I just heard this today. Do I need to stock up on it before it goes "bye bye" forever? All helpful answers appreciated greatly!!!

I now live in Portland, Oregon and it rains a lot here in the winter months. I'm looking for suggestions as to how to keep my photos interesting in an environment where the dominant color seems to be gray (and "dark"). I prefer to shoot in color and am wondering how to deal with the very "gray" weather. Also, because of the rain, I need to either get a weatherproof camera or do something to protect them. I use film and digital cameras and so far don't like the waterproof digital cameras much. Thanks to all with helpful answers!

All things being equal if you take a Rolleiflex/Zeiss lens, a Pentax 67 lens and a Mamiya 7II lens the rendition of the color, the sharpness, etc., will be noticeably different to the trained eye. What causes this difference? Why doesn't glass just... well... act like glass? Or is this a myth that keeps being put forth by photographers? I've seen differences in different types of lens glass so what is it that affects the color rendition of a lens for the Mamiya 7II, etc., vs. any other lens all other things being relatively equal?

I know these are VERY different cameras. I am looking for people with personal experience with one or both cameras and know their strengths and weaknesses. I like the lighter weight and lens quality of the Mamiya. I like the option of the availability of relatively inexpensive lenses (and macro and telephoto option) of the Pentax. What is your opinion on this and why? Thank you!!!

I just put a "new" battery in a Nikon FE that I recently acquired. The battery might not be 100% because the battery test light does not come on but the meter DOES move when the light level is changed. However, when I change the aperture on every lens I have put on it so far the needle does NOT move. Is this because the battery is too weak or because of something else? I used 4 different lenses for this, two of which are Nikon and two are Vivitar. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I like cameras and someone recently gave me two "vintage" Nikon 35mm SLR cameras and some lenses, all free. Other than love its one of the coolest things I ever received "gratis". How about you?

I live in Portland, Oregon. It is rated as the most promiscuous city in the United States. Its on the Cascadia Volcanic Range. Two volcanoes are visible from Portland including Mt. St. Helens, the most active volcano in the Cascadia range. If we need to sacrifice a virgin to appease the gods what are we going to do?

It doesn't bother me a lot but I want to SELL them and it might put off a potential buyer. How can I kill that mildew odor? Do I need to take the guitar apart and spray the body or is there another way? I've posted a similar question before but not satisfied with those answers. Thanks!

I got these guitars on a trade. Other than the mildew smell they seem to be just fine. The smell makes me sneeze! I want to know how to kill the mildew without killing the guitar. HELP!!!

I see the term "gentile" and was wondering if this applies strictly to Christians or does it apply to others as well such as Buddhists, or pantheists, etc. What I'm wondering is whether or not it is accurate anymore to label myself as a "gentile". Thank you! :)

I see that there are actually several places that are good and was just wondering about personal experiences any of you might have had. Most of these are older model cameras with little or no electronics, but some of them have some electronics such as built-in light meters. Thanks!

There are a lot of "mods" out there for these things but I want to know what is available and what seems to be the most popular. The reverb tank on mine is toast, btw, but I've heard nobody really loves those anyway and it would cost $50 to fix and the amp would be worth only $50 more. So what are some cool mod choices for this little beastie? Thanks in advance to all who give good answers!

I put this in "blues" because that's the kind of music I do - more blues ROCK, but I don't plan on turning my Blues Jr. into a high gain monster either, but I would LOVE to see a metal head using a tweed Blues Jr. - wouldn't you? It would be hilarious!

I see some promising places but want to check up on reputations a little bit more. There seems to be at least a half a dozen places or more for this. I just want to know which ones are recommended - nice sales people, etc.

I just moved to Portland and would like to know some opinions on where the best camera shops are. This does NOT have to be limited to Portland but for now that is what I am looking for. This includes camera shops that sell high-end digital Nikon or Canon cameras and pro-level camcorders (does not have to be the same store). There is also a FILM camera store here but not sure which one and I would LOVE to try them out as I use both film and digital cameras. Thanks!!!

Do any of you have any helpful advice on living in Portland, Oregon? We are looking for a decent credit union (among other things) and are hoping to find one near or in the Montavilla neighborhood. I am aware of the "Onpoint" credit union which seems to be the biggest... but is it the best? Any other information about living here would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!!!

Any news on when production will go back to normal levels? Any news on when some new higher-end cameras might be announced? The disasters in Japan have affected this but I am having a hard time finding out information in regards to the factories returning to a normal production schedule or even rumors about new cameras being announced or released. I see all kinds of ads for these and when I look at the specs... nope! I see that some consumer camcorders can do this - I am interested in both but I'm trying to find a pro-level camcorder with this capability. I hear that the Sony Playstation 3 has 1080p 60p playback capability but there is so much bad information out there. Please provide a source (if you can) so I can verify the information. Thanks!!!
