There's a chance I might be adopting a blind dog. She's a 6 year old Yorkie. The family I'm talking to says she does great with kids and other dogs. They'll give me the advice I need but it's still going to be challenging because she's coming into a new environment. I have never had/fostered a handicapped dog before. I was wondering how blind dogs normally cope? All of the info I'm reading says they can manage just fine, they just need extra guidance. This might sounds crazy but I was wondering could they still go to the dog park and play? I would love to take her out and still be socialized, maybe I just have to keep her on the leash while there...but that might get everyone tangled haha. How about potty training? I'm just looking for some advice as I really want to take her in but I'm trying to be as knowledgeable as I can. Thanks

-FET (femae engagement teams) are still not promoting equality because there is segregation.

-In countries where women are allowed in combat, their standards have to be lowered starting with the physical. Standards should never be lowered in war time. FET teams should be required to hold their own weight at ALL times and never have men assist them if they're stuck in a rut due to incapability of the team.

-In history there are some notable women who were combat warriors. They represent the fact that a blanket statement of "women incapable for combat" isn't true. However it shows that women in combat are still the minority and it doesn't hit on any impressionable FET that were able to solely fight and win wars.

-Men look at women as mother, sister and daughter figures. Countries allowing women in combat (separate or not), men still have to assist them and there's more distress. It has not worked.

My point is I don't believe there should even be segregated FET because it's still not equality and when they are stuck, men have to help them. Strange question....do you have a mate, partner, significant other, husband/wife, gf/bf, etc? IF, this is a hypothetical IF....you could have a mate of either gender w/o the fear of being called homosexual, would you? What is it that actually draws you to the opposite race? If you're the kind of man who likes hardcore, guns, cars etc and you were compatible with a man rather than woman, what would you do? Be honest-it's just the Internet.

I ask because I see many ppl down talk the opposite race, yet their s/o is the opposite gender. Sometimes they bring up good points. If you had to base your relationship off more than the physical, would you choose male or female? Do you think more people would choose to be with their own gender based on some general traits about that gender?

I would. I'm more of a nurturer and caring person. If there wasn't a man who was compatible with that, and a woman was, I'd be with her. Of course he wouldn't have to give up his manliness, but if he was just not compatible with me and no other man was, I would go with the woman if I loved her. I'm in the process of joining the Air Force. I just sucessfully completed the MEPS process-picking a job, physical, etc. People are always telling me to call it the Chair Force because it's not physically demanding. They laugh when I call it the Air Force...cause that's what it's called.

Anyhow, what was your experience with it? I know basic is standard regardless of MOS and tech school depends on the MOS. Is there anything that you enjoyed about either? Hated? Something I should look out for? What is basic and tech school generally like when it comes to responsibilities, living arrangements and privileges, if any?

I have a strange question that I can't find an answer to. I have a chihuahua mix who's almost 8 months old. Overall, he's a great pup. Energetic, healthy, etc. He has been a hassle to potty train, but we are working on it. I have him on a "morning, afternoon, night" schedule for his eating and drinking. He's getting better at not peeing and pooping in the apartment. He's even starting to wait until he sees me coming with the leash to take him outside to pee. BUT, some times, when I come to him with the leash and say "let's go pee", he'll start peeing right there by the door! I say "NO, PEE OUTSIDE" and point to the door and immediately lead him outside. He then pees outside.

I don't understand. He rarely pees in the house since I have him on a schedule and take him outside regularly....and every time he peed inside I would tell him "no", then immediately take him outside. Does anyone know why he would start peeing when I come to him? I come to him, all is well, the atmosphere is calm, I'm talking to him nicely while I put the leash on and giving him belly rubs (he's a tad sensitive, so I have to do a little extra) but he pees! This is only sometimes, not all the time, so I don't get it. He's the type that pees and rolls over when excited, nervous, scared, etc. I don't know why he would start peeing when he clearly isn't in trouble, and I'm not mad at him.

15 minutes ago, my chihuahua mix puppy hurt his paw. My other dog and him were running after each other, and he ran under my legs where I was standing and cleaning, and I tripped over him.

I am going to take him to the clinic. He has an appointment in an hour, and I'm just trying to keep him stable until then. He's fine as long as the tip of the paw isn't touched. It has swollen a little, and his paw is slightly bent outwards. It's not completely bent outwards, but you can notice it.

When the accident first occured, and in the minutes after, his whole paw was a no touch area. Now, I can bend his paw all the way out and he doesn't flinch. It's just the noticeable slant and the tips of his paw that seem to be hurting.

I have become all paranoid, but nothing has significantly changed. Can dogs paws become paralyzed? I tried searching it, but had no luck. He still holds his paw up to his shoulder, but is trying to stretch it, and isn't wimpering when he does so.

