Please help.?
I’m trapped in a dungeon with a hideous monster. He looks like a mother in law from hell and in a bad mood too. He placed 12 bags of gold before me with 24 ‘identical’ coins in each bag. One of the bags contains coins that are all 2g under or all 2 g over the rest of the coins are identical in weight. These coins seem to weigh about 70g each. He was ‘kind’ to provide me with a precision digital scale (0 - 25,000g +/-.01g). I have to make one measurement to determine which bag contains these nonstandard coins. I could try my luck by taking one chance out of twelve, but for some reason I don’t feel lucky today.
How do I do it? PLEASE H-E-L-P!!!!
4 AntwortenPhysicsvor 1 JahrzehntWhat do you think?
Looking back for the past 20-30 years what do you think we have learned to expanded our knowledge in the areas such as physics, cosmology, genetics, anthropology, paleontology (go wild in girth and depth) and other applied sciences that you believe are profound and could be considered to be pivotal if not turning points in the development of our understanding of the world we are living.
Please consider only one topic :-) .
3 AntwortenPhysicsvor 1 JahrzehntI have purchased four 100W (120V rated) incandescent light bulbs..?
The resistance of these incandescent light bulbs was 8.90 ohms on the average (+/- 0.251 ohms if you want to split some hair):
a) How much current will the bulb consume on the average if I plug it in a 120 V circuit?
b) How much current will the bulb consume in a 12.0V circuit?
(Values are in RMS)
How do I do this problem?
10 AntwortenPhysicsvor 1 JahrzehntA solid disk of 10 kg ..?
Yes! A solid disk of 10 kg and a radius R=1m, 12.5 cm wide starts rolling down a 10 degree incline when it is 1 m above the base of the incline. Assuming no slippage compute:
(a) Translational velocity when it gets to the bottom of the incline?
(b) It’s potential energy?
(c) It’s total energy?
(d) How old is the observer?
1 AntwortPhysicsvor 1 JahrzehntI wonder what the scale would read?
A spring scale is attached to the ceiling and the other end is attached a stretched spring which in turn is attached to the floor. The spring scale reads 15.8 kg.
I wonder what the scale would read if:
(a) Some one decides to hang a mass of 10 kg off that scale
(b) Then comes back and attaches another 10 kg.
3 AntwortenPhysicsvor 1 JahrzehntJust a little mechanical energy?
Given a system of two masses m1 and m2 which are attached by a very light string over a solid pulley of mass M and radius R. The smaller mass m1 is held at the ground level. If the m2 is suspended h meters above the ground what will the velocity be of mass m2 as it hits the ground (after the mass m1 is released).

Please help me to figure this out.
What can one do with Dark Mater if it was available in small packages? Can we use Dark Energy in our cars and I wonder if that would produce too much Dark smoke?

2 AntwortenAstronomy & Spacevor 2 JahrzehntenPlease help with finding the next number?
At one of these parties Historian was asked to figure out the next number in the sequence 288, 466, 754. When Mathematician offered her help our hero politely declined. Then a Biologist came forth just a minute later and his help was also politely declined. Very shortly after the problem was stated Historian had the right answer. I missed when he proclaimed the solution. What was the solution? Please help.

If you know the difference and what they can do to us then why don’t we just get rid of these ‘creatures’?

Actually I wonder which is heavier: a kilogram of butter or a kilogram of lead? Explain the solution if you had to demonstrate to your friends arbitrarily say in a middle of the New York City’s Central Park.
Rough ideas are accepted, but please be gentle.
