it looks like a spade as in cards. transparent with few green dots, two of them seem to be eyes. very much flat with about 6 legs i guess. swimming around in the water and sometimes somersaulting trying to climb up from the mug i caught it in.

it seems to have tow tail like appendages on it back side, opposite to the side with eyes and the direction it moves in.

the mug is yellow, hence the background color

i mean, if they are already giving birth to fries regularly, can a male impregnate her during this period.

i know that they can store sperms for quite a long time and can re-fertilize themselves for up to 6 times without a male after that.

i was wondering if it is possible that while she is fertilized with sperm from one male and has been getting pregnant with some male might impregnate her again. i want to make sure that when i separate them from the males after they start giving birth, they will stop after at least six times.

i have males and females in the same tank and the females have been giving birth in due time. is it possible that even after separating them, the females will keep dropping fries longer than 6 times (approximation in this case)?

for example: female with males gets pregnant thrice. if i remove her at this time will she give birth about 3 more times without males or for 6 more times till she is exhausted with all the sperm?

i hope i am being clear here, that's why so much of repetition if there is.

is there any procedure that i should follow before i do it, assuming it can be done?

i have live bearers in my aquarium.

community aquarium size-- 29.5 X 14 X 14 inches = 24 US gallon

water from - aquifer well - clean drinking water

ammonia level - <0.5mg/L

water changes done 2 times weekly of 20-30%

mechanical filter

fishes - guppy and molly less than 1 per gallon

about 2-3 months back i lost about 70 guppies in different tanks, dying at the rate of 5 to 10 per day. some of them were showing scratching behavior at the bottom of the tank at start of this. there were no clear visible signs of infection other that scratching at the bottom. i setup hospital tank and treated for ich and fungal infection, that didn't help. did partial daily water changes, no use. in the end sterilized the tanks, didn't help. all my stock guppies have died except 6 males who are not all in prime condition yet. i had bought few more females guppies in the mean time, some died two left now. they are doing fine and producing fries.

the problem now is every time they produce new fires and also the mollies that i have, all die within a few days. they seem energetic and feeding fine in the beginning then slowly get lethargic and die.

i am at my wits end. i can see no way.

i feed the adults pellets and blood worms and the fries i feed the same crushed/powdered. they were doing fine for the past six months before they started dying.

i will be really grateful if someone can help. i have searched youtube, google, everywhere, but no one gives an answer other than ich or fungal infection which clearly is not helping.

i have got a 1000+ U.S gallon tank. it has got a few tilapia, sharks and a sucker fish. can i add a shubunkin to the tank. it is about 5 inches in length now in a 24 gallon aquarium. i am worried if it might be small for it.
