  • I need ideas on how to properly care for a Boston Terrier?

I am used to boxers, but ours recently passed. Unfortunately we didn't take her out a lot, because it's harder with bigger dogs. We decided to go with a small dog this time around, so we purchased a Boston Terrier. They look like mini boxers to me. :) With this pup, I really want to make sure I'm giving him the proper amount of daily exercise, but my only concern is the fact that I have a young child (1.5 years), and another on the way. I'm a stay at home Mom, so spending time with my dog won't be a problem, and I'm big into proper training, but I need some ideas on how to exercise my dog while taking care of 2 small children. Where I live, there are no sidewalks, so walking with kids and a dog near my house is out of the question. Unless I go alone at night, which is also not the smartest. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance.

  • I need help! Am I pregnant?

OK, so I haven't been trying to get pregnant, I've actually been in the process of losing weight, but Anyway, I had a period the ended at the beginning of last week. At the end of that week I randomly got really nauseous. I lied down and the next morning was fine. I thought it was odd, but didn't look too much in to it. Then this week, I noticed I wasn't losing weight though I was sticking to a strict diet and workout routine. I usually lose several ounces a day, but for 3 days straight, I stayed the same, and actually gained a few ounces. Then I randomly got sick again, to the point of throwing up. Took a nap, and woke up alright. By this point I had a sneaking suspicious I was pregnant, though just thought, nah, not possible. Too close to my period, but to rule it out, I took a hpt. If I didn't have the funny feeling I was pregnant, I woulda thought the test was negative, but I looked real close and found a veeeeeeery faint blue line. I mean, it's itty bitty, but distinctly blue. Then I was like, well, I'll wait till tomorrow, and do a morning pee, and maybe the line will be darker. Took a test this morning, and it was completely negative. I'm thinking three possibilities. Evaporation line, early positive, or I actually miscarried and the positive was from lingering hormones. I just don't understand why I would start to get sick after my period. Can anyone help with this, or had experience with it? I'm really confused. I plan on waiting another few days to take a test. My last period lasted 5 days. Was very light, but there was bright red blood, and brown blood. No cramping. Thanks in advance!

  • What could be causing this abdominal pain?

I gave birth almost exactly 6 months ago vaginally. The delivery was super fast. Literally 1 contraction and 2 pushes. She was out in 2 minutes. Labor went fantastic, but ever since then my abdomen has been tender. I went back for my 12 week post partum check up, she checked my uterus and such, and said everything was back in place, but during all that poking and prodding it really hurt! (It's never hurt before). I didn't say anything, cause I thought it was normal, plus I was making an in pain face, LOL. Anyway, the pain has been persistent through these last months, but not severe. Yesterday it seemed to be worse. I was playing with my daughter(the six month old), and she stood on my abdomen for a minute and it hurt pretty bad. It's also tender during sex. It's not a debilitating pain, but still uncomfortable, none the less. It seemed to feel better after a hot shower too. Anyone have any ideas or experience in this area? My only symptom is pain. No redness, swelling, discharge of any kind, and no smell. Nothing wrong when I pee either. I'm rather confused. Maybe its a pulled muscle from the fast delivery?

  • Should I wake my baby up for night time feedings?

My baby girl just turned 4 months old. At around 3 months old, my baby started sleeping 8-10 hours at night. Just recently for over a week now, she's been sleeping 12 hours straight with no feedings. She's a little baby, and I'm wondering if I should start waking her up for feedings. She's happy and active during the day, and I try to get 6-8 feedings during the day, but it seems to me--since she started sleeping for longer stretches she's not gaining as much weight. She was gaining 2lbs for the first 2 months, but has only gained 1.5 pounds for these last 2 months combined. Anyone have any ideas? She was 6lbs 7oz when born, and she is now around 11 lbs 11 oz.

This is a picture of my daughter around 2.5 months old.

  • Is my baby's weight gain normal?

My little girl was induced at 39 weeks. She was 6lbs 7oz when she was born--19 inches long. She gained on average 2lbs per month for the first 2 months. However, she's 4 months old (today)--and has only gained about 1.5 lbs since her 2 month check up (she's 11 lbs 11oz now, 23.5 inches long). She's always eaten really frequently--she's super active--she has 7 or more wet diapers in a day. She has a bowel movement every other day now--back when she was a newborn it was several times a day (the mustard colored kind). She is a happy baby--she's got fat on her--but she's pretty lean. She started rolling over at 3 months--and even started sitting up on her own at 3.5 months old (not for long, but she can still do it). She's sleeping through the night now consistently 12.5 hours without feedings. She seems to be progressing quickly when it comes to everything else, but weight gain. Should I be concerned, or does she sound normal and healthy? For background info--my husband is super active, and I was also a very lean baby--and we're both short--me 5'3" and my husband is around 5'5". Do you think it's just genetics? Should I call the doctor? If you average it out she's gaining over a pound a month...but still. Do you think I should wake her up for night feedings? I didn't force her to sleep this long--she did it completely on her own. Anyway, any information would be good here! Thanks in advance :)

  • I'm 36 weeks pregnant and haven't gained weight for 2 months?

I'm just about 36 weeks pregnant, and haven't gained any weight for just about 2 months. Is that normal? I'm eating regularly, I was working out--but haven't really done that lately. As far as my doctor's appointments go--they say I'm measuring normal--and I feel the baby moving all the time...but I'm just curious--why have I stopped gaining weight? I've gained about 20lbs since I got pregnant, and seem to be plateauing there. Any ideas why?

