Is my mother cheating?
Back in December my mom, crying in a pool of tears, shattered told me that she had "just given up the love of her life". I was completely shocked. She said that this man whom she reconnected with (childhood love) again proposed marriage to her, has tons of money lives in Vegas and promised her the world to her. But she gave him up, as she told me.
She swore to me that she would have nothing to do with him, that she deleted him from her phone...etc blah blah blah.
Fast forward to a month ago and she waltzes into my house to tell me that she's decided to leave my dad, that all her priest friends have advised her to leave him. She asked me if she had my support to which i vehemently said NO.
Then she called off the divorce asking my dad to seek therapy. However, the whole time after calling it off, she schemed and planned the divorce! Suddenly last week, she disappeared with most of what was inside their house, moved into a 2 bed house paying $1100 for rent, (very expensive in this area) she has no solid job, she has odd jobs here and there. She claims she will be able to afford that. On top of the fact that she's volunteering to pay the taxes of hers and my dads house.
How is she affording this? And after 40 years of marriage, her admitting that my dad changed a lot for the better in the last few years WHY ALL OF THE SUDDEN!!??
Is she cheating??

But not horrible for a mom to beat up her kids (with leather belts, etc) or is it considered just as bad?

5 AntwortenMarriage & Divorcevor 1 JahrIs it possible for a surgery screw to come loose and be super painful in the knee?
I had ACL surgery 2 years ago, and now i cannot bear weight on my leg. The knee itself feels fine, it's the top of my tibia where one of the screws is at where i feel horrible pain when i put weight on my leg. It feels like something is locking.
I did nothing for this to happen, it came out of nowhere.
Had an MRI done in Oct that showed screw was slightly out of place, but surgeon said not to worry about it. Went to Urgent Care just now, and the screw that was "slightly out place", that was scary looking on the MRI is completely gone according to the X Ray, no screw to show ANYWHERE!!!! Yet the pain is unbearable, literally! :(
I feel like i'm going mad

2 AntwortenInjuriesvor 2 JahrenShould this be a workers compensation case?
The office is being remodeled, and the construction company hired taped a cloth on the carpet to avoid dust particles. This is area is heavy traffic for the employees.
Our insurance guy placed a yellow caution sign around the cloth.
So my colleague with hot coffee and papers in hand, tripped over a part of that cloth that was not tapped. She fell on her knee and landed on her chest. The coffee mug shattered and cut her, leaving blood all over her clothes and wall. She got a nasty deep rug burn on her elbow, looks like 2nd degree burn.
She went to report it to the insurance guy and his first reaction was a callous "there's a sign - seeee there's a sign"
then "go get a bandaid in the kitchen.
Anyway, latter on he told her, that our company will not be responsible for the accident, because she tripped on the construction company's cloth.
Yet the accident happened in OUR building WHILE she was working. The extent of her injuries were caused by our carpet, not the cloth.
He is blaming the construction company and has told my colleague to go to them, so they can pay for her medical bills.
I think she needs to pursue this further, legally. But do you think she has a legal case??

I was jumping on a trampoline. I was playing dodge ball. At one point i jumped really high, and as i planted my foot, my knee dislocated, from side to side. i felt a feeling of rocks, a very rough, revolting feeling. When i finally landed the knee went back to its place and it was excrutiating burning feeling on the knee. i couldnt move it. all i could yell was ambulance.
about 5 mins on the floor, the burn went away and i was able to move. however when they asked me to walk, i couldnt because the knee gave in.
it started to swell immediately, i had tingles down my leg into my foot.
went to the ER had xrays and ctscan and everything was hunkydory. nothing broken, no sign of dislocation, nothing torn. btw no brusing at all, still swollen one week after the accident. my Ortho doc agress w ER diagnosis
Could it really be that nothing happened after that awful fall?
Not that i want something wrong, but i almost feel like i just imagined the fall. The pain was worse than giving birth, for nothing at all to be wrong really worries me.
1 AntwortInjuriesvor 4 JahrenDead Person tells me he is Alive!?
Brief history:
My OB-GYN doctor died about a year ago from a horrible freak accident. He was very dear to our family and he delivered my youngest daughter. We never saw his body, but went to his funeral and all.
Dream:
Last night i had a very very vivid dream about him. My husband and my daughters and I went to a doctor's office for a checkup - and i saw my OBGYN there - he was an assistant - no longer a doctor. And he saw me and greeted me and hugged us all, my youngest daughter was very happy to see him and my husband was thrilled to see him.
And i said to him " i thought you were dead, you are, because we went to your funeral" and he said "no i am not dead, I never was, I am alive." I asked him to be honest and he said he couldnt' tell me much more, but that he faked his own death to protect himself and that he is now an assistant, because he lost his doctor's license because of his apparent death.
So i said "your children at your vigil, that was all a fake?" and he said yes, I am alive.
WHAT ON EARTH DOES THAT MEAN!??!!?
I would love for this to be real - but i know it's far from it - but could it be??
I normally don't have vivid dreams like this one.
Please help me interpret.

