Girl A: She's cute and you don't know anything else about her besides the fact that she is always flirting with you, and how she seems to be very into social media and physical appearances. You know that this girl is probably the most attractive girl you will ever encounter in your nerd-centered world. Although this girl is a complete mystery, your intuition tells you that she might be very dull and hard to talk to about your career goals (which include obtaining an undergrad, and later on a phd, in physics).

Girl B: She's not very attractive, but she's someone that you have known for a while. She is genuinely hard working, funny, and highly intelligent - but she's weird (in an awesome way). You know that she would be more than just a dull and lifeless girl, she would probably be someone who has similar goals as yourself. However, she is also your research partner and any problems between you and her could result in an a very bad college grade and a loss of research funds (your only method of paying for college and your daily staple of nutritious ramen).

The situation: You see both of these girls everyday in the same college classes. Your partners with girl B, and you begin to notice that she has become very attached to you. However, girl A is always sitting next to or asking you for help during class for some of the most fundamental things. Girl B has also taken notice of this and seems to do everything in her power to keep her away.

What would you do?

I have switched to Linux because I hate the new windows 8, but I also hate the Ubuntu interface.I did not like any of the ubuntu spin offs either. I was wondering if I could still use all the programs that are on Ubuntu if I switch to linux mint. Alternatively, would I still find the same support and free stuff on Fedora as I do on Ubuntu?

I just recieved my final exam grade for my physics class and it was a 75.67. I got very sad, but my instructor saw the look on my face and told me that the class average, not taking into account all of the people who did not show up for the final and recieved a 0, was 67 and that the standard deviation was 18%. What does this mean?

I am about to start college next week and I am needing to purchase a new computer. Ideally, I would love to have a new Haswell i7 Desktop with 10+ ram and all that other good stuff, but I barely have enough money leftover after paying for school. I currently own a 4 year old dual-core amd laptop (very slow) that I can continue using for very light web browsing, but realistically, this thing has the same performance as a cheap android tablet. I am a physics/math major so I need to upgrade to something that can run sage, mathematica, autocad, etc. I honestly do not care to play any games on my computer.

In the desktop department, I was wondering if I should build an AMD FX machine with dual monitors and all the nice extras or a very basic i5 machine with only one monitor. The only pros to the AMD build would be that I would still have plenty of money leftover, but I understand that it is not nearly as fast or awesome as the i5.

On the other hand, if I choose to get a new laptop, should I get a 3rd or 4th generation quad-core i7?

My question is: What would you purchase on a $1,000 dollar budget?

FYI, I will never ever purchase anything running iOS, so please don't recommend a mac mini.

So I was praying to my lord and flavor, Cheesus, but it appears that my mac and cheese still doesn't not have that rich, cheesy Kraft flavor. I prayed over and over, I even repeated the instructions on the box, but it appears that Cheesus is deaf to my calls. Also, I no longer have the holy imagines imprinted on to my toast anymore.

To make matters worse, all of my cheez-its have turned into ritz and the cheesecake has turned into a ffaaawhh faawwhhh- oh I can't even say it - a FRUIT CAKE! Yes, that's right, all the cheese in my pantry has melted and vanished.

What should I do? It appears that Cheesus has left my life permanently. Should I just abandon all hope and become a RA'men man?

Whether it was symbolic, computer, or philosophical, did you ever attend a class or at least work your way through the entire book? (not counting quantum logic of course)

If you did, how could you not apply what you learned to the bible? And if you did, how come you never came across any contradictions that were illogical - or did you ignore them?

If you never have taken a course in logic, what makes you so sure your religion/god/beliefs are the correct beliefs? Just because you say or feel something doesn't make it so. And also, if the bible was really the "truth" you would have nothing to fear from applying logic to it, sense things that are true tend to withstand every test.

Simply, why does the Bible always contradict itself or explicitly ask us to perform barbaric acts against others?

Let's think back to the pre-enlightment era, why did people change their interpretation of the bible? How about after they proved the earth was round and we are not the center of the universe like the bible claimed? How about when all those people were killed in the name of god? Oh, and let's not forget how we used to oppress women and slaves because the bible specifically stated that they were not equal to a (white) male.

If your response is that the bible has these passages that specifically stated support for these acts as a hyperbole, why would the interpretation of a hyperbole change every few years? It seems to me that even a hyperbole cannot change that often. And why would the bible contradict facts that we have know to be true?

Bonus Question: Fireball, why do you always use CAPS on everything? Do you have no respect for the Language of English or is your key board broken? Why can't you respond properly without resorting to yelling?
