  • Is Two Weeks Too Soon For "The Talk"?

I (28) have been dating this guy (28) for about two weeks and things have been GREAT but moving really fast. We are both looking for a serious relationship & to settle down soon-ish - we have not had an exclusivity talk yet. He's a resident doctor and I am a lawyer so we both have busy schedules. However, we've done the following in the short two weeks:

    - 4 dates in the first week

    - Sex on the 3rd date

    - Met his friends after a week (4th date)

    - He's told his mom about me (she asked about me by name)

    - Introduced me to a roommate saying "This is [my name]. We're getting married."

    - He's very affectionate publicly and privately (physically and verbally)

    - Mentioned he's kind of jealous when I mention other men

    - He's twice brought up conversations about what "our" kids would look like.

    - But he's still logging into his online dating profile.

Based on time spent, I feel be are both quite invested, but is it too soon for the exclusivity/what are we talk?

From day one he's just felt "different" for me - I feel like he could be The One. I can't recall the last time I was this excited, nervous, and giddy about a man (and I date a lot!). Could this be real even though things are moving so fast?

  • How Would You Define Our Relationship?

He (34) and I (26) have been dating for about 4.5 months. We are both looking for a serious relationship but have discussed that we haven't reached that stage yet with each other but we are working towards it. "Serious" being defined as getting to know each others friends and family. I have met 2 of his friends (a couple) and I haven't introduced him to any of my friends.

We have both stated that we aren't seeing anyone else & have deleted our online dating profiles. So I guess we are "seeing each other" - whatever that means?!? We have been sleeping together for the past 3 months or so and see each other (official dates & hang out at home w/ our dogs) about 2-3 time per week.

So what are we?!? (Before you say "ask him that", we have talked about it & neither of us really knew what to call it)

  • Empath - Figuring Out What Is Mine and Sensing Other's Energy?

I am an empath. I have felt it for at least 10 years now but never had a name for it and just always assumed my intuition was just slightly better than others so I never thought much of it. However, this past weekend, when I was out in a crowd of thousands (which I've never liked doing), along with spending time with a friend that has negative energy, I got a massive migraine-like headache with nausea like I've never had before. That led me to look into the situation and I finally figured out that its the empathy that's been causing everything I've felt for years. Apparently various psychic abilities run in my family.

Now that I am more aware of it, I feel all of this random energy everywhere just bombarding me. I've been working on separating what is and isn't mine and with my logic, it usually works. However, sometimes I get a sense of a person and I don't necessarily trust it because I don't know if I'm actually sensing their energy empathically or just reading their body language. How do I discern the difference?

**Please don't bother answering if you don't know what an empath is or don't believe in this type of stuff. Thanks.

  • Lunch with Managing Partner at Large Law Firm?

I am a 3L graduating this May. I had an on-campus interview with this firm a month and a half ago and no one, even the law school, has heard from the firm since. I contacted the Managing Partner at the firm selling myself & asking to meet with him to discuss my qualifications and how I can be an asset to the firm. He replied saying he wanted to have lunch with me.

Should I treat this as a second interview (like a callback)? If so, any advice?

  • Are we just friends? I think I want more...?

My guy friend and I have been "friends" now for about 7 months. I originally met him on an online dating site and we went on 2 dates but ultimately I ended up dating someone else. Since then, we have become good friends and admittedly, I've started to fall for him. But now I don't know if we are stuck in the friend zone. We have a great time whenever we are together, we are really comfortable with each other, and are obviously both attracted to each other since we dated briefly before. He has even met all of my friends and family and he fits in perfectly. Whenever I want to hang out or talk, he always seems to have time for me. However, I am confused because we also have the type of close friendship where we talk to each other about other people we are dating.

We talk at least every other day, but usually every day. He also never has anything positive to say about my dates but I know that he is currently still dating several women. Oh and I know this sounds a little childish, but he's my "Valentine" and we are supposed to be going to a spa.

So what should I do? Is there an underlying romantic connection & neither of wants to be the first to admit it? I don't want to make things awkward...

With the exception of insects, most animals have a tongue...why is this? Obviously taste is one reason but that doesn't seem all that important. My question excludes animals that have tongues for functional purposes (ex. Humans for speech, anteaters or giraffes for getting certain foods)

  • Is there any significance to a year long sexual relationship for men?

I have been casually dating a guy for a year. We are very good friends but we also engage in the "benefits". I know that I have developed feelings for the guy on some level but I'm very unsure about how he feels. However, we are very comfortable with each other and he even plans on cooking dinner for me for my birthday. Could this "non-relationship" be going anywhere? Is it possible for a man to have a year long sexual relationship without developing any romantic feelings for me?

P.S. This has been long distance for the entire year. We only started living in the same city within the last month.

  • Could I have gotten pregnant while switching birth control?

I was on Yaz for nearly a year, switched to Trinessa for one month, and then went back to the Yaz. Its the switched from the Trinessa back to the Yaz that I'm worried about.

    - I took my last "active" Trinessa on June 2nd and didn't take any pills for the next 7 days during the 7 inactive pills. ( I didn't miss any "active" Trinessa pills but took 1 or 2 pills late at the end of the active pills - btw it has 21 active pills)

    - My period came on June 6th as scheduled.

