  • Doesn't it drive you nuts when you correctly answer a question and the asker picks an incorrect answer as best

No, it doesn't really drive me nuts, but it sure does make me wonder sometimes. I'm not talking about where a good answer gets picked over another good answer, or when the answer is an opinion based answer. I'm talking about stuff where there is a right answer and a wrong answer and the wrong answer is chosen over the right answer because the person asking wasn't bright enough to look up the sources for both answers or just picked the answer that they wanted to be right even though it wasn't. Anyone else find that annoying/odd/pointless/frustrating/a waste?

  • Why are Harry Potter spoilers so damaging to people?

I have no idea why people find it so disheartening to hear about a Harry Potter spoiler before reading the book. I see question after question complaining about spoiling the book. Are people really so thick that, if they see a comment that includes the words Harry, Potter, Deathly, or Hallows, that they can't stop reading? Also, if you read a spoiler, has it really ruined the book for you? That would suggest that the books really aren't that great. Since most Potter fans I know have read the book 5 or 6 times, I would suggest that the spoilers only matter if you let them matter. A good book can be read over and over and knowing the outcome does not matter in the least. So which is it people? Are the books crap that don't survive the spoiler test or are they indeed good books that no spoiler could ruin?

  • Who thinks they are so important that they can never shut their cell phone off?

Honestly, if you are at dinner (home or out), going to a movie, sitting in a meeting, or anyplace where your attention should be elsewhere, shut the cell phone off. No matter how important you think you are, you aren't.

  • Jedi mind trick or just awesome marketing skills?

If you nod your head when you ask someone to buy something, they are supposedly more inclined to buy it. One example is how the wait staff at a restaurant will ask if you want desert and nod their head up and down as they ask. Another example is when someone on tv tells you that you need a product and once again you will see them nodding 'yes' as part of the sales pitch. What is this called? There is a name for the head nod... and no it's not called the Jedi mind trick.

  • Vacation anyone?

    Vacation time during their terms...

    Carter - 79 Days during 1 term

    Reagan - 335 days during 2 terms

Bush, Sr. - 543 days during 1 term

    Clinton - 152 days during 2 terms

Bush, Jr. - 409 and counting during 2 terms... and he still has plenty of time left for more. Remember, his annual August vacation is coming up where he will tack on another 30 days or so.

Now keep in mind that he surpassed Reagan easily in his first term, but more amazingly, in that same time, he surpassed the THREE terms of Carter and Clinton combined (as did dear old dad).

Obviously, he takes after his dad, but then to criticize the Democrats for taking their vacations seems a bit hypocritical. Add to this that Washington is not pleased about the Iraqi parliament going on vacation and it makes you wonder... doesn't it?

Finally, Bush was on vacation on August 6, 2001, when he ignored the PDB "Bin Laden Determined to strike inside the U.S."

Is anyone else apalled? Can anyone explain this to me?

  • Does anyone else find anything that Jane Fonda says to be objectionable?

I just reported Ms. Fonda's question as abuse in the form of objectionable speech. I personally find anything she has to say as objectionable ever since listening to a friend of mine (a veteran) speak about her. What do you all think?

  • Disability awards to veterans have gone down!!!! DOWN?!?!! During WARTIME?!?!?!?

Does anyone else find this ludicrous? This from the administration that says that they are all about the military, that they are all about supporting the troops. Obviously, Republican support only goes as far as troops that are pulling triggers. Once they get wounded, they are considered dead weight and Republicans have left them hanging. Michael Kussman ignored problems with VA issues for years and Bush wants him to be in place permanently as the VA undersecretary for health? Again I ask, does anyone else find this Ludicrous?!?!?!?!

  • Can anyone help me find this book/album?

This book with accompanying album was something I treasured over 30 years ago called Finnerty Flynn and His 101 Things. It was done by Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) and I am desperately trying to find it. I have searched high and low and have only found the title mentioned by another fan in a review on Amazon.com. Please help. I'd like to get this for my nieces and nephews before they all hit their teens. One song mentioned a calico cat and another was titled (I think) "Well That's Music" or something like that. Even if someone remembers the lyrics to any of the songs, it would help a great deal.