My husband lost his job. He had been diligently paying child support for years now. He has 2 teenagers from his first marriage.
We are civilly married with two kids as well.
However just yesterday we found out that the unemployment office in TX is taking 50% of his unemployment check to give it to his X. leaving us with only $200. Considering he was earning around 4k a month! I am working my butt off trying to keep us afloat while he finds a job, but in the mean time, his X gets more benefits than our family?
The actual divorce decree says, you must inform the courts of your unemployment w/in 7 days of losing your job, to avoid getting any deductions. We did that 6 days after he lost his job. We broke our backs to get that notification w/ the courts and to her. and we still get screwed?
No where in the decree does it say 50% of the unemployment check must go to the X. There's a few divorce decrees / amendments and niether one of them mention this!
Is texas acting illegally?
Yes i understand the children in the first marriage.
But our children are being completely disregarded here.

3 AntwortenUnited Statesvor 8 JahrenIs this wrongful termination?
A good friend of ours got fired yesterday from his job of 19 years. He was in a managerial level.
But the CEO who recently started working there in September, had been hounding him as of then.
Our friend bought a software that was not in accordance to policy, however, before he bought he had all the presidents and vp's sign off authorizing this purchase. So he bought the software. Yet the CEO said it was wrong and and gave our friend a termination warning ltr. HOWEVER, after a few weeks that piece of software was adopted througout the entire company. Our friend's immediate boss was shocked that HR would not withdraw that termination warning from his record. They kept it there.
Well yesterday they finally terminate him for not following protocol. Yet last week he emailed all the headhonchos asking if everything was in accordanc to protocol and they said yes.
He has a family to support - do you think he can file a suit against the company?
He is in the process of talking to a lawyer - but we're trying to help him, figure out if he's got a case in his hands.
Any advice / input?
Thank you

4 AntwortenFamilyvor 8 JahrenStep-father and step daughter relationship, good or bad?
I would like input from daughters that have step dads, what is your relationship like?
Also if you know of step dads, what kind of fathers are they?
My husband has been a step-father (father really) for almost 3 years to my 3 1/2 year old daughter. He is all she's ever known and adores him! Her bio dad hasn't seen her since she was 10 months.
Anyway, my daughter and my hsuband have a wonderful relationship. And i forsee a strong fatherly relationship from his part until she grows into a young woman and beyond!
But my mother keeps saying that all step fathers are evil and are up to no good and he will harm her one day, to be weary of him!!
Because i see their relationship i feel comfortable, and sometimes deem my mom a little paranoid and nuts. Yes she is trying to protect my daughter but, it is obvious to everyone that they love each other and get on really well.
Albeit i always have that extra eye on her with whomeever is around her.
Any input on your relationships with your step dads or step daughters is greatly appreeciated!
Thank you
5 AntwortenFamilyvor 8 JahrenCouples in a 2nd marriage, how confident are you?
Just want input from couples on their 2nd marriage.
i believe that every single person is entitled to a second chance in whatever they failed in the first time.
As a second wife, do you feel like #2 or like #1?
Does your husband make you feel like #1 (even though you're the second wife)?
Do you feel like there's a stigma on you because you are the second wife?
Even if you had nothing to do w/ the breakup of your husband's first marriage to you sometimes feel like "the other woman?"
It seems to me that second marriages are more successful than firsts.
Any and all constructive input on 2nd marriages is appreciated. I'm just surveying.

OKay, this is my second wedding, and I love my husband like crazy. The wedding is for October, so it's a fall wedding.
I'm 32 yrs old, i have two children.
i have searched high and low for this type of dress:
1. Long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve
2. Collar / off the shoulder
3 Tea length
4. White / ivory or champagne / blush
It seems like ALL wedding dresses these days are strapless and they look like they're for 15 year olds...it's annoying.
i want something that will look appropriate for a second weddding, but also for my age.
Please send any websites / links that may have such gowns.
Thanks :)
3 AntwortenWeddingsvor 8 JahrenBirthday question, would you feel like an after-thought?
Today is my birthday and my hubby and i had discussed birthday presents a month ago, so that we would both get each other what they want on time for their day. His birthday is coming up next monday.
Well this morning he tells me he couldn't get me the bottle of perfume I wanted because he didn't have my credit card (granted it is the only card we have and he pays for it, but i carry it).
He said that on our way to dinner tonight, he would take me to the store to buy the perfume.
I got a little upset. Because we discussed presents a month ago and he couldn't find a way to get it w/o me having to go and buy it w/ "my" credit card.
I feel like an after thought.
He has these tendencies, that for most special occasions he gets up in the early morning and drives to the store to buy me flowers and balloons... and i feel awkward.
Should i feel wierd, or is it just his way of being throughtful?

