I want to connect a PS3 or a DVD player to a tablet, via HDMI cable, for viewing DVDs. Will a tablet become a simple monitor if connected via HDMI lead to the DVD player? I.e. will it show the film and produce the sound, just like a Television would if plugged into the DVD player?

This is the first time I have been self-employed and had to fill out a tax return. There are two deadlines, one towards the end of October (this month) for the paper copy, and one for the end of January 2014 for the online copy. I want to do it online. Do I need to say anything to HMRC about not doing it in paper form, or can I just fill it in online later on?

I have heard that the only choice is really between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. What do you think? Or should I wait a little longer for something coming out soon that looks great? I would be prepared to wait until Xmas.

Money isn't an issue really - I'm not rich or anything but I am prepared to get a top-of-the-range smart phone.

OK, so I know this will be really obvious to many people, which is why I ask it!

I know that you use a vacuum cleaner, a broom etc, and you sweep and clean. What I really want are some hints and tips about how to stay on top of things. I am a 25 year old male who is renting a place. I just cannot seem to keep it clean and tidy. Eventually piles of 'junk' (a mixture of needed stuff and unneeded stuff) are lying about, and things just get out of order and clutter happens, no matter what I do and try. I do try - putting things back in their place and stuff, but it just gets worse and worse. Then I think 'I'll clean and tidy it all on Saturday', but Saturday comes along and there are other things that need doing and I have no time. And I am busy in my job a lot or going out doing things in the weekday evenings. So eventually the place also gets dusty and, I have to admit it, a bit gross in places, particularly the bathroom and kitchen...

I see my friends who also have a busy schedule, yet they keep a clean and tidy house. I ask them how and they just say that it's easy, you just tidy up and keep on top of things. But I know that they have been clean and tidy people their whole lives, whereas I have always had a problem with this sort of thing. I think it is in my nature to be messy, and tidiness does not come naturally. People think I am an idiot when I say this, and that I am just lazy. And they never treat me with any seriousness. I am saying that I just cannot keep tidy, even when I try! I think that one problem is that I do not notice mess like other people. I am oblivious to an untidy room which other people would find very messy.

So I was wandering if anyone has any tips/motivational techniques/insights for people like me, or for tidiness in general? Some really useful nuggets of gold about how to improve this situation, like a saying or a good website or a few age old tips. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

I am being sincere by the way. I am not just saying this to try and be funny!

I am overseeing a series of student's workshops, for A Level and GCSE students, around a newly restored church organ. An idea we have is to have the students produce graphic images of what they hear to be included in a graphics score. If we create these images on paper, what software would be suitable for making these pictures digital and then producing a fairly basic animation sequence based on these images, synced over a recording of the organ music track?

I used to be quite badly depressed. It was caused by bad health and not being happy with my environment. That is the simplified description.

Now, I feel a lot better. I am left with this feeling of 'what is the point', which is actually quite hard to put in words, becuase it is a general feeling. But I;ll have a go. Before the depression, the point used to be 'it feels good' or 'you have an obligation' etc. Often now, the next thought goes along the lines of 'yeah, but so what?'. But this is manageable, and it has led me on to philosophy, and opened up another chapter in my life, and a whole load of other clichés.

What I still have though are these vivid dreams that wake me up throughout the night. They are not necessarily bad, but I always end up waking up after them. Before the depression, I used to find it moderately difficult to fall asleep, but when I went out I would sleep throughout the night until the horrible sound of the alarm clock went off. Now, when I fall asleep, I just cannot stay asleep. Its not that I wake up and can't get back to sleep, although this does happen. Its more like this: fall asleep at 1am, wake up at 3am, fall back to sleep, wake up at 6am, fall back asleep, wake up at 7.15am, stay awake until my alarm goes off at 8am. I feel exhausted throughout the day.

Any ideas on how I can stay asleep? This happens all the time. I cannot remember the last time I slept well. It is better than it has been for like 7 years, but it is still not great.

I need to create a CD of organ music for children to listen to prior to taking part in a children's workshop about music organs. If I get a recording of, say, some Bach and some Messiaen etc, put it onto a cd and give it to the teachers to play to the kids, do I have to worry about royalties or whatever with this?

If yes, does anyone know where I can obtain royalty-free recorded organ music!

I already have registered my domain name, and I am designing my own website. I need a personalised email address now. I have been looking on the internet, but being rather new, I do not know what I am doing, but I am in a bit of a rush and do not really have time to research! So, I would really be appreciative if someone could tell me of a good, honest email hosting site. I would need about 5 email addresses, with probably 5-10GB space, preferably with attachment sizes of 50MB. I would also liek to feel assured that spam/malware is being looked after.

I do not know what a mailbox is - is it one mailbox per email address, or one mailbox can have multiple email addresses? Each email address would need a private account - like an individual hotmail account.

I really need to get hold of a set of basic pipes, preferably in the scale of C Major, but I would go for anything. I am looking for something that doesn't involved embrasure or any sort of technique - just something that a child could blow into to produce a note. I know about pitch pipes, but I am looking for something a bit bigger, although if you know of any really good pitch pipes that actually look like pipes then please let me know. I want the instrument to actually look like a pipe because I am putting on music workshops is about the inners of an organ.

Any help you could provide would be really gratefully received.

Does anybody know how you can go to a seance? I am looking particularly for one in London, England, because that is where I live, but I would also be willing to travel to places nearby London.

The reason is that I am involved in a project about seances, and thought it would be interesting to see what one is like. I am a huge sceptic, but I am not looking to go and be a killjoy for everyone - I just want to be involved and observe.

I don't particularly want to buy software unless you think it is a much better idea to do so. I want to use one of these online website creation services, like Webeden, to make a website for a project I am managing.

I have a budget of about £800, but would prefer to spend a lot less if possible so that I can use this part of the budget else where in the project.

I will edit it myself. I am computer literate, although have no idea about HTML. I have been using a CMS system at work for a few years now, and use basic HTML like <br> (please do not mock me if that is not actually HTML...).

I like the idea of editing it myself because it gives me control.

It doesn't need to be 'flashy' at all. It will basically be an informational point - I am not selling anything, do not need a forum, will not have members, or anything else. Just updates regarding the project. including pictures and maybe videos. I do value a clear layout though - a proper website with pages; not one of these endless scrolling blog things.

I already have Facebook and Twitter and integrating these two would be useful, although not essential. I definitely want a website as well as the social networking - the website address will be very useful for a lot of my marketing.

I am thinking of getting a dove of peace with an olive branch in its beak, flying over waves. It has Biblical connotations - Noah released doves from the Ark to see if the waters had receded, and the 2nd or 3rd dove he sent out came back with a olive branch to signify that land had been found. I am not a Christian, but the imagery of calm after a time of difficulty, or peace after war, or happiness after suffering, or enjoying life again after depression. all these things resonate with me.

But the nitty gritty is: will people think it is too much? Like 'a dove of peace, er, OK....' sorta thing. Will I be asked 100 questions about it all the time? Is it a bit girly for a guy? Is it a bit soft?

I am thinking a bit like this one:

I want something with 16MB or more memory. Not a big fan of Apple for the normal reasons people give. Anyone got any alternatives to recommend? Sound quality is what I care about most - way, way more than look/style/other considerations.
