Im a married mother of 5 awesome children. We have 4 girls and one handsome little boy. I have had a c~section with the first, and uncomplicated vbacs with the rest. I am a huge supporter of VBACs. so much better than surgery, and the risks are far less with the vbac, vs major surgery! btw, im 24, and no, I dont have any twins. I am a terrible mispeller and mistyper, so please excuse this ;)

  • membrane sweep success rate?

Had my membranes swept today. 39 weeks and induction planned for next week. Hoping to avoid that! I'm sore as the dickens and "showing" a bit of bloody mucus. I have had a handful of strong painful contractions but I figure its just pain from being swept so hard. I could have cried lol. I am 60-70% and 3-4 cm dilated before the sweep. What's the chances I will go into labor? My midwife said she didn't really know sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This is my 6th child and I never had mine swept before. I will say I am cramping all the time and my sciatic nerve is really really acting up now :(

  • how to get baby to drop more?

First off, I'm heading toward an induction if the baby doesn't move down more. Last I was told I was 3cm and around 70% effaced. I need to move the baby down more and if I do I can avoid the pitocin and they will just rupture my water to get the labor going. I don't like pitocin. I'm very very tired from not sleeping at night(back and pelvic pain and using bathroom every 5 minutes) so walking seems like an exhausting task. Not trying to sound lazy at all I keep up around the house after 5 young children and a hubby lol. Bouncing on my ball some but causes my hips to hurt more. What's another trick to moving her down? I'm sitting upright bouncing gently she was station -3 maybe at this point she could be a -2 since now I can actually feel my cervix when before it was high and back. She was planning on stripping membranes next visit right before induction but I rather avoid that too lol.

    Any tips?

  • Almost 38 weeks and cervix is high how have you gotten your cervix to drop?

This is my 6th child. I have never had this issue. It wouldn't be an issue at all if my doctors where not insisting if I don't have my cervix come forward then they will cut me. I had a c section with my first and vbacs with the rest... just that this is a new doctor vs all my other babies(due to relocation) and I don't want to have another c section I have fought very hard to have my other children vbac. I want to try and do everything under my power to make vbac most favorable. I have dropped down low but my cervix is still high and back and very soft maybe dilated a 1-2. Been contracting for weeks... I have been sitting on my birthing ball for an hour+ every night trying to get it forward. I've tried sex and pelvic tilts. I'm trying to be patient but I also want to make sure I did everything in my power to have this child naturally without a c section. Please any advice or input. Also I still work full time on my feet all the time no sitting at my job.

    Thanks!

  • Help me with dates please doctors are confusing me.?

I'm more curious because all my dates are screwy. LMP was 14th Nov. First urine test positive was 21st DEC and the blood test positive 27th. First ultrasound jan 6th showed yolk sac no baby. Then yesterday they said on ulsrasound baby is 18 weeks. Its not making since and I'm seasoned lol... any input ya'll... did they maybe not put on gestational age but fetal age? Sonographer had no clue... I'm high risk so a difference of a few weeks matters!!! :/

  • progesterone shots during pregnancy?

On my 6th child. #5 was PROM @ 33 weeks. The doctor started me on progesterone shots once a week. Its a long drive to the clinic. From what I see online it doesn't help much? My cervix is already 50%+ effaced I'm 19 weeks. Anything else I can do to prevent another prom? (This is my last child) I didn't have natural membrane rupture with any of the others. Bed rest is not an option I have to work full time to pay the bills. I have stopped intercouse as of 4 weeks due to my super severe morning sickness. It finally went away but now because of my cervix I have continued to stay away from intercouse... my hubby dont like it but I figure its best for baby and doctor aggrees with history and current cervical condition.

  • When will my milk come in, preemie baby. previous children.?

My baby was born just over 24 hours ago due to a PROM at 33.5 weeks. So will her being early affect my milk? I have been making colostrum since 4 months along. All my other children had no issues feeding, and no issues with milk production, and I normally started making actual milk within 2 days, but they where all full term. Does a baby born preemie throw this off sometimes? I've been manually expressing every 3 hours or so to try and keep stimulated, and try and get some for her when they allow her to be fed, and that may be later today since she hasn't needed oxygen since last night. Will my milk come in on time? Im just trying to make arrangements for pumps and such since they are going to keep her for at least another week due to hospital policy. Thanks for any advice.

  • baby name help! need one within hours!?

Baby was born preemie yesterday so we haven't had time to name her. I love that she is doing so well that not even 24 hours after birth she is breathing without oxygen! She was born 33.5 weeks.

