I hooked up my iMac to my router and it won't let me get on the internet when I switch my wireless off. When i go to my Network Settings it says its connected. I read some posts where if my IP address begins with 169 it means it doesn't work or something. Help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

i just got them from my storage that I've had a LONG time ago and i have no idea how this works, yes I'm fairly young. is there suppose to be an AUX cable or something? cuz all i got were red and black wires with wired tips.... PLEASE HELP