  • Why would I want a carseat adapter for my stroller?

I'm looking at a Britax B-Agile stroller for my baby. However, I noticed that this particular stroller--though it comes with a car-seat adapter, holds newborns up to 55lbs. Why would I want to buy a car-seat that goes into the stroller, if it can hold newborns without a car-seat? I may be dense concerning this issue, lol, cause this is my first baby. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

  • Why am I feel weakness in my arms?

I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant, and was just diagnosed with glucose intolerance (not quite gestational diabetes). Probably a few weeks before my diagnosis, I started noticing a weakness in my arms. I don't get it all the time, but I'm noticing it more and more after I eat. It's super annoying. I have an appointment with a dietitian next week, but until then, has anyone else had these same symptoms? What was causing it? I'm not overweight--my doctor says I'm fine in that area. I work out 2-4 days a week, and since I was told about my glucose intolerance, I'm not eating any sweets. I don't eat white bread--only whole wheat, but I do love my carbs--like mac and cheese and potatoes and such. I only eat out once--maybe twice a week. Anybody know what I can try to make this stop?

  • What do you think of the name?

Sofia Rayne Bridges? I'm a huge fan of giving names that are meaningful. I am an artist and my husband is a musician. The meaning of Rayne is Song (which is meaningful to my husband), and/or decisive warrior (which is very similar to the meaning of my husband's name-watchful warrior)or strong council. Sofia means wisdom. Sofia is a very classical name, and I wanted something a little more unique for her middle name, but not weird. What are your thoughts?

  • I'm pregnant, why do I feel bad after the gym?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, and I started going to the gym about 2-3 weeks ago. All I typically do is light cardio--like walking briskly on the treadmill, etc. I do some light weight lifting--typically no free weights--so I don't injure myself. However, I've noticed, when I leave the gym and go home, instead of being in a good mood--like they say you will, I just feel ornery--you know...just a bad mood. Is this common? Is this possibly a sign that I'm over doing it at the gym? I only work out for about 1 to 1.5 hours. Since I started, my blood pressure has gotten better--which is a good sign, right? I'm not over weight--I just started working out again, because I heard it was good for me and the baby. Any incite?

  • My baby isn't moving as much as before, is this normal?

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant, and I've felt fetal movement on pretty much an every day basis--specifically when I wake up in the morning, and when I go to bed at night--since about 16 weeks. However, since yesterday, I've felt hardly anything. I still feel some movement, but it seems weaker than previously. I'm freakin' out a little bit, cause I am just imagining my baby is dying or something...I know, more likely the baby has just moved somewhere in my belly that I can't feel her as well. Has anyone had experience with this? Should I be worried, or call into my doctor? I don't want to freak out over every little thing, but her movements just seem so different than before--that I'm nervous.

  • What middle names go with Sophia?

My husband and I just found out we're having a little girl, and we can't agree on names hardly at all--but the one name we both likes is Sophia--but we can't seem to agree on a middle name that goes with it. Our last name is Bridges. Any ideas!?

  • Can someone help me with the meaning of my Ultrasound measurements?

The ultrasound technician said everything was normal, but I just want to know what everything means. These are my baby girls measurements:

    BDP(Hadlock) 4.36 cm--Age: 19w1d Range: 17w3d-20w6d Dev. 27.6%

    OFD (HC) 6.30 cm

    HC (Hadlock) 17.17 cm--Age: 19w5d Range: 18w2d-21w2d Dev. 43.8%

    AC (Hadlock) 14.40 cm--Age: 19w5d Range: 17w5d-21w6d Dev. 45.1%

    FL (Hadlock) 3.20 cm--Age: 20w0d Range: 18w1d-21w5d Dev. 52.4%

    2D Calculations:

    CI (BPD/OFD) 69% (70-86%)

    FL/HC (Hadlock) 19% (17-19%)

    FL/BPD 74% (GA: OOR)

    FL/AC 22% (20-24%)

I'm really confused at all the percentages, because they are all so different. I really want to know why the BPD age seems so much younger than the rest of the measurements. Also, what do the Dev. % stand for?--and the 2D Calculation percentages mean? The US tech said everything was normal and average, but I'm a little nervous about the BPD--if someone can tell me what all this stuff means, maybe I'll feel a little better. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

  • Is it normal to not really have a baby bump after 16 weeks?

I'm rather short (5'3"), and I'm over 17 weeks pregnant. Most people still comment that I don't look pregnant. I started out average weight--and I've gained about 7-8lbs. Every time I go to prenatal appointments, they can never find a heartbeat, because apparently my abdominal aorta is so loud it drowns out the baby's heart--so I've had 3 ultrasounds already, when I was only supposed to have 1 this far along. Anyway, so people telling me I don't look like I'm pregnant, and high stress doctor visits, because they can't seem to find the heartbeat ever, is leaving me a bit paranoid. I'll be going back for my 20 week check up in the beginning of January--and I'm a little nervous now. All my U/S have been textbook--I have no symptoms of miscarriage (I've had one in the past)--but I still can't help to feel like my baby isn't growing or something--anyone else feel this way--or have the same issues? I figured since I'm short, I'd pop out way sooner--where on earth is the baby hiding!?? LOL
