  • Hamster not moving for a long time?

Hi guys! So my syrian hamster, Cosby, is doing well! So far so good. He's healthy and he hasn't had any illnesses. He is about 6-7 months old. I know that when hamsters see or hear something unfarmiliar, they stop moving to investigate it. But my hamster stops moving for a really long time. But he's not frozen. He's usually just sitting regularly and moves his head a bit and looks totally fine! But I just wanted to know if it was strange for a hamster to stay in the same spot for as long as 20-30 minutes or maybe a little less. He's conpletely fine now. He's on his wheel and acting normal and everything. But if there's something wrong, I thought I should know! Thanks!

  • Hamster not coming out of tube!!!?

Okay. So my syrian hamster, Cosby, has always been very shy. He lets me pick him up and pet him but he is a naturally shy hamster. So recently i have been finding him asleep in a carboard-type tube i have for him. But i found yesterday that he is totally living in it. He has his food in there are bedding and nesting stuff. This would be fine if i didn't have to clean the cage, which i do. I tried EVERYTHING! I can NOT get him out! And i can't just take the tube cause it's too bug for my spare cage i keep him in when i clean the cage. I tried food but he is smart and only takes the part that is right near the opening. I saw his head poke out and it looked like there was some hair missing on the top. I'm kinda scared. I dont know what it is and he WONT COME OUT!! Please please let me know what to do! Thanks!!

  • Hamster Squeaking?

Hey guys. So i have had my hamster for 3 months now. And so far he is in good health. But recently i have been woken up to the sound of him squeaking really loudly whilst running on his wheel. Can anyone tell me why this is? He seems fine. Doesn'f have diarrhea and his wheel is a silent spinner 12'. Totally solid and big enough for him. So i don't know what the problem is. Really concerned. Anything u can say will help. Thx!

  • Hamster not coming out of bed?

Hey guys! So i have had my male syrian hamster, Cosby, for roughly 2 months now. I am a first time owner but have researched ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! He has been doing well in the taming process. I can stroke him, pick him up, offer him food, all of that. But recently (about 2 days), he has been shut up in his bed. He only comes out VERY late at night for a little bit. He usually finishes everything in his food bowl, but today i saw he left half his food in there. Is that normal? He has been drinking and peeing and pooping. He has been chewing his sticks i gave him A LOT which i think is a good sign, right? He also TOTALLY buried his house in bedding. All around the sides, the whole 9 yards. Could this and the other things have to do with winter coming? If so, what can I do to help or make him more comfortable. Thanks so much!

  • Pedigree Dentastix for Hamsters?

Hi guys! So I was shopping at target today. Before, I had heard that dog treats are good for hamsters. So I went to the section that had dog treats, and looked at all of them. I found a bag of Pedigree Dentastix (beef flavor) that looked good. They were small, and large in quantity. I figured I would buy them and then see if they were okay for my little hamster. I have been doing some research, since, and have heard mixed reviews. Some say they are great, others do not. I checked the ingredients and have found that they do not contain any derivatives (aka by-products). They are mainly just rice flour, wheat starch, other vitamins and stuff, and natural beef flavor, etc. I was wondering if I could get any final advice on if I should use them or not. I have heard that when eaten, they get gloopy and could block their digestive system. Yet I have also heard that that only happens in dogs as they have much more saliva than hamsters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  • What is the name of this song?

Hey guys. So i heard this song the other day and i can not stop singing it! I need to know the name of this song. The problem is i only know a couple of lyrics and i don't know who sings it. I am pretty sure the name if the song is until the end. It's about being friends with someone. Some of the lyrics are- years have gone and still, my faithful friend, until the end- stuff like that. Does anyone know Who sings it or what it is definetely called? Thanks.

  • PLEASE HELP!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY HAMSTER?

