I know that Qiyas, in Sunni Islam, is analytical reasoning and that 'Aql, in Shi'a Islam, is rational judgement and that both are sources of Islamic law. However, I am unsure as to the difference between the two concepts. If you could provide concrete examples as well, that would be very helpful! Thanks!

I am drawing a blank and I need another way to say 'lack of need' in one word to fit in this sentence "Hallelujah allowed the Amerindians to visibly demonstrate their 'lack of need' for the Christian religion and the white missionaries"

I just find saying 'lack of need' awkward and I need another way to say it.

This is a theoretical question. Therefore the exact same harm would come to the innocent in either situation. I just want to know which crime you think is more abhorrent.

I tend to munch while I study so I need something that I can eat a lot of without gaining weight... like grapes, but cheaper and with less sugar. I would chew gum, but it makes me feel sick sometimes.

Hi! I am thinking about moving to Seattle, because I love the rain. However I live in Virginia right now and every time it rains the worms are washed out of their holes and they cover the sidewalk. Did the Christian King Negus convert to Islam? I know that he protected the Muslim who sought refuge in his kingdom, but did he actually convert to Islam. I remember a story in which Negus, at least I think it was Negus, was being asked by his people if he still shared their faith. He wrote out a note and put it over my heart and said something like I believe what is here, putting his hand over his heart and the note, and they were appeased. Does that mean he converted?

How long does it usually take you to read 30 pages? For school? For fun?

I am in college and there is a guy who really likes me and lives in my hometown. I have told him repeatedly that we are just friends, but I know that he hasn't really listened. He just texted me to say Happy Valentines Day. I don't want to be rude and not respond, but I also don't want to give him the wrong idea.

(also there is another guy who texts me all the time and I know he also likes me, but again, I don't feel that way about him. I haven't been responding which I know is rude, but I don't know any other way to make him stop. Any suggestions or should I just never respond. I feel so bad! but I don't want to lead him on)

I'm looking for some new books to read and I thought this would be a good way to find new books that I wouldn't be able to easily find on my own.

I like Elizabeth Peters mysteries and political thrillers. I need more authors (preferably those who write series using the same characters again and again)

I like books by Elizabeth Peters and Vince Flynn (I know, it seems like a big difference) along with "literature". I am looking for books along the lines of the authors I mentioned, but if you want to recommend good literature (no classics though because I'm pretty sure I've heard of most of them), be my guest. Please don't recommend the Twilight series; I know it exists and am planning to read it some day to find out what all the fuss is about, but I don't need to be reminded of it.

I think it takes me too long to read for my classes (admittedly I get distracted while reading and resort to facebook and the like) and I was wondering what other people think is a good amount of time to read 50 pages for a college class. To give you an idea of what type of material I am talking about earlier I was reading Theories of Primitive Religion by E.E. Evans-Pritchard, however I will not tell you how long it took me because it is slightly embarrassing.

I keep getting loads of spam in my school e-mail box (the school uses g-mail not yahoo... so this might be in the wrong category). Anyway I know the spam originates from my history class' e-mail list (professors and TA's can send out class e-mails using something my school calls toolkit Toolkit). I am sick of having to delete spam every time I open my e-mail. One day can generate up to 60 e-mails. If anyone has any suggestion I would really appreciate them.

I had a question removed and I can't figure out why. I only asked if anyone knew when the 2nd season of Torchwood and the 4th season of Doctor Who is coming out on Blu-ray. If anyone knows why this question was removed please tell me.

I have a final on Friday and there are over 200 slides I have to memorize. It is slow going and I would like to find a way to speed up the process, especially since I have another final to study for on Saturday. I have organized my flash cards in this way

The picture is on the other side. On the exam we have to write the name, date range, place, and artist if it is known. We also have to write a short paragraph on the work. I have all of my flashcards loaded into the flash card machine and am studying through that website.
