"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architect, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don't bother concealing your thievery - celebrate if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said, "It's not where you take things from - it's where you take them to." jim jarmusch ♥ “I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to too." mitch hedberg ♥ "When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion." robert m. pirsig ♥

  • How can I get rid of bumps from ingrown hairs?

I have a bunch of brown bumps all over my bikini line and inner thigh. I can't get rid of them. I exfoliate vigorously and have tried a bunch of different lotions and creams. I'm at a loss as to what to do to get rid of them.

Please don't answer with ways to prevent them. I already have them and I'm looking to clear them up.

  • What's the one song you can listen to over and over, and never get tired of it?

For me, it's Nutshell by Alice in Chains. If I had to choose one song to listen to for the rest of my life, that would be it.

  • Why is Jack Nicholson considered such a great actor?

Every time I watch one of his films, I never lose the fact that I'm watching Jack Nicholson. It's always "Jack Nicholson as...", never just the character. I just hate his crazy, psycho shtick. He doesn't have to pull that creepy voice in every movie he's in, even if that's his natural tone, he could still switch it up. I haven't watched all his films, of course, but he's just so repetitive.

  • Is there such thing as too much eye contact?

For some reason, whenever I'm interacting with someone, I have a hard time NOT keeping eye contact. The odd thing is, if someone does the same to me, I feel uncomfortable, haha. I guess I expect the other person to be the one who looks away so I don't have to do it myself.

If I'm talking to someone, I don't know where else to look except into their eyes. Maybe its a bad thing I do this considering I try to gauge people's reaction to me by studying their body language, starting with their eyes.

  • How much are you really expected to know on the science and technical parts of the ASVAB?

My mom keeps telling me that the most important focus is on the verbal and math sections, and she keeps saying, "high schoolers take it. the military doesn't expect them to know much about electronics, and shop".

How does someone who has no experience with these topics suddenly become an expert?

  • Help with Statistics problem - confidence intervals? Check my answer?

In a random sample of 14 home theater systems, a sample standard deviation for the price was $123. Assuming that the population is normally distributed, construct a 95% confidence interval for the population variance and the population standard deviation.

I've already worked it out but I feel like my answers are way too high. I don't know what I'm doing wrong since I'm using the formulas the book gave me.

    For variance I got: (7951.0, 39264.7)

    For deviation I got: (89.2, 198.2)

  • Any ideas what this could be? (pic included)?

I've had these bumps on both my arms for a while now and although I do have eczema, these look different from what I'm used to and they're also not responding to my eczema medication. I haven't tried much, except non-medicated lotions and cremes, but I'd really just like an idea what it could be without going to the dermatologist.

  • Significant figures: division problem?

This shouldn't be as difficult as I'm making it, I know. But for this problem:

    6.64 + 6.68 + 6.70 / 3

I don't know if I should be counting the 3 as the smallest number of sig. figs. the answer should have? If I do count the 3, then the answer should be just 7?

  • Is it weird that I get offended if people don't maintain eye contact when we're talking?

Does anyone else expect complete eye contact when you talk to people? I always look into people's eyes and I hate when the other person is looking anywhere but my eyes.

  • Avoidant personality disorder: should I see a psychologist or a psychiatrist?

I am pretty sure I have AvPD, my only problem is that I've previously seen social workers and I've never felt like they did much. I don't know if a psychiatrist is exactly what I need, but I've been leaning more towards one.

Mine: War Pigs. First of theirs I heard, still my number one.

  • How many of you are fans of Mad Season?

I never see them get mentioned on here (or anywhere really). Its not that surprising considering they put out only one album, but it was a ridiculously good one.

What's your favorite song on "Above"? Mine would have to be Long Gone Day, with Artificial Red as a close second. Layne could really write some great lyrics...

  • Can someone explain to me why anyone would consider The Beatles "overrated"?

Are the people who claim The Beatles are "overrated" trying to be unique? Are they pulling some hipster special snowflake crap and have to bash a band just because they're hugely popular and respected?

If anyone who holds this viewpoint could explain it to me, I'd appreciate it because I just don't understand. The Beatles did so much for music. Their innovation deserves all the credit it gets.

  • How was Pearl Jam "grunge"?

I don't even know what "grunge" really is, I just know there's no way PJ was it. Their music is like generic American rock band. They don't use guitar distortions, their music isn't noisy or loud or abrasive. The only thing that was "grunge" about them was their clothing/style back in the 90's, and that was the product of commercialization by their record label.

I've usually complained about Alice in Chains being called grunge, but PJ is really the band that makes no sense to be labeled that way.

    2. Nutshell

    3. Angry Chair

    4. Am I Inside

    5. Rotten Apple

    BQ: Facelift or Tripod (self-titled)?

  • Why is indie rock so poppy and upbeat?

All these indie rock bands sound the same. The singers all use this airy, synthesized voice. Its weird. This is the direction rock music has moved into and I find it hard to like these new bands.

  • Pearl Jam fans: Alive or Even Flow?

I'm not a big PJ fan, at all. In fact, I only like three songs on Ten. Two of the songs, I can't decide which is better. They're both great. What do you think?
