engine died while driving down the road. pulled over tried to start engine, would barely turn over. 1996 Isuzu?
I was driving down the highway, when I noticed the truck (1996 Isuzu Hombre w/4-cylinder engine & 5-speed standard tranny) started to sputter and die. mashed down on the gas pedal, no luck. I let it coast along, then popped the clutch to get it to restart, no luck. I coasted to a stop along the side of the road, let it sit a while, tried to start it- all I got was an engine barely turning over, low gauges, an occasional backfire. Dead fuel pump, clogged lines, warped heads, or what? Engine has 227K miles on it, and the cost will determine whether or not I retire the truck & get another one. Any ideas?
