Has anyone ever made a purchase of an M1 from the CMP? I would like to own an M1 Garand that I can use for hunting. I am an Active Duty Soldier in Europe, I am a member of a Shooting Club, and am also legally permitted to own firearms and possess them in Europe.

What grades of Garands are considered a worthwhile investment? Do you have to spend the big bucks to get a garand that is like new, or do the older garands that have imperfections work properly when cared for with normal cleaning? What is the better route to go?

I am trying to determine which long gun manufacturers sell direct to the public. I know Weatherby does online sales through FFL holders, but what other companies are eliminating the middlemen?

Ehren Watada, LT who used his scholarship to West Point to complete his education, turned his back on his Soldiers and refused to deploy with his Stryker BN to Iraq. I want to know why the Army has not convicted him of the charges that he faces? The Army prosecutes and generally secures convictions for enlisted personnel who do the same thing, but by allowing him to ride out his commission assigned to a desk at Ft. Lewis aren't the leadership of I Corps condoning his behavior? If they are going to prosecute him, either secure a conviction, or overturn all convictions of enlisted Soldiers for the same offenses of missing movement and refusing to deploy.

I am hunting for the first time in Germany this year, after earning my German Hunting License (jagdschein). Roe Deer season opened 1 May, and this should be the first type of deer that I am able to harvest since I have been stationed here. List where you live, what was the first type of deer species that you legally harvested, and with what caliber ammo please.

Now that the man has had his breaking in period and is on the job, what happened to the pledge of his "transparent government"? I distinctly remembered him saying that he would post on the white house's .gov website all legislation that is pending his signature no later than 5 days prior to him signing any bill into law. Fact check me on this, but I think he struck out and broke one of the very first campaign promises that he made.

I read up on the Weatherby SUB-MOA, and it looks like they guarantee a shot group in .99" at 100 yards. Is this truly the most accurate out of the box rifle? What leupold scope / power / reticle combination would you mount on it? I plan on making a purchase of one of these in .30-06 through gunbroker.com, hopefully they will ship it to my FFL holder here in Germany. Any advice?

I am considering a purchase of a new hunting rifle; the 7mm Rem Mag that I currently own is too much weapon for me and has lost it's luster to shoot. I researched the .30-06 and the .308 and so far it looks like the .30-06 comes out on top for versatility and availability. So my question is, what manufacturer is the most affordable that is chambered in .30-06? I am thinking Weatherby or possibly Remington, or since I am in the Armed Forces stationed in Europe, maybe a Mauser or Sauer. I recently passed the infamous German Hunting Test, and will most likely be hunting Red Deer or Wild Boar while here. Thanks

I own a 1992 BMW 325i. Its a beater car for getting to points A & B. Last night my temperature gauge went into the red, we immediately parked and allowed the engine to cool overnight. In the morning, I released the radiator cap (for the fill tank) and filled to the cold line with the appropriate mix of coolant. I opened the air vent by loosening the screw while running the engine. within 5-7 minutes, the vehicle began to overheat again, and steam was being released from the air valve at the top of the radiator. Most of the coolant has been sucked into the radiator, but the gauge still reads overheating and there is no improvement. How do you fix this? Do I need to replace the water pump or the thermostat? There are no holes in the hoses, or leaks from the radiator.
