  • pineapple and chili sauce?

    hiya

i got two pineapples and i want to make a sauce with them as they are going ripe fast. a while ago i made a roasted pineapple and chili sauce, i just added a bit of salt mostly to preserve the sauce, i still have it and its lovely but a tad too sweet.

i was wondering about what spices i could add so it overpowers the sweetness of the pineapple without losing the flavour. i could experiment but i hate wasting food, so i would love some tips from anyone that got good results making a spicy not so sweet pineapple sauce :)

    cheers !!

  • swiss chard - red stems variety - how to cook it?

    hiya

i got some fresh from the ground swiss chard a few weeks ago. i decided to use it to make a 'feijoada' with it, red beans, pork and usually any green cabbage, but i used the chard instead. this is a dish that has to cook for 2 or 3 hours, adding the raw cabbage the last hour or so. the result was a very bitter and strange taste, not really awful, but not pleasant.

today my friend gave me more of the same chard, i didnt have the heart to tell him i didnt enjoy it [maybe i cooked it wrong] so i got 3 more lbs of it, and i dont know how to cook it.

i know there's plenty of recipes i can search on the net, everyone as a different taste. i suspect i overcooked the chard the 1st time round, so if anyone care to give me some hints how to use this colorful veg to get a nice tasty dish, would be wonderful.

    thanks in advance

  • why cars are not speed limited?

in most european countries the maximum speed limit is 120kph [70 mph in britain]

why aren't cars limited to that speed ?

i could be wrong but it seems to me that many fatal accidents are caused by high speed driving.

i have a 1.2 car that can do 190 kph - tested on a track, which is an insane speed for the model of the car, its all plastic build, and an accident at that speed would certainly kill the driver

so if the law doesn't allow you to drive over 120 kph, why does the car ? shouldn't the car makers be forced to cap the cars' speed ? i searched my mind for a reason and couldn't find any, so hopefully will get a few good answers here.

    cheers :)

  • dry fried onions - how to cook 'em?

Hiya all, im trying to make dry fried onions to look and taste the way we get them in hot dog street vendors like in new york. looking the net i can see many recipes, and tried a few, getting my onions to be a bit mushy and not so crispy though tasting good. I know i could just buy them but i would like to be able to cook them myself.

Any ideas how to make them dry and crispy with that lovely golden brown color?

    Thank you all :)

  • in-car cameras recording issue?

im looking to buy a in-car camera, i found a few [cant post links due to commercial nature] around 50 pounds that look decent enough, but i got a bit confused as all say: 'Repeat storage by section: 2/5/15 minutes', i cant really grasp the concept, does this mean that the device will only store a still image every so often, or does it actually record in real time 25 or 30 fps ? thanks

  • Is the frequency of earthquakes increasing ?

It seems to me that lately there's been more earthquakes than lets say 5 years ago. Does anyone have this same feeling ? or know where to find this kind of data in an 'easy read' form ? I'm really curious if there's more people thinking the same

    Thank you in advance

  • food, what is good or bad ?

i eat meat, fish, vegetables, fruit ...

im starting to get a bit annoyed about some reports complaining that the chickens dont have a proper life, same with cows pigs and fish farms ... they are raised to be killed and eaten.

are these people going to complain about the way we treat the apple trees [i declared my love to a girl carving our names and a heart sape in a apple tree once], the corn fields, the strawberries and blue berries

if a chicken is so important, whats the difference from a city pigeon, the ones city councils are trying to mass kill 'cos they damage towns just by crapping, which is kind of a natural thing to do ...

who cames 1st, humans or chickens ?

  • too much money in our pockets ??

I just heard Ross Kemp [on sky one] saying about a British weapon we use in Afghanistan, each shot is 60 k pounds.

I don't know how much they use that weapon, but, don't we have better things to do with our money ?? ... after all is our money isn't it ?? we pay taxes and all ...

Bottom line, can anyone really justify us trying to sort out other people's society instead of sorting out our own place, which is in bits ...
