combining two RMS voltage sources in series?
Two sinusoidal sources connected in series. Assume the frequencies are not the same. The RMS value of each source is given (10 and 15 V, but a generic response is fine). What is the RMS voltage of the two sources combined?
7 AntwortenEngineeringvor 1 Jahrzehntwhat is it called when you shift your accent/idioms to to closer match the person you're speaking with?
I'm from the US. When I speak with someone from another country, not native English speaking, I find my vocabulary becoming more limited, my speech even a bit broken, subconsciously to match who I'm talking to. Or if talking to someone from another English speaking country, I will use more of their idioms and even shift my accent a bit. Around my brother is when my own accent is most profound. People speak dumbly to babies. What's the name for this phenomenon?

or explain why non exists
I just said 0=x^2*(y_0)^2, so y(x)=0 for all x is the only constant solution?
Can someone verify?
1 AntwortMathematicsvor 1 Jahrzehntafter installing an xbox 360 game to hdd, will it always play from hdd?
I ask because when I go to the game library, I can select "play from hdd" and when I put the DVD in it plays automatically. Just making sure I don't need to explicitly tell it to play from the hdd.
6 AntwortenXboxvor 1 Jahrzehnt$40k masters vs $10k masters?(electrical/computer eng)?
I will graduate with a BS in CPE. Ideally, I want to work for a major chip maker doing microprocessor design. I feel like I'm going to need at least a masters degree to get such competitive jobs. I could get a MSEE(VLSI Design) from USC 100% online(the same degree you would get by being on campus) or I could get a MS CPE(they don't offer such specialized EE degrees) from my undergrad university (UAHuntsville, www.uah.edu). Obviously I would prefer to have the USC degree, but it costs 4 times as much. Is it really worth that much extra?
1 AntwortHigher Education (University +)vor 1 JahrzehntCan't decide between BS EE vs BS CPE?
I am torn between these similar degrees. I want to work in chip design for computers, ideally for a large cutting edge company like intel, amd, nvidia, etc.
Here are mutually required courses that I will take either way:
CPE 112 - Introduction to Computer Programming in Engineering
CPE 212 - Fundamentals of Software Engineering
CPE 323 - Introduction to Embedded Computer Systems
EE 100 - Fundamentals of Computer, Electrical and Optical Engineering
EE 202 - Introduction to Digital Logic Design
EE 213 - Electrical Circuit Analysis I
EE 310 - Solid State Fundamentals
EE 315 - Introduction to Electronic Analysis and Design
EE 420 - Random Signals and Noise
These courses are required for CPE:
CS 214 - Introduction to Discrete Structures
CS 317 - Introduction to Design and Analysis of Algorithms
CPE 353 - Software Design and Engineering
CPE 321 - Computer Organization
CPE 422 - Advanced Logic Design
CPE 381 - Fundamentals of Signals and Systems for Computer Engineers
CPE 431 - Introduction to Computer Architecture
CPE 434 - Operating Systems
CPE 448 - Introduction to Computer Networks
And these are required for EE:
PH 113 - Physics III(wave motion, optics, relativity, quantum effects)
EE 307 - Electricity and Magnetism
EE 313 - Electrical Circuit Analysis II
EE 382 - Analytical Methods for Continuous Time Systems
EE 383 - Analytical Methods for Multivariable and Discrete Time Systems
EE 425 - Introduction to Control and Robotic Systems
EE 447 - Electromagnetic Engineering
EE allows for 5 electives while CPE only allows for 2, so If I did EE I could still take several of the extra software courses.
What do you guys think? Which degree/course work seems more appropriate for someone who wants to work with hardware, but specifically with something like microprocessors? Course descriptions can be looked up by searching the course number on this catalog: http://catalog.uah.edu/
Thanks anyone for your time
2 AntwortenEngineeringvor 1 Jahrzehnthelp with freshmen electrical engineering project (microcontroller)?
So I'm doing a project due at the end of the semester and I have an idea but I wanted to get some input on how feasible this would be given my limited skill set (I'm only in an introductory EE/circuits course and a C++ course.)
I want to make a circuit with 4 photo diodes each blocked off from a different direction. I want to write a program to read these inputs and determine which direction a light source is, and what the optimal position for a solar cell is to achieve max potential, and then move the solar cell with a couple of small motors.
Is this something a novice could figure out how to do with a PIC microcontroller? any feedback or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
2 AntwortenEngineeringvor 1 Jahrzehntelectrical engineering journals?
I'm in an introductory engineering course and I need to find an article to review for class. As it's an introductory course, my knowledge is quite limited, so I'm looking for more general journals with something that I can understand. I'm looking for suggestions of peer reviewed journals that would have topics on electrical, computer, or optical engineering.. thanks.

not looking for the answer necessarily just some help. I tried to use substitution but that didn't really work.
4 AntwortenMathematicsvor 1 Jahrzehntis this a specific belief system?
I believe that there may be a God, only because something must have ultimately started something(before the big bang). It may or may not have qualities of omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, I don't think it really matters though, i don't think it interferes, and I don't believe in afterlife. I know this is pretty much Deism but is there something more specific to call it? Obviously this post is vague but any suggestions is appreciated.