Hey guys. So tgis morning i woke up and went to my hamster, Cosby's, cage. I took off the top to wash the bottle and food bowl. After that i put my hand in to pet him like i do very often. Well, halfway to petting hin with my hand close to the top, he JUMPED and reached for my hand!!! I pulled it away and QUICKLY put the top back on. Then he was just trying to get out (but he can't). He was putting his paws on the wall and reaching out. He was standing on top of his house and trying to extend his neck to get out! Is this normal?? Please tell me why he's acting this way!!! • WHAT DID I DO WITH MY HAMSTER??

Hey guys! A week ago i got a syrian hamster. He is still very young (2 months old). Recentely, his taming has been great! He takes treats from my hand, lets me pet him, and seems to really love his cage! So i heard about these hamster playpens. I thought it was a great idea! I had heard so many great things about it! Everyone seemed to love it and their hamsters did too! So i made one! I put it down, and put my hamster in there and as soon as i let him go he FREAKED OUT! He was running everywhere and trying to get out and panicking like CRAZY! Thankfully he didn't get out! I took some treats and lured him back onto something and put him back in his cage. He adjusted very soon and soon after that, fell asleep. What did i do wrong??? Please answer asap i am very scared that he will never trust me again!! Am I totally screwed? Thanks so much!

  • When do I give my hamster new food?

Hey guys! So i got my hamster exactly a week ago. The pet store said not to give him new foods and to keep him on the food he ate then. He said if i wanted to get him on a new food/seed mix, i should do it slowly over time. Well, i am doing that but i know fresh fruits and veggies are very good for hamsters. When should i start introducing those foods? Also, when should i give him other foods such as cheese, bread, pasta, and meat? Thx!

  • Should i have played with my hanster before buying him?

3 days ago I got my pet syrian hamster from a trusted pet store. There was only one that they had and he was perfect! He was a short haired, male, young, orange and white, syrian hamster. That was exactly what i wanted! And he was sleeping and seemed very tired and stressed out. The store manager picked him up and he seemed very upset and tired. I told the manager that I didn't need to hold him. He asked me if i just wanted to take him home? I said yes. But now i am reading that you are supposed to play with him before you get him. Did i make a big mistake? Thx.

  • Should I wake my hamster up?

I know that hamsters are nocturnal, but I want to train him and get him used to me. I have had him for 3 days and want to start training him. I usually play with him for a little before i go to school, and at night. But he usually only gets up when i am about to go to bed. Should i stay up late for the better of my hamster? Or should i wake him during the day? Thanks a lot!

  • What should I do with my hamster now?

Hey guys! So three days ago I got my syrian hamster. Since then, he has taken food from my hand, and he eats, drinks, and plays with his toys. What is the next step with bonding/taming him? I don't want to rush things and stress him, but I also want him to trust me and get tamed. So what should I do next? Thanks so much!

  • Hamsters- Sooner or later?

So. I got my syrian hamster 2 days ago. Last night he was playing in and exploring his cage normally. Today, he has been sleeping in his favorite corner. I have read 2 different things. I have read to leave him for 2 or 3 days at the MOST because the sooner you start taming him, the better. I have also read to give him at LEAST a week so that they get used to the cage. I know I should not stress him out and leave him. But tomorrow will be the third day, and he seems to be fine. Should i follow the sooner or the later tip? Please also add any taming tips. I have been reading up and just want many different tips. Thanks a lot!

  • Hanster is afraid!?

So yesterday I got my adorble male, short haired, syrian hamster. He is 2 months old. Yesterday, i got a treat and fed it to him by hand. He took it. But then he kind of just stood hiding under his wheel the whole day. Then, at about 1:00 in the morning, he woke me up with his loud noise. So i got up and saw that he ate a lot of his food, but didn't drink anything! So i put a treat on my hand, and laid it in the cage but he didn't take it. Oh, and after i was with him for a couple of minutes, he kind of just hid under his ramp. Also, many times before when i just hand fed it, he seemed scared and afraid. Why does he take it sometimes and not others? Also, why is he not drinking? And why is he suddenly afraid of me? (Just one more)- is it okay to start petting him and putting my hand in the cage today? Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
