Is this what we should call Obama's blunder?
Remember Nixon's Watergate and Bill Clinton's Monicagate?
Well, do we now have Obama's Gatesogate?
4 AntwortenOther - Politics & Governmentvor 1 JahrzehntHave you followed FOX and MSNBC coverage of Obama's comments on the Gates arrest?
To gain as fair and balanced accounting of current events as possible, I switch around through the various news providers every day.
Today at noon MSNBC had on their web page one article on the topic: R. Gibbs' defending Barack Obama's comment about the Cambridge police department acting stupidly.
FOX, at the same time ran the entire police report, including the report of the latino officer also present, statements from witnesses, analyses of the situation by both left and right journalists, Gibbs statement of defense.
I'd like to know what others have seen/heard on the topic today, and how the media has been reporting it. I believe Barack Obama's comment on Gate's arrest reveals a great deal about who B.O. really is.
What say you?
3 AntwortenGovernmentvor 1 JahrzehntShould healthcare reform be done right or done quickly?
Just this week the budget office said the cost of Obama's health plan will cost much, much more than Obama predicted. Still, he and his comrades are working feverishly to rush this so-called health reform through.
I say that the longer it takes, the more "the people" will discover the flaws and will oppose it. Even Obama knows it's grossly flawed, or he wouldn't be working so hard to get it passed through.
This is not rocket science. What do you say? Should it be done right, or should it be done quickly?
13 AntwortenPoliticsvor 1 JahrzehntIs tomorrow the day Congress changes life in the US forever?
Tomorrow the US Congress votes on bill HR 2454. I am extremely worried this Bill will pass because. . .
It will raise your household electricity rates by 90 percent, gasoline by 74 percent, residential natural gas prices by 55 percent by 2035 (after adjusting for inflation), and will cut U.S. employment levels by 965,000 jobs by reducing economic output by $136 billion per year.
If what Congress plans to do tomorrow doesn't terrify you, should it?
This translates to a $2,000 to $3,000 increase in energy costs per American household per year over the next few years. The poor will again be called upon to carry a larger proportion of the burden.
It sets the stage to effectively kill the coal industry as it will be taxed so heavily, it will not be able to sustain itself.
If enacted, H.R. 2454 will be the largest tax increase in the history of the world. This cap-and-tax bill is simply a way to transfer wealth from consumers to big businesses.
Should we roll over and let Congress impose environmental taxes that will cripple the poor and middle class, at a time when our economy is more important than the environment?
OR, should we frantically call and write our Congressmen today, to tell him/her how terrifying this Bill is, and that they should vote NO?
12 AntwortenGovernmentvor 1 JahrzehntWho is abiding by established presidential protocol? Bush or Obama?
This past week Obama criticized the Bush administration 28 times in his speech that preceeded Cheney's. And that was after Obama said it was time to get along. On the other hand, Bush is quietly doing what ex-presidents are supposed to do - sit back and let the current president make or break his own legacy.
Why does Obama continue to bash Bush? I think it's extremely classless of Obama to do that, especially because Bush is doing what HE is supposed to do, and that's remain silent. But, I think Obama continues to be mean to Bush so he can leave the door open to blame Bush for Obama failures long after the prior administration should be a viable excuse for failure.
I expect to hear some babbling attacks, but I would really like to hear some good valid defense for Obama, and reasons why it's OK for Obama to toss out the gentlemanly protocol established for the Office of the US President.

A local company is threatening to sue or go to the local news media to make us look bad because we're buying a better product out-of-state.

11 AntwortenLaw & Ethicsvor 1 JahrzehntDo you believe our freedom of speech is in jeopardy?
Our Founding Fathers knew that once our freedom of speech fell, all our other rights would fall like dominoes. They wrote: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech...."
Peter Kirsanow, National Review Online, believes our attention given to the Fairness Doctrine proposed by some in congress is urgent: "Imposition of some form of the Fairness Doctrine likely will be one of the Democrats' agenda items for the first 100 days of the new administration."
Newsmax: "You can burn the flag, put four-letter-word bumper stickers on your car, commit lewd acts on-stage, play profane rap music loudly on your car radio, produce, rent and distribute the most disgusting filth in broad daylight and on the Internet in plain view of minors and even use taxpayer dollars to depict Jesus suspended in bodily waste."
"But when it comes to shutting down conservative thoughts and opinions, now that they have grabbed the reins of power, liberals are making control over the content of speech a top priority!"
If you are liberal, conservative, Democrat or Republican, you should be concerned about preserving our right to freedom of speech, because that is the first, most basic right awarded us by our Founding Fathers to preserve all our other freedom.
16 AntwortenGovernmentvor 1 JahrzehntDo you know about this qualification to be president?
OK, calm down. I know that quite a few people still get fired up about the Obama "legal or not legal" issue. This isn't one of those questions.
Did you know that, if Obama had been born outside the US, it wouldn't be enough for his mom to have been a US citizen? His father needed to be either a US citizen or a US national that had lived at least one year in the US. BO the first (Obama's dad) was neither. But, with McCain's citizen parents, he could have been born anywhere, even Iran.
The question: does anyone know what the requirement is to go to school in Indonesia? I know that Indonesia is much more strict about non-citizen education than we are, but was BOII eligible for school in Indonesia simply because of his stepfather?
