Question about text identification (Concept Design)?
Hello,
I am in the brainstorming stage for a new concept design. The core function of the invention is to have some sort of sensor that can identify text/images (and therefore know when it sees them again). It is much more important that it be able to identify certain strings of written text. Is there anything that does this? How expensive is it? Where can I buy it? Thanks!
1 AntwortProgramming & Designvor 8 JahrenDoes chlorophyll work in dead plants?
Say for instance, I blend grass in a blender of some sort and add in water. If I store it in some kind of container, will it remain a greenish color, and if so, for how long?
1 AntwortBiologyvor 8 JahrenWill grass stay green?
I am interested in creating a product that consists in part of blended grass (lol). I understand that chlorophyll makes the grass green. However, if I pick the grass, and blend it, while adding in water... will it stay green for an extended period in storage? I have no reason to expect it to other than a gut feeling. If so, about how long?
5 AntwortenBotanyvor 8 JahrenApple App Design Beginner?
I'm looking to start creating Apple Apps. I am getting a book to teach me Objective-C. I just kind of want to know how hard it would be to design an app like Candy Crush or Instragram. These sorts of apps seem fairly simple, but I have no idea. Any help?
P.S. I understand it is terribly hard to be successful with an app. Just wondering if these sorts of apps are terribly hard to design.
1 AntwortProgramming & Designvor 8 JahrenQuestion about legality of a business practice?
I know someone who is starting a business selling crafts. To create these crafts, they go to a store like Hobby Lobby and buy a lot of different small decorations. They then combine these to make attractive decoration pieces. Is it legal for them to open a business selling these created pieces, since they are ultimately using a match-up of previously purchased items? I wouldn't think it illegal, but they are kind of selling someone else's item. Hmm! Thanks.
3 AntwortenLaw & Ethicsvor 8 JahrenGambling legality in USA.?
Hello. I'm 19 and I live in Illinois where the gambling age is 21. I'm extremely fascinated by the game of poker and desperately want to play. I found a casino in Oklahoma that allows anyone 18+ to play. Would I be in danger of any legal action whatsoever if i chose to cross state lines and play poker here? I wouldn't think so since that is what the casino allows. It appears to be a very nice casino.
Thanks!
4 AntwortenLaw & Ethicsvor 8 JahrenWhere can a 19 year old play poker in USA?
I live in the lower half of the state of Illinois. I am trying to find the nearest, reasonable (Indian) casino that allows 19+ persons to play table games (poker). I believe only certain Indian casinos are allowed to accept persons under 21. The closest possible casinos I have found are in Minnesota, Michigan, and California, all of which are quite far away. I won't use a fake ID. Please help.
2 AntwortenGamblingvor 8 JahrenRotational Inertia Question?
Can anyone explain how to do #72 listed here: http://mnrt.net/math0607/sci12/problemsets/07-05-0...
A small disk of radius R1 is mounted coaxially with a larger disk of radius R2. The disks are securely fastened to each other and the combination is free to rotate on a fixed axle that is perpendicular to a horizontal frictionless table top,as shown in the overhead veiw below. The rotational inertia of the combination is I. A string is wrapped around the larger disk and attached to a block of mass m, on the table. Another string is wrapped around the smaller disk and is pulled with a force as shown. The acceleration of the block is:
A) R1R2F/(I – mR2 2)
B) R1R2F/(I + mR1R2)
C) R1F/mR2
D) R1R2F/(I + mR2 2 )
E) R1R2F/(I – mR1R2)
Thanks!

A wheel, with rotational inertia I, mounted on a vertical shaft with negligible ratational inertia, is rotating with angular speed ω 0. 10. The root-mean-square sped of molecules in a gas is:
A) the most probable speed
B) that speed such that half the molecules are moving faster than vrms and the other half are moving slower
C) the average speed of the molecules
D) the square root of the square of the average speed
E) none of the above
Why is the ans E)? Seems like it should be D) by definition.

1 AntwortChemistryvor 8 JahrenCan you be sued for spoofing a band name?
A buddy and I are thinking about starting up a YouTube rap group. We are largely just doing it for humor, but we'd like to try to create some decent raps. We actually came up with an awesome band name to suit us, but it is a spoof of a once-popular band. I don't want to say it here since I think it is an awesome name, but I just want to make sure we couldn't be sued. I'm sure it wouldn't matter, as we have no chance of becoming popular, but I'd like to know. I can't think of a good example, but suffice it to say that the first word of our band name rhymes with the first word of the real band name, and the second word is the same, with two articles in between.
Thanks!

A hollow cylinder and a hollow sphere are released simultaneously at the top of an inclined plane. They roll down without slipping. Which reaches the bottom first? The moment for cylinder is I = mr^2, and I = 2/3mr^2 for the hollow sphere. It says the sphere wins...

1 AntwortPhysicsvor 8 JahrenHow much energy will be released?
A meteor of mass about 8.4E12 kg is heading for Jupiter. When it hits there will be a huge release of energy. Assuming it fell from far away and started with zero velocity, how much energy will be released when it hits Jupiter? The radius of Jupiter is about 7E7 m and its mass is 1.9E27 kg. G = 6.67E-11 nm^2/kg^2.... I don't see why I don't just use U = -GMm/r. Won't all of this potential energy be turned into kinetic energy? The answer is not one of the choices.
1 AntwortPhysicsvor 8 JahrenComputing the volume of a solid.?
Compute the volume of the solid enclosed by the cylinders z = x^2, y = x^2, and the planes z = 0, y = 4. For the most part, I resolved the problem correctly. I found that x^2 < y < 4, -2 < x < 2, but I mistakenly arrived at 0 < z < y. Originally, I had z between 0 and x^2, but thought that since y = x^2, it would also be fair to say 0 < z < y. Why was this assumption wrong? I supposed I should have used a double integral instead of integrating 1, but I was having a very tough time telling what the surface looked like during the exam.
Thanks!
1 AntwortMathematicsvor 8 JahrenA Comparison of Normal Forces.?
Why is it that the normal force on an object, say a 20 kg block, is stronger when the object is on a flat surface, rather than on an inclined surface?
1 AntwortPhysicsvor 8 JahrenConsider a car on a horizontal road...?
We can conclude that the downward gravitational pull of Earth on the car and the upward normal force of Earth on it are equal and opposite because:
A) the two forces form an action-reaction pair
B) The net force on the car is zero
C) the static friction between the car and the road is zero
D) all of the above
E) None of the above <<----ANS
I don't see why B) is not the answer. I guess because there could be more forces that just aren't described?
2 AntwortenPhysicsvor 8 JahrenQuestion concerning the use of collegiate logos in a decoration.?
Okay, can you use only the colors and a non-official logo? That is to say, for Harvard could you use crimson and white or black, whatever the colors are, and perhaps a crimson H on the item? Is it only an issue of using the actual logo?
1 AntwortLaw & Legalvor 8 JahrenWhat legal issues arise when using collegiate logos?
A family member and I are planning on starting a small internet business selling a particular kind of decoration. We thought it would be nice to personalize said decoration with colleges in mind. Do you have to have some sort of permission to do this? For instance, could we make a Harvard (just an example, lol) decoration to sell, without permission. If we would need permission, is there a reasonable way to get it?
