I'm doing an essay on the evolution of language and a section of the essay compares terms in modern English with old English terms that have a similar meaning - in an attempt to 'trace' the evolutionary aspect of the language on a 'short term bases'...

I know that the vow was introduced 'in the old time/day' as a formal term 'to dedicate' and a promise is a fairly new term, compared to history, that tends to be taken to lightly all to often. But is there any real difference between the two terms... Like, would it be correct to say that you would VOW to make a lifestyle change (like getting married) but PROMICE to do a specific task (like fix the bike this weekend)? Meaning the two terms technically couldn't be interchanged in this application... or could they?

FYI - only COOL intelligent answers please, no robotic answers like links to the dictionary or wiki or a simple yes of no... try to explain - give some good examples, I'm more or less looking for a general public opinion, sort of an expansion of the literal definitions, so feel free to involve your own theories and opinions - remember I'm looking for evidence of evolution in the language. There are 2 types of weight issues: The most common is of coerce keeping the weight off. But what if the table are turned... think about it, My sister has this issue, commonly referred to an overactive metabolism. Her diet consist of VERY high fat, so much so that an average person would call it the prefect diet to get fat with, yet she still looses weight. so witch is worst... what do you think?

I already understand how to do this with one screen (Window>arrange - OR - by using the 'arrange documents' icon located at top/center) How do you set these options on a second screen, in a signal second window? Simply dragging the tab of the screen(image.psd OR file) to second screen only allows cascading if each image is in its own window. I'm looking for cascading options with mutable images ON THE SECOND MONITOR IN ONE WINDOW. This is an advanced 'power user' question so I'm looking for a response from another power user. WARNING: I will remove your answer if its unproductive. Thanks for everyone's help regarding this. I'm using a Windows 7 x64 PC. NOT MAC.
