Our optometrist has suggested that my wife's intra-ocular lens has an accumulation of dust on it and that it can be removed through a simple 30-second laser procedure performed by an ophthamologist. She had cataract surgery three years ago and her vision has gradually degraded since then.

I can't find anything about such a procedure doing some basic Google searches.

The window has a left and right tilt latch and they are brittle to the point of falling apart to the touch. When I went to remove the latch (which rests on top of the window frame, not inset), the screw holding the latch in place won't come out.

I need to remove the screw without damaging the window framing.

I recently installed new ceramic tile floors in my kitchen and while installing, I was using a tile wet-saw on my outside deck. It had the unfortunate side effect of leaving a lot of residue on the wood. A secondary effect was mixing the cement on the deck, some of that got on the wood as well. How can I remove these two products safely without causing permanent damage to the wood? I don't mind repainting/re-staining the deck.

I was living in Montreal and working there as well. Recently, I have moved to Gatineau (still in Quebec) but am now working in Ottawa.

When my employer finally got around to inputting my new information into the system, my pay dropped by 15% which came in the form of higher federal AND provincial taxes.

The following numbers are inaccurate but are relative to my actual numbers:

Net:1700$/2wk

Taxed: 250$ Fed 300$ Prov

Now:

Gross: 2500$/2wk

Net: 1400$/2wk

Taxed: 500 Fed 400 Prov

How is this possible???

I'm building a new computer from the bottom up.

I was, for a while, interested in the Intel C2D E6750 which is a 2.66 Ghz running at 1333 Mhz Bus Speed. Today, I came across the Intel C2Q Q6600 which is a 2.40 Ghz running at 1066 Mhz Bus Speed.

Obviously the Core 2 Quad is better.

What is bus speed? What is the bus speed difference going to effect? Which is better and is it worth a $90 difference?

When I moved, I lost (or possibly misplaced) the AC adapter for my exercise bike. It's a Trimline B103 (same as the B102) upright.

Does anyone know what model of AC adapter (or what would be written on the one I had) I could use?

I'm having a pain on the left side of my back (around the middle vertically) when I take medium to deep breaths. It started this morning being annoying. It's not horrible pain, just enough that I notice it.

I just sneezed and in addition to the back pain, it kind of resonated a light pain throughout my arms down to my fingertips.

I'm thinking maybe pneumonia but it's spring and I'm prone to hayfever. Which is more likely or could it be something else?

When I was in high school, I remember reading something in english class regarding the seven conflicts of humanity. They included man vs. himself, man vs. nature and I can't remember the rest.

Can anyone tell me the other conflicts of man and where I can obtain the literature?

My puppies are having their tubes tied and/or testicles mangled today by the vet since I have no intent to breed them.

My vet offers laser and conventional castration surgery. The laser costs about $50 more per puppy but I can't really see any advantage for me or the pups.

Briget (female) and Tristan (male) are brutally unaware of what's to happen to them today and I'd like the experience to be as painless for us all as possible.

Should I pay the extra money? If so, what are the advantages with regards to attitude and recovery time.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent (standard transmission) in good condition. This morning, I let it warm up in the -22c weather and reversed out of my driveway. It was REALLY rough to shift to any gear. After 20 minutes of driving, the engine was warm but it wasn't any better. The temperature is down to -8c now but it's no better still. The gears are occasionally grinding, always difficult and the friction point is drastically reduced.

Could the fluid be frozen? Might I have damaged something unknowingly? Am I damaging it further by driving it in this condition?

So what's the diff, really? Why is american different from swiss, havarti, gouda, blue or camembert? I must assume all cheeses are based from some basic ingredients to be called cheese so how do we come by the differences?

My two 4 1/2-month old puppies are clawing the gyprock off the walls while I'm out or when I'm in. I scold but they still do it while I'm away. Crating is not an option. Are there products or tried and proven methods to stop this destructive behaviour?