Of course, there has been worse videos (like Rhiannas S&M video). However, I highly doubt that girls run the world like Beyonces video shows. To me, the video shows girls slutting around on men and using wild animals who have no conception of what's going on as a tool for power. The women act as if they're animals being let free. Maybe I'm wrong?

I'm 21, and most of my friends/aqqaintences are in the 20-25 age group. It is a fair mixture of males and females. Most are married with kids, or just married (as am I). The ones who aren't married are in college, living in the dorms. About 2 or 3 of these people are single, living on their own and going to school.

Most of these people's parents (including mine) have always stated that if in trouble in life, the girls can come back home and start over, but the boys must fend for themselves. Of course the parents will help the sons if needed, but once the boys are out, they have to stay out. They claim it will make them a man.

What do you think about that? Is that how your parents are with you, or you with your kids? I understand it's a parenting question, but it's also a gender question. Aside from the personal rules of the parents, do you think this is a fair decision? My parents stated the same thing, and want me to come home for however long once my husband deploys for a year. I'm going to go home, but not for the entire time, as they already know. I still want to learn how to be independent, especially with a situation like deployment. My parents said that any of us are welcome home if we needed help in life, but they would be more strict with my brothers than myself, because they're males and I'm a female.

I think that it shouldn't matter the gender. I understand that it's not good for adult children to rely on their parents for the rest of their lives. Still, why is it a bigger deal in letting the sons come home if they needed help versus the daughters?

I recently saw and ad on Yahoo! about the Sketchers Shape Ups shoes are now being made for little girls. The major backlash was that the Shape Up shoes don't work. Studies were showing that the shoes don't make you burn any more calories by "toning your legs". Okay, I got that. I'm not debating that point.

However, some of the comments were really stupid, in my opinion. People were saying that Shape Ups for girls is pressuring them to look lean and fit, make them grow up too fast. One comment said "what's next-a push up bra?"

Seriously? Now, IF the shoes did work, I don't see any problem. It's like some parents can't find a middle ground. They let their kids stuff their face and guts with junk food. Then, they get mad when other kids bully them in school, or when they get overweight and their child now has expensive medical bills.

They also get mad when shoes are being made that are supposed to help with exercise-i.e the Shape Ups.

I don't have kids. However, you don't need to have kids to realize that childhood obesity is a problem in the United States.

I see these shoes as something that's pretty and fun and appealing to young girls fashion taste. It shows them that you can still look good while exercising. It's a shame that many parents don't regulate their childrens food intake and diet, and get mad when others try to get kids out there and active. They commented on there not being a boy type of Shape Ups. Many of Sketchers shoes are worn by women. I have known males who say that Sketchers are ugly, and look like girl shoes. But, do you really think a man is going to get Sketchers over Nike? Many of Nike commercials targets men. Why start bashing Sketchers?

I'm a black female. Not your stereotypical ghetto female at all. However, people think that I try to "act white" and "look white". Even my husband says that. In no way, shape or form would I ever try to impersonate a white girl. Never. I am happy the way I am, and have never been discriminated against because of my skin color.

Then comes the stereotypical light skinned black female jigs. I have had people say that light skinned black girls are just spoiled, prissy, materialistic white girls in disguise. Yesterday my friend came over, and she's light skinned. My husband asked me if I had sex with her (he's at training). I said "no, why?" He said because we are both light skinned and pretty. I said "so, every pretty light skinned girl is supposed to have sex with each other?" He said "yea". I said "**** off".

Oh, don't get me started on the countless white dudes who have tried to hit on me. Even white dudes from my husbands own company have told him that. Ugh.

So, do you view us like that? How do men view light skinned black girls? How do women view light skinned black girls? I know this is probably a vain question, but I know every gender has their different view points.

In my opinion, I believe that some dogs and their owners get the short end of the stick sometimes. I know that there are many dog bites that are random, and the dog is aggressive. However, I think it as unfair for those dogs who are provoked to be given the same treatment as a random, unprovoked dog attack.

I think that each case should be on a "it depends" situation. There are many nice, loving dogs who attack or bite when they feel threatened. I think every dog has the capability to attack. Is it their fault? No.

I feel as the ones who were bit should be responsible. That means parents should be responsible for their kids. If your kids are around animals, you should take extra caution. People humanize animals too much. What is seen as "cute and hyper" by us can be seen as "fast and hurtful" to a dog. They just don't have the understanding that small kids don't normally try to hurt them on purpose. That includes neighborhood teens who taunt and mock dogs, and adults who simply are oblivious to a dogs nature.

Therefore, if a dog attacks or bites while provoked, it's not the dogs fault. Humans fight and hit when they feel attacked. Often it's considered as self defense or dismissible . Why not the same for dogs?

