How do I set up a wireless profile to have a manual IP, but for all other SSIDs to use DHCP in Win7?
I use manual IP addressing for my home wireless, so need to set the Wireless adaptor appropriately. I like to use my laptop on the road, and that means DHCP. Is there any way I can tell it to use a manual address for one SSID but DHCP for all others? I'm running Win7 Pro.
1 AntwortComputer Networkingvor 1 JahrzehntThroughput and adding wireless?
My apartment is set up with a 50Mbps cable router connection. I've already got about 17 metres of Cat5e pulled from the router up to the top floor, connecting directly to the GigE port on my desktop.
I would like to add wireless. The obvious method is to stick a wireless router between the cable modem and the desktop. The speed of the wireless is not of massive consequence, I just use it for work, but have the odd heavy file transfer, so nothing too slow.
My questions:
As is, is the Cat5e likely to be able to handle a gig connection? It's isolated in a duct in concrete alongside a twisted pair for the phone.
If it's only at 100BaseT, is this the true throughput ie. will I be able to utilise the full 50Mbps of my cable connection or will a 100BaseT be a bottle neck.
Finally, the guy in the shop recommended wireless router with 1000Mb wired ethernet ports. He said routers with 100Mbps ports would only supply throughput of 30Mbpsm thus bottlenecking my connection? Is this correct? The router was double the price of one with 100Mbps ports.
Hope you can help. Many thanks

So, sound travels at 700 miles an hour or something through air. Yet it only takes a light gust of wind to noticeably reduce the sound level at a festival. Why should such a slow wind as 30 mph affect the sound so much? Surely it only has to travel a couple of extra metres?

It was a full one too. You want to make something of it?

After a spring & summer of sleeping with a different girl every weekend (yes, really), I'm taking a relationship seriously, for two months now. This girl is fabulous, sexy, intelligent and sweet. I love her to pieces. But I still have a nagging voice at the back of my mind telling me I should mate with every woman on the planet. Does it ever, ever go away?
