My neighbor and her best friend decided to throw me a baby shower. I just graduated from College and my husband works at the college, so my guest list was rather lengthy. These women decided that Mother's Day would be the best day to have the shower. I argued with them and told them that there wouldn't be very many people that were able to come if we did it that day. Their argument was centered around pay days and their birthdays. They wanted to spend one pay day on the shower and the next on a super huge birthday party they have every year since their birthdays are like 3 days apart.

So, I caved in and agreed to the date. On Sunday, out of the 50 people I invited, 2 showed up....Late. It hurt. A lot. It still hurts. A lot.

Since this one failed, is it ok to have another go at it?

Ok, so this has happened twice now.

My husband and I got married around 4 years ago. We love being married, but we also love being social. We made it a point to keep in contact with all of our friends; married or otherwise. I don't mean we went out and partied every night, but an occassional pizza and beer at our house gathering was not completely out of the question.

About 3 years ago, a couple of friends of ours got married, and started acting weird right away. They cut themselves off from everyone that wasn't married and only hung out with their married friends. Eventually, they started phasing out everyone and secluded themselves. When we did see them, it was very akward.

Recently, another couple of friends got married and right away stopped socializing with us. This would be twice!

I know there is a honeymoon period where you just want to be with your new spouse and no one else. My husband and I went through this. But when its 6 months after your wedding, and your friends invite you to dinner, and you make up some obviously lame excuse not to go, it kinda hurts.

Right now we are expecting our first baby. I sent shower invites to both of these women and neither one showed, called, or sent a card, or even acknowledged we were pregnant. I feel like I don't really have any friends now.

Any advice? Any similar situations?

At my last OB appointment, my Dr. said I was slightly anemic. He put me on an iron suppliment, but since I started taking it, I've been queasy for about an hour afterward. Has this happened to anyone else?

I've been getting ready for my little one to arrive at the end of June. We've got a ton of baby stuff, and this weekend I was washing it and putting it away. I've already lost a baby sock. LoL!

I was wondering if any Moms had a suggestion on how to keep from losing the little socks in the washer/dryer.

I've been sooo uncomfortable for about 2 weeks now. I have lower back pain across the back side of my hips. I know it's just the baby putting pressure on my body, but I can't sleep.

How did/do you help the pain?

We don't know what we're having. Not by a choice we made, our health insurance made that one for us and is refusing to cover further ultrasounds without a medical reason. Things are going so smoothly, we may not have another one done.

Anyway...

We picked out a girl's name already: Audrey Elizabeth. But we're having a hard time getting a boy's name. I was wondering if any of you had suggestions.

Recently, my phone number was leaked to the general public and now I am getting quite a few telemarketing calls. I know everyone needs a job, and these people are just doing theirs by calling me and trying to sell me something. However, the phone they're calling is my cell phone, so I pay for the airtime they use and even if I ignore the call, I'm still charged 1 minute. Plus, most of the time, when they call, I'm at work or busy at home.

How do you deal with telemarketers? Do you ignore the call? Do you answer and hang up before they can get their spiel out? Do you ask them not to call again? Do you get angry? I don't want to ruin anyone's day at work, and I know it's just their job, but there's got to be a better way.

At my last appointment, I asked my OB when we were going to do another ultrasound. My husband and I are dying to know what we're having. He said that things are going so smoothly, we may not need another ultrasound. My insurance won't cover it unless there is a medical reason to have one. We had one early on, and he said everything looked wonderful, and there may not be a reason to have another one.

So, I went home, a little bummed. We really want to know what we're going to have, because it makes things easier for us at the store. We also want to choose a name before the little one gets here, and we're so tired of calling the baby "it" or "the spawn", or my favorite recent one "wiggle worm".

When we went to start our registry, I was disappointed because everything is either really pink, really blue, or plain ugly. I want to start buying stuff, but can't find gender neutral stuff that I really like. I'm also having a hard time finding stuff that I want in my house. Pastel colors may be pretty, but babies can't see them all too well. I've decided on dots and stripes in crayola colors, but can't find anything.

Do any of you know where I can find pretty, gender neutral stuff that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and fits my color scheme?

I am 15 1/2 weeks pregnant. I can't take my normal meds to ease my migraines. Tylenol doesn't cut it at all. I can't take Advil or Aleve. Showers don't help, heating pads don't help, sleep doesn't' help, dark rooms and rest don't help, massaging it helps a little but as soon as I stop rubbing my head it comes back.

My body has always responded badly to hormone changes, and I get at least 2 migraines a week now. I've talked to my Dr. about it and he said there's not much he can do for me.

Any suggestions?

I am 12 weeks pregnant. As soon as I found out, I let my boss know, and he put me on salary so that I could be in and out of the office and not worry about my pay check.

I've been out sick a lot. If I have a migraine, I can't function, and when you add morning sickness to it, I'm a disaster. I know I've been out a lot, but I try to make up for it by staying late and coming in early. But he doesn't remember me coming in and staying late. He just remembers me being out.

This afternoon, we were discussing the holidays and what days he wants to shut our office down for Christmas and New Years. Since we are a small company, there's no set dates for anything. He informed me during this conversation that he's a little upset with me "taking advantage" of being on salary and that he feels I've been out too much. He wants to take me off salary and put me back on hourly. He also needs me to work Monday and Tuesday next week and half a day on Wednesday.

I told him that I wasn't too happy with this decision, and he said "tough". So, now I'm stuck. The job market sucks. No one is hiring. I need a job, but feel that I'm getting the short end of the deal here.

Any advice on how I can improve my situation? Or am I just screwed?

I'm so sick of oranges already!! And I like spinach, but there's got to be more sources of folic acid other than those two.

I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant. I know it's normal to be tired all the time. There's a lot going on.

Coffee and caffeine are off limits. I can't take a nap at work. I go to bed earlier, and still almost sleep through my alarm. I need some suggestions on how to handle this fatigue.

I had two positive tests two nights in a row. I'm about a week late. How long did you wait, and how long before you had morning sickness?

It was raining here yesterday, and I was curious if anyone knew why rainbows are circular? I know how they are created: water droplets in the air form hundreds of billions of tiny prisms that refract the visible light spectrum and we are able to see the colors within the spectrum. But why are rainbows semi-circular in shape?

My husband and I have been trying for over a year now. I went to the Dr. and we discussed strategies to rule out any possible "timing" issues. I felt better after going to the visit, but now I don't feel so optimistic. I know things take time and if there are issues with either one of us, there are options out there to help. I just need a little encouragement.

My hubby and I are having trouble getting pregnant. I heard that you can detect ovulation by a temperature change using a basal thermometer. I priced them at the drugstore, and they are about three times as much as a regular thermometer. What is the difference between them? Shouldn't they work the same?

My husband and I have a friend who we feel needs to grow up a little.

He constantly thinks of himself before others, and we're a little tired of it. For example, he and his girlfriend broke up about a month before Christmas. Granted, breakups are hard, but come on. Move on. We found out that his mom was in the hospital for major surgery, and he was more worried about getting his ex back than his mom. This upset us, and we called him on his BS.

He quit talking to my husband, but has been in contact with me. Since our friend does not have a job at the moment, he has a lot of free time on his hands. He is constantly texting me while I'm at work. I have asked him not to, nicely...

Yesterday, I was in the middle of a meeting, with my phone on vibrate, and he messaged me "I'm starting a garden. I have seeds and soil, but I need a hoe. U busy?" I didn't find it funny and my husband blew up when I showed him.

We're at our wit's end. What do we do now?
