I'm doing a book report on The Catcher in the Rye, and I need two themes. I already have "As we get older, our innocence is inevitably lost," and I was going to write "Life goes on, and we cannot stop it" as the next, but I felt that they were too closely related. Can anyone think of any others?

The five Jones family members and their five monkeys (each family member owned one monkey) were hiking when they encountered a river to cross. They rented a boat that could hold 3 living things (people or monkeys). Unfortunately, the monkeys were temperamental. Each could only go only with its owner and couldn't be with another person, not even momentarily, unless its owner was present. However, monkeys could go with other monkeys. It would have been impossible, except that one monkey had been trained to operate a boat. No other monkeys could. How was the crossing arranged?

What would happen if two long-lost twins were put into an environment where they weren't officially introduced (ie, school, work, hobby--like a cooking class or lacrosse lessons)? Would they be drawn to each other, or not pay the other any attention? (I'm talking fraternal twins, not identical twins whom everyone would notice their similarities.) Would age or gender have an effect? Has there been any study on this? What thoughts would be going through each twin's mind?

I know that it's just a mistranslation, especially because the word 'homosexual' didn't even exist until 1869. I have heard some explanations about what it's really talking about, but I'm curious as to what the literal translation is? I'm a Catholic, but I don't know if I can support a religion that's against something as natural as homosexuality.
