Here is why I ask:

I understand, accidents happen, and as a business owner, I agree with the fundamental concepts of capitalism. Service for profit.

However, rather than plugging the leak, which would not take long (I worked the Gulf Rigs for a good while, and am familiar with the procedure), BP is taking the time to construct a dome to place over the leak, so that they can siphon the oil to a tanker, thus preserving their profit margin on the well, rather than minimizing the damage to the environment and the country as a whole.

This is most assuredly not the capitalism that I know and love, it is more of a corporate mindset that places profit margins above safety and the moral obligation to not destroy an entire ocean to get a few more barrels of oil out of a hole that you could have plugged, and replaced.

Personally I will never, not once, buy anything from BP again. I have known some great individuals employed by BP, from the Gulf Rig construction crews to the local managers at the many BP gas stations across the country. This does in no way imply that they themselves are the culprits, but their employer is.

So, do you think we should organize a nationwide boycott of a company that places more priority on saving its oil well than the entire gulf?
