  • C++ Unit Converter Code?

I am trying to make a unit converter for inches, feet, etc into cm, m, and km.

I am practicing If/else statements but I am having trouble with everything besides the outputs and basic starting lines.

I have seen some examples where they have the user input which unit they want to convert using basic numbers (ie. 1 for inches) but I am wanting to do this differently.

    Input starting unit: Inches

    Input ending unit: kilometers

As well as rejecting any nonmatching conversions (ie Fahrenheit to meters)

  • Getting Good at Something?

The title basically says it all.

I am a jack of all trades save the 'unimportant' things like video games and I hate to say it, grades. Of all of my friends I can point out one particular 'hobby' that they do really well and talk to other people about it.

For example, my roommate is amazing at painting miniatures. This is not really anything worthwhile but it is something to talk about and makes him stand out. Like I can say "Oh, thats X, he is amazing at paiting these .... "

Basically, I am a college kid who is looking to get noticed for something and to have something to talk about.

    I'm open to any ideas.

  • Paying internationally on the internet?

If I live in the US and I want to order some things from the UK, how does that work?

I a Visa card that I would use but it obviously has only US dollars on it. My question is, if I order with my credit card, will they just convert the amount (in pounds) to dollars? Or do I need to do something special?

    Thanks

  • Weight to Volume Solutions?

Ok, I think I have this down, but I just want to check it.

The questions are all pretty much the same.

"How many grams of sucrose would you dissolve in water for a total volume of 500ml to make a 5% (weight/volume) solution?

    Is it 25g?

The other questions just change the amount, percent, and/or solute.

    Thanks

  • Whats the independent/dependent variable for this experiment?

"Length of a regenerating limb of a starfish measure for 4 weeks"

I am confident that the dependent is how much the limb grew since it was cut.

But for the independent, would it be where the limb was cut or how much time it was given?

    Thanks

  • Why do vets get paid less than doctors?

    So, why?

I'm not talking about the super-specialists, surgeons, etc.

Just the average vet, and average doctor. From what I've seen/researched doctors (on average) make more than double than the vet.

Unless my stuff is terribly outdated, bad info, etc?

Not trying to start a flame war of vets vs docs but, just wondering. Since they both go to school for 4ish years.

  • Any ladders in a veterinarian's job?

Ok, I worked with a zoo-vet as my summer internship and really want to become a vet (in general). I was stuck between bio teacher or vet and I am thinking vet is winning (atm).

But I was thinking, after becoming a vet, is there anyway of working yourself up the job ladder?

Ex: My dad used to be a small manager and over the years worked his way up to being the CIO of a big company (no names)... Is there anything like this in the vet's line of work or...?

Also, is it possible to work for the government as a vet?

Any advice, help, anything about becoming/being a vet would be appreciated.

Edit: I am a freshman in college with good grades and working on a 5 year master's degree in biology. Obviously, no VCAT yet

  • Setting up a new aquarium?

I'm going to be setting up a new aquarium and I went to the store to price everything out and saw a ton of 'new chemicals' that are supposedly supposed to help a new tank.

So what exactly do I need to do to set it up. I've got a 37 gallon, filter, heater, etc but still haven't put any water or anything in it. I've cleaned the gravel/plants and thats about it.

    Thanks

(The chemicals I am seeing is stuff like: Dechlorinator, tap water cleaner, bacteria promoter, etc)

  • What the heck is Mugen anyways?

I know what it basically is but can someone explain it to me?

    --I can't find a download anywhere

--Do you really need to be 'computer savvy' ? Can't you just use it as a fighting game?

Etc, any info will be helpful

  • Keeping fish alive in a minnow bucket?

I am looking for someway to keep fish (not minnows) such as some yellow perch, bass, bluegill, etc alive long enough so I can bring them into class to show my students. I have a large minnow bucket (cause I won't be hauling in 700 perch) and plan on filling it with water from the lake. But how do I keep the fish alive (say 1-2 days) without an automatic aerator. I have a tank and everything in the classroom but the trouble will be keeping the fish alive long enough.

    If you hate reading:

    1) I need to keep some panfish alive for 1-2 days.

    2) I have a large minnow bucket

    3) I'd really rather not buy an automatic aerator unless you can link me a cheap one.

    Thanks

  • I need a new anime really bad.?

I just finished watching Gurren Lagan and looking for another anime. I don't really care how 'mature rated', what genre, or anything really. I like shorter series like TTGL, Elfen Lied, etc so that means Naruto, Bleach, etc are out. ( I dunno if anything can compare to the epic anime that was TTGL).

    Thanks

    (I've watched:

    TTGL

    Elfen Lied

    Death Note

    The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

    Thanks

  • Exploding Road Bike Tires?

I am going to purchase a road bike soon and ride it on the 'trails' around my house. By trails I mean asphault trails that wind through the forests and such. I've seen how rail thin and fragile the tires look and was wondering how durable the tires are? Are the tires meant to take a some rough action or will they pop if a rock gets under it? Basically, should I aim for a Cyclocross bike b/c of the different tires or are road bike tires tougher than I am thinking. THanks

  • Road bike for a tall guy. 10pts for best?

I am new to the road-biking sport and am going to shop online at bikesdirect for a bike. I am currently 6'4" and talked to some bike shop people the other day. One said that a 62cm bike would be fine, but the other one said get one that is 64cm. I was just wondering if I should grab the 62cm or 64cm. Thanks

--the cm measurements are what I believe to be the length of the seat tube

  • New road biker needs a bike?

I just finished up track season and want to get into road biking. Since we have a ton of asphault 'trails' around my home I decided it would be a nice way to stay in shape until Cross Country starts and after it ends. I have however run into a problem... Finding a bike

    I'm looking for a bike that :

    1) Under 500$ (It's just an starter bike so I can always improve)

    2) Big enough for a 6'4", 184 pound guy.

I have currently seen the: Schwinn Varsity and Schwinn Prelude 700c. Thanks in advance.

I am just starting it, already watched episode "00". Should I do chronological order or the way the episodes were originally released? I know it really doesn't matter but which do you think is the better way?
