In a country that has some of the greatest universities and scientific advancements, why does it appear that the general public does not have an accurate understanding of scientific literacy or basic scientific fundamentals?

Just looking for what people believe the factors are.

The god in Genesis was called "Elohim". In Hebrew we have seen different translations as this is translated to "gods". There have been questions about this as it is the plural form. Isn't possible that in its early form Judaism was also polytheistic, with Yahweh as a the storm/sky god? This is supported by the idea that in the original text the snake was not mentioned to be Satan and would have possibly represented the Sumerian creation god that the Judaic God(s?) were attempting to establish dominance over. Some of the current archaeology/geology is going in this direction and I am interested in your thoughts.

I am honestly just wondering at the number of people who believe this. Just a personal experiment.

Why do you not believe in the other gods as well? Odin came back from the dead, so did Horus. Why are all of the thousands of writings and books of past wrong?

Someone told me in an answer that my view on death would change was I was close to it (fear of god,blah blah blah). Although I am certain my view will not change. I was just wondering what your view of death is? Do you believe in an afterlife? How does your view of death effect the way you live your life?

I definitely have an opinion, but I would like to know yours.

I was just wondering about your views of modesty. I understand the importance of it for women in trying to reverse their objectification. This I understand. I was just wondering though how you define modesty? Is it just covering up a certain way or does it extend to color, fabric and facial appearance? I really am asking for my own benefit, since I believe my views of modesty may be different and want to look to your cultural belief rather than inserting my own.

I just rescued a newfoundland mix puppy, he is wonderful (and big =P). I would like to get started to eventually train him in water rescue, but I really want to take care of him according to his breed. I was wondering if there is any knowledge of certain books or training sites that have proven helpful with newfoundlands. He definitely loves water and I would like to start his actual water training by spring (which would give me enough time to put him through basic/intermediate training first).