    - I started taking the "active" Yaz pills on June 10th. (I haven't missed any "active" Yaz pills - btw it has 24 active pills)

    - I had unprotected sex on June 12th only 2 days into the new Yaz pills without any backup method.

Since having the unprotected sex I have had a number of symptoms: increased hunger, frequent urination, headaches, fatigue, dull cramping, more recently tingly swollen breasts (not normal for me before period), sensitivity to smell, and this morning my eggs tasted weird (but they were perfectly fine). I know this will sound weird but I also think I may be pregnant because so many people have been talking about me being pregnant lately and that would be ironic if I actually am.

I know all of these symptoms can be other things but I just have a weird feeling this time. The pamphlet with the Yaz says when switching from another brand pill, start taking the Yaz on the same day you would have started your new pack of the old pill. I did that correctly, but it didn't say whether I needed to use a backup method during the switch.

I've been browsing the internet and I've read that I should have used a backup method during the switch - some say for the first 7 days, others say the first month. I don't know what is correct! I am expecting my period on July 7th in 2 days.

Anyone know if I should have used a backup method and for how long? Could I be pregnant? Have you or do you know anyone that got pregnant while switching birth control?

  • HELP - How do I talk to him about wanting more with scaring him away?

I was in a Friends with Benefits relationship with this guy from July to December. I ended the sex in December because I was beginning to get caught up and want more from our relationship - he said he wasn't mentally ready for a relationship. We have remained very close friends however and talk nearly every day about mostly anything. With the growth of our friendship, I've found myself really developing a connection with him and wanting more again. How do I talk to him about it without scaring him away and possibly making our friendship awkward?

Also, we are in our early to mid 20s and this has been a long-distance relationship but within the next 1-3 months we may be in the same city permanently.

  • HELP - "Friends with Benefits" to "Just Friends" to Relationship - Possible?

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ MY PERSONAL STORY, AT LEAST ANSWER MY HEADING QUESTION PLEASE.

So here is a quick run down of my situation with this guy:

    - We are in our early to mid 20s. This is a long-distance "friendship", I see him about once every 4-7 weeks. We live about 5 hours drive apart but soon may be in the same city permanently.

    - Summer 2009 we started a friends with benefits relationship which lasted until December when I ended the sex because I was beginning to want more. He said he wasn't mentally ready for a relationship.

    - We agreed to be "just friends" after this. Over time we have become quite close friends and talk about nearly everything and anything on a nearly daily basis (but it is almost always via IM or text).

    - I saw him in February and I tried to sleep with him even though I had broken up with him in December. He turned me down saying we agreed not to do that anymore. We had a big fight about it where he revealed that he was hurt by this because it seemed like I was using him. We later made up (not sexually).

    - I saw him in March, we hung out and had a great time but he was kinda weird. He talked about other girls, he was really touchy feely, he did a lot of playful hitting, playing in my hair and even did that caress your cheek with the back of his hand thing. It was all out of character for him compared to when we've hung out before. And I went back to his place (this is all daytime) and he was very flirty as though he wanted to have sex, but I turned him down since he got so mad the last time I tried to have sex with him.

    - Lately, we have talked alot about his issues with women and his shyness and fear of rejection and getting hurt etc. And he's admitted that I'm one of the few good women out there.

So my question is...Have his feelings morphed and now he likes me and he's genuinely interested in dating me as opposed to the FWB we did before. Would him liking me explain his behavior? Or is he genuinely embracing our new title as "just friends", hence the talking about other girls and playing rough with me like I'm one of the guys and getting upset at me for trying to have sex with him?

  • Just Friends with Benefits or Is He Hiding Other Feelings?

So, I've been "seeing" this guy for 7 months now and we have had talks about the status of our friendship/relationship and he's made it clear that he feels that we are just friends with benefits. His basic explanation is that he's not in a place right now to be in a relationship or even dating or that he could give me what I need (which is more) but he's not in a place right now where I would want it. I know, wtf right???

While it seems that he's made it very clear what he can and cannot offer me, there are some complications or other things that make me not believe this:

    - This is a long distance situation between us. We see each other roughly every 6-8 weeks.

    - He and I are very good friends. We talk about a lot of different things. I know he's been depressed for quite some time now so maybe this is a legitimate reason he doesn't want a relationship.

    - When I bring up plans that I have with other friends, he always assumes its other guys. Ex) Me: I have some friends in town I haven't seen in a while so tonight isn't good for me. Him: Sounds like you have a lot of dudes on deck and if that's the case maybe we should just do lunch. Also, when I do explicitly mention other guys, I can somewhat sense that he's trying to play it cool with what he says and maybe that shows that he cares because he doesn't even have to acknowledge my comments about other men.

    - He often asks when I will be in town again. - Yes, I know this could just be him being horny but I asked him about asking me so often lately when I'd be in town and saying he wants to see me and he replies that "its all metaphorical for your ever loving presence"

    - We chat nearly daily. However, unless I am in town, this is always done through IM or Text

Give me your thoughts please. I'll had more details if you have questions but I suspect that won't be necessary because you'll say it's clear he just wants the sex.
