  • I was wondering how do they plan to enforce the new "Health Insurance Law"?

I mean, where I live you have to have auto insurance. The only way to enforce it is if you get pulled over. It seems to me that a Health insurance law would be about the same, and that people without insurance will simply avoid going to the hospital for fear of repercussions. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but isn't this law really just "Don't go to the hospital if you don't have insurance, because even if you pay for services with cash, you'll get fined"?

And has anyone discussed, what are the penalties for not following this law? Jail time? Fees? Refusal of medical care?

  • Why did my pigs suddenly try to eat a still living chicken?

I raise poultry. This year, i got a pair of saddle back swine. They are lovely animals... well fed, growing well... But today i heard a terrible noise and ran out to find that a chicken had wandered into their pen and was being eaten alive. They've never been aggressive, and in fact are quite smart and friendly. So I don't understand this behavior.

They eat commercial grade swine food along with "slop". Any leftover vegies, noodles, but never meat. I've always worried about feeding them meat, lest they develop a taste for it, since we do have several yard chickens.

Can anyone shed some light on why my pigs might have done this?

  • Why have a paranormal phenomena section if it's just a rant space for people who don't believe in paranormal?

Answers which express disbelief or skepticism rate thumbs ups while answers which express a belief in the paranormal rate thumbs down. Honest questions are greeted with attacks against the individuals sanity.

Why do people feel the need to even visit the paranormal phenomena section when their only goal is to discredit and insult?

  • Muscovy duck question?

I've owned a muscovy duck farm for many years now. I thought I had it all covered. But...

I bred a tried and true all white female with a tried and true all white male (they are the ones that have the black spot on the heads, but the spot disapears at their first molt). But, in a perfectly ordinary clutch of all yellow babies, one of them is yellow with a black tail!!! This pair had no contact with other ducks, so it's definitely their baby. And they've never had one like this before.

No spot on the head... just all yellow with a solid black tail.

Question is, has anyone else ever had this happen? And if so, does the black tail disapear the same way the black head spot does?????????

  • Why do people assume that every area has a licensed animal rehab?

In my area, I once had to call for a baby owl out of it's nest. It had fallen from an extremely tall pine tree, and it was a fuzzy little baby.

I called the local police who sent someone to watch the owl while they waited for a "rehabber".

While waiting, I was told that "I don't think they've got no one for owls. Probably just put it down."

I told the sheriff I'd happily take the owl in if they were just going to kill it, and was told "No you won't. That's illegal. Just let the animal control team do what they do."

They KILLED that Baby owl!!!!!!!!!! Not on premise, but they didn't have a rehabber, so they euthanized the bird.

So, why the heck does everyone assume that every area has a licensed rehabber? The local shelter doesn't take wild animals (doesn't even take cats). The humane society won't deal with it. The only licensed rehabber within several counties... only takes care of TURTLES.

  • ok, I'm finally sick of it....?

My beagle is potty trained. It's a smart dog. But, it thinks that the way to tell me it has to go potty is to jump on me and do a dance, and to get back in it barks like a maniac. How do I get it to scratch at the door like a normal dog?????

  • Why do people think a farm is the best place to dump their cat?

I own a duck farm. We raise poultry. And yet, people are continually dumping off their cats in my yard. I know they are ex-pet cats, because they want to get all friendly. The local shelters don't TAKE cats, because they have too many already (I've tried taking in the god forsaken vermin that people keep dropping off). I've called in about them, and been told I can shoot any animal threatening my livestock (yeah, right. Like I could kill a cat.) So, why do people think a duck farm is the ideal re-location habitat for their stupid cats??? We're up to something like twelve or fifteen, and GOD FORBID if these nasty little animals start breeding.

  • Under Yahoo Answers Don'ts, line 4, why can't I solicit?????

If they mean solicitation as in advertisement, then why do they have a separate line for advertisement...

    Under "Don'ts"

    9. "Post content for advertising or commercial purposes. "

The definition of solicitation, if not applied to advertising, must then be "solicitation, entreaty, prayer, appeal"... Which is what Yahoo Answers is for. I'm appealing to you to tell me, DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE??????

