  • Is buying a house at 22 a good idea?

    A family friend of my parents has hit hard times and is looking to off-load his cabin near a lake in Washington. He wants 30k, but my dad believes that I could possibly get it for 25k owner-contract. I have little to put down, but I make aprox 35K a year. My plan would be to buy the cabin, live in it for a few years, and then build a house on the property once my credit history is established and I'm able to get a building loan. I'm wondering if it sounds worth the hassle to get out of rent.

  • Is it legal to lend electricity in the U.S.?

    My landlord is providing power to one of my neighbors whose power was shut off through a very long and unsafe extension cord. Other than India, I can't find any info on laws to get him to stop. I think its unfair that I pay my bill, and my neighbors get free power provided to them.
