and reformatted. I've a Dell, and I'm running Windows XP. The problem is, sounds aren't working. System sounds, cd sounds, the beginner 'songs' that are given to everyone on Windows Media Player. The error message from Windows Media Player is this: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly". I go to Control Panel then to Sounds & Audio Devices, and anything that presents a choice is grey lettering and boxes instead of black, meaning it will not, under any circumstances, let me click on it. It claims there's no audio device installed. There are six devices in Hardware there, and it claims they're all working

in running order. I even tried to update the drivers but it said they were the most recent. The pc did have sound before IE 7 download killed it, so I don't understand what's wrong now.