If you could spend a day (or whatever amount of time you prefer) living as the opposite gender, would you? This includes dealing with all of the roles, stereotypes, etc that the opposite gender usually faces. Women, would you play as a man? Men, would you play as a woman?

When I say this would come with full responsibilities, I mean everything. Men playing as women would have a chance to experience childbirth. Women would have a chance to experience how men feel when they are "supposed" to be head of the household, etc. I know this is a ludicrous idea, but it's something to think about. What I'm really trying to do is convince people to think before they speak. Even if we won't be able to literally carry out this idea, it's always best to try to put ourselves in the other sides position. Try to see their point of view before we assume ours is right.

I would. I think it would be interesting to explore the opposite gender. I would be playing as a man. I believe I would learn a lot. In fact, I think many people would learn a lot and benefit by living as the opposite gender. Perhaps we would be more cautious about generalizing.

i need advice on how to boost a dogs self esteem. i started volunteering at the shelter, where of course are abused and abandoned dogs. i also just want to know (beside the regular T.L.C.) how to boost a dogs confidence and self esteem for my own pups. i want to be able to tell when they are down and sad. it's kind of hard with one of my pups because he's a hound mix. he has that naturally sad looking face lol.

i know you can tell by body language too. can anyone be more specific, if you know?

i just want the dogs i work for and my pups to know their special worth. i've never worked with abused animals before. my pups aren't abused, nor will they be.

she was given a clean bill of health. went to the vet the other week. she has normal, small, firm poop. we feed the Natural Balance dog food. but she has always had this serious, serious gas. the bad part is that it lingers in the air. ****, she just did it again. she does this basically every other day. we've had her since this past January.

i've noticed many small dog owners complain about how their small dogs can clear a whole house with their flatulence. pugs, french bulldogs, boston terriers, you name it. she's a 6 month, 20 pound Belgian Malinios Dog mix. i've thought about taking her in again to see if she has colon issues. they checked her thoroughly and said she's fine the other week.

i don't know. i'm a big and small dog owner (i also have a 80 pound greyhound mix) and i've NEVER smelled or heard him fart. i'm sure he does, but i don't know.

there's a big, white dog that lives across the street from us. (don't know the breed. all i know is the dog is over 70 pounds. looks more of 100 pounds).

this dog is always tied up outside. they have no fence, for some unknown reason. that itself irks me because they live in a townhouse, and are capable of getting a fence. i live in a second floor apartment with 2 dogs (one big, one small) and i don't leave them on the balcony all day long. if i'm able to take care of my dogs, why can't they take care of their one dog?

anyways, it's against post policies to have dog tied up outside. yet, people do anyways.

the actual problem is that the dog has gotten loose before because he's always tied up outside. normally i would help ask people if they wanted help retrieving their dog. i didn't that time because i was talking to my neighbor outside, and she had her little baby. i didn't know how the dog would act around little babies.

this dog is on a loose stake to where he can roam from his yard almost onto the sidewalk. theres big bushes that cover the side of the yard that faces the street/sidewalk. the dog is always behind those, then dashes out when he sees people/dogs/cars going by. i was walking my youngest pup (20 pounds belgian malinois mix) on the sidewalk, unaware that the dog was behind the bushes. he jumped out and started barking. scared me and my pup so bad that she let out a huge, angry growl and tried charging at him. i didn't know he could go that far. i didn't even know he was outside because i didn't see him. then i noticed he was always behind the bushes, and put two and two together.

i don't normally snitch people out. but this dog is tied up. i don't know if there's food and water because i'm not going into their yard. there's no shelter.

what would you do? call the MP'S (military police) or leave it be? i don't want anyone to get hurt, or the dog to get loose again. please don't mention talking to the owners. i witnessed one neighbor calmly do that, and the owners have bad attitudes. i have a short temper for bullshit, and don't want to end up in a fight and land in jail.

hey everyone! i just wanted to post this question asking for help. have any of you experienced bad weather? i know you all may have heard of the tsunami and earthquake in Japan that happened last night. very, very tragic. i live in the Hawaiian Islands, and we have a tsunami watch too. some of the beaches are just flooded for now. no one knows how much worse it will get, since the first waves aren't always the worst.

but i need to know what to do for my dogs in case i have to evacuate. some towns and cities already did on my island. plus there was an earthquake on one of the other islands. that wasn't too bad cause it's kinda a daily thing over there. i have their medical records, i.d. collars and dog first aid kit. i have a 15 pound bag of unopened dog food that i keep in case of emergency. we have water, blankets and a few toys and bones for them. is there anything else i may need? in case i have to take them to the shelter, i would like to know. any help is appreciated. i've never been through this with animals. i just want to be prepared if worst comes to worst, you know?
