I was reading that after slavery in the USA was abolished, most Afro-Americans took their surnames from their former "owners" and these have been passed down through generations (which was then later questioned by people such as Malcolm X, etc.). My question is whether Afro-Americans in the USA today generally feel uncomfortable about their surnames (bearing in mind the history of these names) or whether they are not bothered, or what their attitude is to their family name. Thanks for info (btw: I´m not American myself, hence my question).

Can anyone recommend some good disaster/catastrophe movies (especially, but not necessarily, natural disasters)? I particularly like 70s [nostalgia thing] big disaster movies (have Earthquake, Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure, Meteor on DVD) More info: I also have Deep Impact, Dantes Peak, Day after Tomorrow, (hated Armageddon, found Volcano medicore). Any other suggestions for good disaster movies (from any decade) from movie fans? (Also documentary recommendations on the subject appreciated). Thanks.

I´m curious about the new versions of these movies and considering getting them on DVD. As a fan of the original film versions of both (1976 + 1972), I was wondering how these new versions shape up in comparison to the old classics.