In any case, we haven't really kicked around any names but our other girls are named zella aleena and kastel... we need something eccentric, yet uncommon, but the only thing we came up with so far is eve may, since eve means to breath and may is because she was born in may... and it sounds cute together... anyone else have something awesome that means life? Or to survive or even strength, or will to live, or strength. Please throw out any suggestions!

  • will they do a c-section? 34 weeks pregnant and water broke I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE! depsrate!?

I have had so many vbacs, I hate to look like a quitter, but im 34 weeks, my water broke, but labor isn't progressing... they are saying im gonna be stuck here for weeks! They wont help get my labor going, and they wont let me walk. They are giving me fluids and antibiotics, and im basically stuck here, I requested and was given a steroid shot, though the doctor said by now baby's lungs and everything should be fine, so the shot wont really help. What should I do? I cant be here for 5 weeks, she said they wont induce till 40 weeks, I also can be gone away from my family that long. I need to know if they will give me a c-section if I request one seeing my water has already broken, im getting to the point of getting upset that they wont let me walk or even eat. Im trying to stay calm, but at this point there is next to no difference between a baby born at the end of 34 weeks and one born at 40 besides weight, and my baby was measuring ahead.

  • I cant stay on hopsital bedrest for 3 weeks!!! what are my options?

They say im 34 weeks(that doesn't match with my records of the only time my husband and I had sex, but its whatever), my water broke this morning and still not but a few contractions an hour, they wont let me walk to get them going, they wont let me eat, baby's heartrate is fine, my vitals are normal... what am I to do? They said they wont stop labor if it starts, but wont start it either. I have a bunch of kiddos at home and my husband can't handle them all by himself for weeks. What can I do! We don't have relatives near by, nor friends that can take the kids for long periods of time. Should I just ask for a c-section and get it over with? Im just so worried that im going to be strapped to this bed for weeks. We financially can't afford for me to be away, even if I was at home I could make some cash with selling stuff so recovering from a c-section would be financially sensible vs being stuck here in the hospital.

  • if your water broke naturally, how long did it take you to start getting steady contractions?

MMy water broke this morning around 10 am, im in the hospital and they said they wont do anything to speed up my contractions, im at 3 cm and 80% effaced as of a few hours ago. And my contractions are about every 10 minutes... they have been for a while. So what should I expect. Anything will help! Thanks.

  • what would the doctors do?

I havehave been having contractions for days, I told this to my doc on friday and he checked me, and would really let me know much else, except that he" could get a finger in" and that that's normal for a woman going on her 5th child, and" to make sure I get right to the hospital if I have contractions" so I called the nurse a few hours later and asked what my dilation was recorded at, the nurse said 4 cm, 60% effaced. So... my question is now, A. Why didn't they get the to go into the hospital, isn't 4cm risky? And B. I have been having contractions all day today, but not but every 10 minutes, he said to head in at every 5. So. What would they do if let's say im a 5cm dilation with further effacement. What do you think they would do since im only 35 weeks... im guessing they wouldn't let me go home with a cervix that open right? So what should I expect.

  • what vaginal discharge the has an onion odor?

I had this during my last pregnancy, anyone have a clue what would cause an onion smelling discharge? Its like onion/garlic like, went to doc today, they said they didn't think I had an infection, but its strong(maybe my nose is sensitive) could they have over looked an infection? They didn't run any tests, just did a pelvic exam. I have had it since I lost my mucus plug a week or so ago... and it seems to be getting worse. Also I was having steady hard contractions all day and night.... the doc said nothing about these.. except that if they get close again to get to the hospital(I have always found these doctors to lack some basic intelligence when it comes to pregnancy, maybe old schooling or something..., but I must see someone and I am limited on who could see me since im in a rural area)

So... I must ask you folks, hope it gives me a clue, its not urinary its vaginal discharge... white/green, yummy!

Btw this is my 5th kiddo, im about 35 weeks. Haven't had any complications that I know of.

  • what would they do if my water ruptured 34 weeks pregnant.?

Im just concerned because I have dilated quite a bit and am only almost 34 weeks. I know baby would be fine with little risks other than possible breathing issues, but what would/could they do if my water broke? Just kinda interested since last night I felt like I was leaking, but it just turns out the baby was bouncing on my bladder causing me to leak urine, not fluid... but hypothetically speaking, what would/could they do?

  • has your water ever broken and you not started having contractions?

Just curious if there are any of ya out there that experienced this. I was told once your water breaks you shouldn't have any problems waiting for contractions to start within hours, but has there been any time where your water broke and that was the end to it?(obviously you want to seek medical attention within 24 hours due to the increased risk of infection and fetal distress). Also how far along where you when your water broke or was broken, did you have additional medications given? Just curious how its gone for everyone else... i've always had mine popped at the hospital once the contractions had already started... wondering if it could be the other way around, pop water to start labor contractions.