My X was recently court ordered to pay child support.
Problem is he lives in england. And i was just told TX cannot garnish wages from him out there.
If they can't garnish his wages, but doesn't pay on his own accord even after having the decree in his hands, can he be held in contempt w/ the law? Can he be allowed into the US for not paying child support?
Already talking to my lawyer, but i'd like to see if anyone else has some immediate advice / experience perhaps.
Thanks

2 AntwortenFamilyvor 8 JahrenLosing respect for my mother... please read. (For 10 pts)?
I am really scared, I'll be 32 soon. I have always loved and admired my mother. I have always thought the world of her, and hated anyone who didn't treat her right.
Like my brother, he does not respect her, and never has for about 10 years. She's always been very controling of his life.
Anyway, about the last 3 years, since my divorce, since my remarriage and now my two children, she has completely changed with me personally. She has no respect for me as a mother. She hates me working full time, saying i should be a stay at home mother. She cannot understand why we have debt. She is always trying to meddle into my marriage to my husband.
Recently she claimed that because my 3 year old daughter licked her with her tongue, that my husband and I make my girls watch porn, either that or that we have sex in front of them. She claims that because my husband and I hug in public, and sometimes kiss each other (in a conservative way, showing love) that "you must be having sex in front of the girls, why else would she lick me like that??"
I had to sit there and defend my husband and myself. I alerted her to the fact that she has 2 toy poodle dogs who looooove to lick faces. We have 2 toy poodle dogs as well, who also looove to lick faces. But she thinks i'm making it up "the dogs couldn't possibly be teaching her that."
I asked her to go to my house and see for herself. I said "I have nothing to prove to you but if you want go check on us, be my guest". Much to my surprise she now shows up unannounced to see what we are doing. And every single time, my 3 year old takes her to the TV room to show her she is watching the Sound of Music or Wonder Pets. She gets all excited grabs her by the hands and pulls her to show her what she is watching.
She gets angry at me and yells at me for saying something negative about her in front of my daughters. Claiming that i'm showing them not to respect her!! Like the other day i said "you charge me to watch my girls" (i pay 200 a month to watch them). And she will sit there are ask for her check every 2 weeks. She got soooo offended because i said that in front of my girls. She yelled at me!
Yet this entire pornogrraphy / licking matter she said it to me in my face in front of my daughters. Yet she always claims she teaches my daughters to respect me.
She allows my daughters to call her "mom". In any other situation, i wouldn't have minded, but at one point she said she was going to adopt my oldest daughter because i worked full time there was no way i could be a good mother. So i hate my girls calling her "mom" and i have asked her to not endorse that, yet she gets offended and says that they should because they spend 8 hours a day in her care and she deserves for them to call her 'Mom' and i only feel pain for that. Because i love my girls like crazy and i work out of need.. Yes i do loove my job, but i always feel guilty being here, because of my mom's antics.
We do have means for a day care and we have taken them there, on part time basis. That's not the answer, even if i do take them to day care full time, (which i am thinking of doing) that rift with her will be there from now on.
I now understand my brother's fury against her. I cannot treat her like before. I almost don't care for her. And i don't want to feel like that, but she has hurt my family so much.
I don't want to feel this way against her, but i do.
Am i right to feel this way? Or am i going bonkers that i dont' know what i should be feeling anymore?
7 AntwortenFamilyvor 8 JahrenSecond Marriage, what is an appropriate wedding dress?
I am going to be married for the second time. It will be a 2nd marriage for both of us.
He is 45 and i'm 31. We both have children from our previous marriages. The date is set for October, so it will be a fall wedding.
I was wondering what kind of dress would be appropriate for a 2nd marriage?
I don't want a ballroom gown or something poofy. That seems like it for young girls or 1st marriages.
I'd like something more discreet, elegant, yet appropriate for my age and circumstance of it being a 2nd marriage.
This marriage means the world to me. More than my 1st one ever did. So while most would put down a 2nd marriage. Please don't. You don't know the facts.
Just want to know what wedding dress would be most appropriate for my circumstances.
I am 5'8 and am 160lbs, size 12. 34b and I am toned and atheltic.
PS. we are not planning a huge reception afterwards. Just a small intimate meal w/ close family.
