A boy named Roy

Around this time last year a girl (lets call her S) came up to me for some clarification along with a pretty friend (i fell instantly in love with this friend of hers. Lets call her J). S & I became very good friends on that day. After about a month, i got introduced to J. I had told S that i kinda liked J a lot and she told me that i was in for disappointment cos J already was seeing someone. In the mean time i had asked J about herself and she told me that the last time she had a crush was when she was in college about 3 years back and that she was presently single. I had also discovered that the two of them were the best of pals. S in fact told me once that if she didn't have a boyfriend she would have married J. The three of us became pretty good friends and there were even times when I shared some of my passwords with S.

This June, S started stopped talking to me all of a sudden. I would have sent her about 100 SMSes in couple of days and called her as many times but she just wouldn't respond to any of them and wouldn't let me know the reason why she behaved in this manner. I asked J the reason for this and she tells me that it would be best if S told it to me herself. I just left this whole thing for a month.

In July, there was a work related issue regarding which S and I had to talk to each other. I asked her the reason for her weird behavior and she tells me that her boyfriend had read through some of our chat transcripts and thought that she was cheating on him.

After this incident she moved to another work location and for some reason had to work out of my location on a particular day. She tried giving me a smile but i didn't smile back.

Now coming back to J; J and I also grew in our relationship as friends, we got to know each other better and spent time with each other a lot. But ever since this silly incident took place she doesn't call me for weeks together. When I ask her the reason for this she just blames the work load.

I was just a week away from proposing to J formally when this whole thing happened.

What do you folks suggest i should do? In case I still go and propose to her, i am pretty sure that it will be S controlling the whole relationship between J and me. I am so damn irritated with this whole issue!! :-(
