to use if I encounter a similar problem
1 AntwortMathematicsvor 6 JahrenWhy did some classmates compliment me so much?
People generally do that when they are impressed with how "smart" I am and how I answer questions. Normally I don't really mind it but sometimes it gets a bit unnecessary. For example, one girl addressed that she "better" see me as a doctor someday since I know so much. I'm not really even interested in becoming one so I would hope that she doesn't feel let down in the future.
For one, I don't think I'm the smartest even though I aim to get the highest grade on a test at times. Secondly, there are plenty of people who know more about a subject than I do. Why aren't they complimented enough? For example, we had basically a game where we answer questions based on what we learned this semester. We were separated into teams and this one guy in our group was a huge help. He knew far more than I but all I heard was the occasional good job.
I guess I'm disgruntled because I'm your stereotypical quiet/socially inept student so I wonder if they are doing that to "boost" my self esteem. That's my biggest gripe towards this. I'm open to opinions on this.

1 AntwortPsychologyvor 6 JahrenA couple questions about the urea cycle?
I know before the urea cycle begins, an amino acid has to go through a reaction to free up NH3.
In the case of glutamate, does it matter if it is either glutamate or its ionic form, glutamic acid? Different sources are telling me that it is one or the other.
Different sources are also telling me that either CO2 or HCO3- are used in the urea cycle to form carbamoyl phosphate. Do both substances work?
