what is a transmission insulator and retainer.?
I'm working on changing my oil pan on my 1988 ford ranger. One of the steps in my Haynes guide says to remove the transmission insulator and retainer. Can someone tell me what those are?

Changing the oil pan, gasket, and oil pump on my 1988 ranger with a 2.3 l engine. New oil pan doesn't have low oil sensor hole or transmission to oil pan bolts. Is this a problem. I just won't have the dummie oil sensor, right. Why no bolt holes for the transmission though?