It can't be "Solicitation" in the legal sense of inciting criminal activity. That is covered under line Five.

    5. Incite or advocate violence or harm against a person, group of people, or animals

    and line Eight.

    8. Post content that violates federal, state, or local law

So, it HAS to mean that I'm not allowed to appeal to you for an answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Help me, I'm so confused.

  • DID you know that you can post suggestions?

Seriously, I was clicking random items on the page... mostly out of boredom, and I clicked this TINY little word in the upper right corner. "Forum"

And all of a sudden, I have access to a big list of suggestions, as well as the ability to comment on suggestions, and make suggestions...

No wonder they make it one tiny nondescript word. Otherwise Everyone would be making suggestions...

Did everyone else know this, and just kept it secret?????

  • In the YA rules, under Don'ts... number five...?

I can't advocate or incite the harm of animals, so does that mean I can't suggest eating hamburger? It's advocating the harm of cows!

    HAMBURGER IS GOOD, EAT SOME.

you can go ahead and report me now. Oh, man. Report me twice. I think this might be ranting.

  • Another global warming question?

Ok, first of all, we're in an interglacial period of an ice age, in which it warms up and glaciers recede. At the end of most interglacials, the Earth goes back into a full ice age. Glaciers cover most of the Earth's surface, and it's cold. The only other alternative is that the ice age ends completely and the Earth loses it's ice caps and warms up. These are facts. This is the cycle the Earth has followed for forever.

WHY ON EARTH WOULD WE BE WORRIED ABOUT WARMING WHEN THE ALTERNATIVE IS FREEZING???????

Is it a bit short sighted of us to be worried about a little weather change towards the warm side when we should be grateful it's not the other way????

  • Why do Christians read the bible if they when...?

They don't even believe it themselves? Seriously, so many answers about the bible end up being "Ah, but that wasn't meant literally, it meant..." They say it is interpretation, yet I find that interpretive art is generally NOT interpreted the way the artist meant, and so I don't think the bible would be any different.

Why read the bible if you simply say that it is not meant the way it is written? So many Christians interpret it to mean what they want it to, and so it seems they could do this just as well without the bible.

  • Should Yahoo answers really let ten year olds give advice???

Ok, I'm sorry, but lately I've noticed a rash of preteen advice running rampant on the Yahoo answers. Some kid answered a question in pets with "I used to raise chickens when I was younger, but I'm twelve now."

Shouldn't there be an age warning so that people can give such answers the weight they deserve???

  • Should childhood obesity be considered neglect or abuse?

Ok, I've asked three questions, all asking opinions on government interference with child rearing. A vast majority believe that spanking should be up to a parent, and that obesity should be government monitored... So, does that mean that the U.S. should deem child obesity as neglect or abuse? Should there be laws in place which make it a crime, much like abuse, if your child is overweight?

  • Why is it ok for the government to mandate children's weight, but not interfere with spankings?

I recently asked two Very related questions regarding government interference with child rearing. The one question was regarding spanking, and a vast majority were against government interference in this area. The second question was regarding a schools right to send parents notice that their children are "obese". The second question was the kicker. Everyone seemed vehement in their response, and about half thought that it was best for the schools to do this.

It's interesting. So, why is it alright for the government to step in on weight, but not on spankings?

  • What would you do if you got a note from school that your child is obese?

I'm sorry. It recently came to my attention that some states are requiring that schools weigh children and send home notes if the child is obese. First thought.. Don't they think you know if your kid is chubby? Second.. if the parent cares won't they be already working on the weight issue, and if they don't care will a note help anything? So, doesn't this just increase the child's discomfort regarding their weight?

    What would You do??

  • Wether or not you agree with spanking, do you agree with outlawing spanking?

Some people believe in the biblical "Spare the rod and spoil the child"... and I'm not talking about beating, or abuse... Just a good old fashioned swat on the rear end. Should the government really be able to tell you how to deal with your child? Next will they be telling you that it's illegal to give your kid more than one soda a day?

    What's your view?
