Our living room currently has a sliding patio door leading out to the backyard. We never use this door, as doing so drags in too much grass/dirt/etc onto the carpet.

I want to replace the sliding door with a window of the same width, but installed at "sofa height" to increase the wall space in that room. The room is long and somewhat narrow, with the door being at the shortest length of wall.

My husband want to replace the slider with French doors. We both want whatever will increase the value of the home. Any suggestions?