I'm not arguing the point that BOII is not eligible to be president, I just hope somebody can really clarify this curiosity question.
4 AntwortenGovernmentvor 1 JahrzehntAsking a question on welfare to a YA regular?
Someone whose name starts with "J" just commented that 66% of the people on welfare are whites. Well, considering that hispanics only make up 5% on welfare. That leaves 29% of other groups, which would have to be mostly comprised of blacks.
Considering that blacks only make up 13 - 14% of the US population, that tells me that blacks must have a higher ratio on welfare. Do you agree with this? I'm not too good at math, but just looking at the figures "J _ _ .." presented, this does look a little lopsided, doesn't it?
How about you Miss J? You are the one with all the statistics, right?
1 AntwortOther - Politics & Governmentvor 1 JahrzehntFor women only, how do you feel about this?
My elderly great grandmother shocked me yesterday, when she should have been elated and celebrating. She told me that she is ashamed of our generation of women.
She said she fought hard all her life to be accepted and respected, and she wanted me to remember that the black man was given the right to vote 50 years before any woman was. Grandma said that she was very joyous in the 1970s when women gained so very much ground, and that women joined together demanding equality.
Now, she says she has watched us women stand next to both white and black MALE celebrities, cheering while they insulted, abused and called for the demise and even death of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.
Grandma actually cried, and wagged her finger at me while she told me she was ashamed of all my generation's women. She said she was very proud of both Mrs. Clinton and Mrs. Palin, that they both are very smart and brave, and deserve the respect of all women, and we should stand up against any man who says otherwise.
My grandma made me ashamed, and I think that from now on I will be a woman first, then a member of my race second. We should be proud, respect ourselves and all other women who step forward and take a stand, as well as those who shine through as leaders.
Do you agree, and are you willing to take that stand as well? For all the women who have fought hard for equality?
2 AntwortenLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendervor 1 JahrzehntCan we talk about Obama's & Biden's very small charitable contributions again?
Some of you responded before that it's OK for BO and JB to give very tiny amounts to charity because the liberal mindset is to charge higher taxes to cover charity, and let the government dole out money to charities.
Does anyone besides me believe it's ridiculous to ask the government to oversee charitable contributions, when the government botches most everything it gets its hands on? If we depend on our government to dole out our charitable contributions, THEY will pick our causes for us, and THEY will decide how much we will contribute. Why is that acceptable?
Do you agree that if we the people make our own contributions to charities of our choice, that the recipient charities will act more responsibly, to draw in contributions?
Considering BO's platform of redistribution, how can his itsy bitsy personal contribution take care of his moral obligation? And do we even have to get into his poverty-stricken family that he does nothing for?
15 AntwortenPoliticsvor 1 JahrzehntWhy do Obama and Biden contribute such small amounts to charity?
B Obama only contributes an average of 5% to charity, J Biden only contributed an average of $369 per year over the last 10 years. That's less than 1%. J McCain contributed 26% last year.
Does it make sense to you that Obama (Robin Hood) wants you to give more of your money to help the poor, but he wants to hang on to his?
The Obama/Biden greediness really doesn't fit the image they're trying to sell, does it?
4 AntwortenOther - Politics & Governmentvor 1 JahrzehntCan we put this Obama birth certificate to rest?
You can be born abroad, and be US Pres if, both parents are US citizens, or if one is citizen and the other is a US national who lived in the US for at least one year. Obama's father was neither.
Obama's Kenyan family signed affidavits that he was born in Kenya. Obama's submitted certificate is not legitimate (don't believe Factcheck, they are too liberal - check their credentials).
Obama also will not release his college or med records. Why? Probably indicate his place of birth.
Why should we care? If he's illegal he still might be a good Pres., but we should care because, if he's hiding his Kenyan birth, then he is a deceitful liar. "It's always in the coverup." Have you ever seen such a secretive Pres candidate? Why?
Now, you yawners out there who want this to go away, can you come up with some other PROOF in his favor? Something more than Factcheck?
8 AntwortenGovernmentvor 1 JahrzehntWhat will happen with Obama's birth issue at the Supreme Court?
Til yesterday I thought this was a joke or hoax. But today I read as much as I could on the subject, and this is for real. Please see Michael Savage.com. I think that Judge Surrick dismissing because we "can't question the constitution on . . candidates legitimacy" is really scary. I mean, what could be more important than qualification for the most important job in the world? I'm sure this judge is liberal, and that scares me. What kind of justice will we lose next? What do you think the Supreme Court will do with this if it gets that far?
7 AntwortenPoliticsvor 1 JahrzehntWhat do you really think Joe Biden was trying to warn us about?
This is a serious question - I'm not trying to invoke incendiary discussion. I ask because two Muslim women told me yesterday that some Muslims believe Barack Obama abandoned Islam, simply because his father was Muslim, and Obama chose not to remain in the Muslim faith. Obama was not raised by his father, but these women tell me that doesn't matter. Some radicals believe a person who abandons Islam is worse than Christian, and must die. This makes me worry that we will be subject to these radicals, more than if McCain wins, simply because they might attack us severely to punish Obama. They said this is what Joe Biden is warning us of. What do you think?
